Marco Rose would be the one. 4 at the back, fast/direct football, would be respected having managed big teams and has worked with Spoors.

Perhaps a bit over ambitious for us at the moment. Can’t see him being interested in the Championship.

I doubt he is because Alfie House has stated the hierarchy at the club didn't like him and he fell out with them in the end. Having said that I'd put nothing past this mob of imbeciles.

Alfie House also said Still's system was working.

Would you prefer decisions made on feelings?

Tbf It wouldn't be any worse where SR are involved!

Problem is there is no perfect choice for Saints. The players are absolutely shot to pieces, even the new ones.

It isn't as simple as bringing in a football maestro. No matter how genius their tactics are, the players aren't in a place to implement them. Panic sets in as soon as the opposition put together a decent attack.

Neither is a sergeant major, old school 4 4 2 type going to solve the problem either. It would bring some resilience, but modern tems easily find a way round traditional tactics.

You could reincarnated Cloughie and even he would struggle.

Someone like Southgate (I wish) would put a decent rebuilding plan in place. He would have the gravitas to keep players and fans from wobbling.

Robins or Carsley would fit, maybe Viera, but whoever gets it they have one hell of a job.

Reckon it could be Martin’s agent putting this shit about to try and force Norwich’s hand.

Even SR aren’t stupid enough to consider that arrogant prick.

Debatable

Feels like someone that Leeds or Wolves would get - quite similar in profile to Hasenhutl when we got him.

Can’t see him coming to bottom 4 Championship.

What about Patrick Viera?

Has just departed from Genoa by mutual agreement as they are bottom of Serie A nine games in, and the team are getting booed every game. He managed them to promotion last season. Tonda Eckert was his assistant for part of that promotion season - get the old team back together but to get Saints promoted.

  • Knows British football
  • Respected as player and manager
  • Currently not such a huge superstar he wouldn't talk to us (?)
  • Would make Spors look farsighted potentially.
  • Doesn't fit SR's usual manager mould which even they must admit isn't working
  • Ballotelli doesn't like him - so it would seem he doesn't suffer fools

Could be worth a shot. Also Harwood-Bellis could invite him to the wedding and sit him next to his new father in law for a laugh

We should be looking for a guy who's proven at this level.

Gets teams promoted.

Unlike Still has a clear defined style of play.

The players can get on board with.

Lovely hair and beard.

Sexy girlfriend.

Lets get back our Russ.

Poem is on its way to the Echo now.

Is this you?

I haven't seen that before, but some personal highlights:

They did all of that to Ralph, causing us relegation then.
Now they've gone and done it to you, sending us spiralling down once again!

No one will save us this time, as you are no longer here.

Once again, the loudest people have won.
We are sorry that minority let you down.
If our real fans could have had their own way, it would be them we would boot out of town!

What a pair of idiots.

For my two cents’ worth, I think we’d be shopping in the available managers market rather than poaching from another club.

Russell Martin would probably be the preferred choice of the ‘leaders’ (lol) in the squad — Stephens, Downes, Manning, Armstrong, THB, etc. He’s clearly got his mates within the dressing room. However, I think he’d divide the fans and be on the back foot from day one.

Ralph is available and was spotted at the Bristol City game, so I’m not surprised he’s being linked. I think he’d improve performances, but I doubt he’d want to drop into this league. I’d be interested in seeing a poll on how popular this would be.

As Steve mentioned on TSP last night, I don’t think Gary O’Neil can even be considered given his Pompey connections.

Tony Mowbray would be a pretty uninspiring option after his stint at West Brom last season, but he knows the division and would at least get us organised.

Given Spors’ links to the German market, Marco Rose being available is interesting. Ex-Leipzig, Gladbach and Dortmund, he’s got a strong pedigree. It’s very doubtful he’d come down to the Championship, but he was linked with Rangers recently, so maybe he would?

That said, Michael Carrick feels like a really good fit for where we are right now. He did an impressive job at Middlesbrough given the budget there, playing possession-based football that was affective for us last time in this division, but hopefully with a bit more balance and pragmatism. He’s shown he can develop young players (Archer and Azaz) and is a name that’s played at the top level and would hopefully be respected by the squad.

I would also be very interested in a poll on Ralph returning.

Next time my kids have to do a poetry competition at school I'll just get them to copy and paste that

My guess is the majority don't want him back but if he starts winning a load of games people won't mind much.

I'd have him back in a heartbeat, he's a known quality that loves the club and will light a rocket under all the players with shit attitude... Will be boufal, hoedt, lemina levels of clear out... 😅

We've also got the right players to play his 4-2-2-2 system.

Charles / jander / romeu / Downes / matsuki / essay as CMs.

Proper wide attacking mids in scienza, fellows, Robinson, Fraser, AA.

And pacey strikers with decent movement in AA, Archer, and the academy lad. Plus Stewart when he is back.

Not to mention good wing backs...

Think this wins the most pathetic thing I’ve seen at saints this season, and that’s with some very stiff competition. Absolute embarrassment

If Carlos Corberan is just about to get sacked by Valencia he should definitely be on the list.

But it doesn't matter who they pick if they don't back him in January by fixing the hole's up front and in goal and bring in players to match the managers way of playing.

The other 'big issue' they need to deal with is getting rid of the 'senior players' that seem to be causing issues for every manager we have.

Or they do the opposite, and appease them by bringing back their boyfriend.

Yes it will.

well if its between him and dickhead Martin then i'll take Ralph and if Ralph is the reason Romeu is coming back then ok........................but it all seems too contrived and unlikely to me.

If they do that then we will be a laughing stock, even more than at present. They can have my season ticket back, I wont be going as long as that arrogant twat is there sucking up to (or off) Stephens and co !

Just a minute ago my mind was full of images of Helga, Michelle of the resistance and Yvette in various states of undress and lingerie.

Now I can't get Elaine Bushrod and Jenny Rogers out of my head, for completely "different" reasons.

Apologies, if you have any of those images of Helga, Michelle or Yvette please feel free to post to cheer us all up 👍🏻

I'm sure the writers of Allo Allo could put together a great sitcom of Sports Republic era, loads of comedy characters have been involved from Rasmus to Russ, young Will Still, Tall Paul, Death Metal Ivan Juric , list is endless

Do they? Seems to me that Still just didn't have a clue how to set his team up and lost the dressing room accordingly. Last season they were just crap, full stop.

Agree, get a manager in who knows the league and pay out for best possible loans we could get in January

Almost certainly it was us back in September who the players had said they weren't happy with the manager. I think Still was just a bit clueless tactically.

A very good call, but I can't see him dropping from managing a team towards the top of the Bundesliga in recent years to a relegation threated English team in the Championship.  But he is available ....

That's the same manager though. I was asking who these 'every managers' are that senior players are causing issues with.

Heard that Romeu left in the first place because he’d had enough of Ralph.

Romeu left after Ralph? Romeu played a couple of games under Martin, didn't he?

Lost my mind. All the shite has merged into one hellish campaign.
