Interns get treated abominably in many industries. Including the legal profession that puts incredible pressure on their interns to work crazy hours.

I can confirm this as I have seen all season of Suits. Rachel Zane gets bullied a fair bit in that.

Believe it or not, this also happened at the 2014 World Cup, which Germany won - and who was an analyst with them? Oh yeah.

World Cup 2014: Fifa investigating France training ground 'drone' - BBC Sport

France were always likely to play Germany during the knockouts, which they did - and Germany won fwiw. Makes you wonder. That crazy Brazil 1- 7 Germany game happened in that tournament too. What the actual.

My wife has an interesting angle on this. She knows a bit about football especially Saints, living in a family of Southampton supporters. Putting the FA enquiry to one side she simply doesn’t understand why we would sack Tonda. He has been our best manager since Ralph. Everyone in football is cheating to one degree or another. There are lots of bullies in football - see Sir Alex. Therefore why sack him?

Maybe we can announce that he's gone an hour or so before kick off and let it somehow serve as a bit of a distraction to Boro.

I’d say to him today, we will give you six months severance if after we sack you you at midday, you go to the hotel where Middlesbrough are training and spy on them. Wearing a flashers mac with your hands in your pockets.

its a bit like saying, why wont anyone one England sign Mason Greenwood, you know, not been convicted and odds of her men rape girls, but he is a brilliant striker.

I mean, really?! Awful comparison to make. The things that mason greenwood has been accused of in no way equates to the Spying or bullying alleged. Kinda disgusting you would equate the two

Very interesting that rape and asking someone to watch some footballers training are comparable on your moral compass.  Says a lot about your world view.

not saying it does but suggesting we should keep Tonda as he night be quiet good, despite him a proven cheat and central to a massive shock to the club, is equally mental

Very creepy that this seems comparable to him doesn't it.

Love this! To me it just shows how thorough and conscientious he is and his desire to win! He lives and breaths it. Just strengthens the argument that it is an accepted practice in the sport. It's not cheating, it's doing your revision before an exam! It's only seen as 'cheating' in the EFL as they half-heartedly imposed the dumb rule after the Leeds fiasco.....which nobody really gave a fuck about anyway!

I know I'm in the minority but I'd like Tonda to stay if the FA don't fuck him over. We need someone with that streak and desire to win. Fuck all these woke cunts and yes men.

I agree with most of what youre saying but Im not sure what on earth wokism has to do with it.

In modern football with all of its corruption and cheating, there are only two reasons for fans to keep supporting their clubs in the midst of it all.

Either you're a fan of one of the top clubs watching them win, able to at least enjoy celebrating success.

Or you're a fan of a club not winning anything, but you can be proud of being a decent club going about their business the right way, respected by neutrals and not getting involved in the darker arts of the game.

If you can't be proud of the club you support and you can't enjoy winning anything, then what are you doing it for?

Can we please stop talking about Tonda like he was some sort of genius.

All he did, eventually, was set the team up in the 4-2-3-1 that we had all wanted from the start of the season.

He looks good because he’s compared with that total useless charlatan Will Still.

With the squad we had, it is criminal we weren’t promoted.  That is all on the club and their choice of manager last season.  If they had gone for a manager with more experience and a bit about him rather than another in the mould of all the previous failures they appointed we wouldn’t be in this position now.

Eckert is not a genius.  He is a cheat.  He is easily replaceable.

Please Mr Solak, don’t make another hipster appointment.

Being thrown out of the play-offs, potentially losing £200m, getting a 4 point deduction, being found unanimously guilty by an independent panel, being found unanimously guilty by an appeal panel, having individuals investigated and almost certainly charged by the FA, being vilified in the world's media and it probably leading to the decimation of our management, coaching and playing staff would suggest that ‘but it’s not cheating!!!11!’ isn’t a view that’s widely shared.

And ‘thorough and conscientious’ aren’t the words that spring to mind when I read the facts of how he and his crack team went about their brilliant plan, personally. Putting the rights and wrongs of it aside, the whole thing was staggeringly amateurish and inept from start to finish. He's a fucking moron.

