That mess up from McCarthy has been coming from the start. He's like Bambi on ice with the ball at his feet and his brain in what do I do now mode. He saved the first time, nearly got caught several times until he just passed it out for the goal. Shades of Newcastle last season. He never learned anything same player scored.

The shame is that is the best we've played all season. Whoever thinks McCarthy can displace Bazunu is in cloud cuckoo land. It looks like Still has accidently found a team.

Obvs a brainfart by the GK but not helped by the previous five or six backward passes allowing the oppo fds to press that part of the pitch. If one of the previous five players had played fd that goal doesn't happen.

At least opposition have to play their way into a chance at no save Bazunu, McCarthy is like a goal granting Genie, rub the goalposts and he'll emerge and pass it straight to your striker.

Macca just has absolutely no idea or ability at passing and he should never, ever have been asked to by Martin. You wouldn't play that pass to someone who's clearly not expecting or wanting it if you were 60 yards up the pitch let alone in your own box. He's a decent shot stopper but completely incompetent with the ball at his feet.

Tbh I wasn't keen with Manning that half, look how close Jelert was getting every time it went wide on the right. Manning just stands off and lets them get going with pace at him, no idea why.

McCarthy - don't pass the ball around in our penalty area when we are under pressure or even if you aren't sure we are. Just don't do it. Never do it again okay.

Bazuna - can you stand in the right position when the opposition are attacking and be in the right position in relation to what is happening in front of you - oh yeah try and push any saves you do make wide towards the corner flags rather than the middle of penalty area. Oh yeah can you have a bit more presence in the box too, you know with crosses and stuff. Cheers.

I’d persevere with Quarshie. He’s certainly raw and will no doubt make mistakes but no more than THB and Stephens.