Fair point. Just one thought on that though. Southampton have always been seen as a family friendly, nice, provincial club that looks after its people. We often get bracketed with clubs like Norwich and Ipswich. And that’s all good and other clubs and their fans like us and respect us save for that lot down the road. But now being 57 years old and having supported Saints for well over 50 years and my Dad, Grandad and Great Grandad before, it would be bloody nice to win something. If that means having to sacrifice even to a small degree some of that niceness then I’d take it. Just one trophy. It’s the hope that kills but also keeps you coming back for more.

By the way, personally I think we should have sacked the fucker three days ago. Just giving an independent third party’s view on this.

We've managed everything about this wrong, and we seem to now also be managing the aftermath wrong.

Why have the only true, personal, candid words been from the players? (A couple of players).

Why haven't the club immediately contacted local media to front up what's happened here and immediately try to swing the narrative? I get we are guilty, bang to rights, but at least try to protect yourself and come out of it with some dignity. Immediately showing strength by coming out and speaking, removing people, or at least 'suspensions', would have been the least to expect up to this point.

To have so far said nothing, other than them still saying it was disproportionate (it was, but that's not the point) is another sorry affair with SR and their 'machine'. Fucking own it SR, talk to the people candidly about what has gone on here. We don't want corporate bullshit or woe be me platitudes, we need to see and hear action - and so far, it's about as silent as our defence.

'They' being the EFL. I was talking about the FA... A completely separate body to the EFL, with their own rulebook. The fact that the EFL have a new rule for this misdemeanor shouldn't be a consideration for the FA. They should be looking at it through the same prism they did for Bielsa / Leeds.

Edit: anyway, looks like we'll probably sack him before the FA get their pound of flesh, so a moot discussion anyway... Plus I've had far too many beers this evening... Hic :)

True. The "theys" are different. My point being that because we've breached the rule for one, it means that it's easier for the other to then show we've then breached whatever they have. All without the FA having to do much work.

It's almost like they think by not saying anything this will all just disappear and be forgotten about in a few weeks. Nobody at the club seems to be able to make or want to make decisions.

Nothing more fatal for a business than dithering and prevaricating. Shows a lack of leadership.

There is the nub of it. I'm 60 years supporting Saints, as did my father, and grandfather. Support stretching back to before Saints joined the league. That torch has been passed to my children, and grandchildren. It will be the same story for most on here.

That is how support is built for clubs like Saints. Loyalty and a family bond that keeps you going.

Success is rarely expected (or achieved), but we have a way closer connection to the club, and each other, than the corporate big six. Exactly the same as pretty much every other club.

We're all hurting right now.  SR have put a massive dent in that support. Things will calm down eventually, but the owners need to get their act together and fast.

If you can't be proud of the club you support and you can't enjoy winning anything, then what are you doing it for?

I was pretty proud of our 2nd division side knocking out the champions elect of England, premier league Fulham, and being 82min and a deflected shot away from knocking out man city at wembley - none of which were influenced by any illegal spying...

Did you not enjoy that, were you not proud of it? Those results weren't fake. This was a fantastic team and tonda is a superb footballing coach.

We're being hammered in the court of public opinion for scouting opposition training inside an arbitrary window that doesn't exist in any major leagues. Yes it's a bit naughty, yes it's beyond stupid and amateur, but it's not the big deal the press have made it out to be.  Bielsa did the exact same thing and didn't get banned by the FA... Let's see what happens in today's world of social media echo chambers and people that struggle more and more to think for themselves rather than doing what they're pressured to do/think.

If Boro can gaslight our own fans into comparing Eckert to mason greenwood, i dread to think what the FA will feel empowered to do. The whole thing is a superb example of how readily most people can be manipulated by the media and social media, and the dangers of echo chambers.

Regardless of his managerial ability, the report is damming, it shows him to have broken rules and bullying junior members of staff, that itself means he should leave.

we can move on from this shambles with those involved in it still doing their jobs. Southampton have to be seen to be moving on from this and replacing those who did it should be the first step.

The complete vacuum in leadership currently being displayed in the aftermath of a shitstorm, is the exact reason why we find ourselves in the aftermath of a shitstorm to begin with.

Is anyone really surprised?

There appears to be a Phill parsons sized hole at the top of the club. Funnily enough, I'm not even sure that sacking him would change it... Need someone serious in as CEO asap.
