If this man is bright enough to find the knoll, film the training, have an escape plan with change of clothes then surely he isn't dumb enough not to use a cheap second hand phone bought for cash and a data sim bought from Tesco ?

The more I go into this the more I realise how devious I am.

Or walk around Trafalgar Square for five minutes waving his phone in the air. Then resetting it remotely as soon as it's stolen.

Or get a mate to steal it from you.

Radio Solent beating themselves sore with sticks. Had to turn Adam and Joe off.

Classic BBC stuff. Lewis Coombes doing the same last night, bleating on about Saints damaging their goodwill and public perception as a result of employee misconduct. Err, you work for the BBC mate, you would know...

Good point I feel better, but Leeds lost. If Saints win It'd imagine it might be brought up once or twice.

I didn't intend being a complete melt in my list, although clearly am.

My main point was that we can tough this out obviously, the real damage will come if the idiots gave been doing this all year.

Leeds were doing for half a season, Bielsa gave an in-depth press conference on it. How it added to the overall information but wasn’t crucial.

These Middlesbrough cunts on Sky - the state of it. Pure desperation. Also, every whine and bitch goes in the locker of a decent litigation lawyer’s process to drive a coach and horses through any bullshit ‘case’. Honestly this is pathetic from MFC and the media.

Wood - 25 starts, 2 clean sheets

Laughable that Alfie House earlier in the season was calling him a Premier League CB in waiting. He's been mostly crap against Champ oppo this year.

Forget about the spy incident, focus on the game and deal with it later.  Seems like a massive distraction and a deliberate one.  Put in a performance today and bring it back to St Mary's next week, COYR 💪

I have nothing but the utmost respect for anyone capable of watching the pre match buildup to any football match on Sky.

Tonda has got to be the worst manager you could want to have to go and face the press in this situation.

His facial expressions are never aligned with what he’s saying.

Boro manager said it hasn't affected their preparation 🤷

Also made a clear accusation before process. What a fucking idiot!

Sky Sports have a verdict already - Saints guilty of something or other. They then turn to the 'Boro manager for comment and the response was along the lines of "what the hell are you on about"?

I’m avoiding the build up - I’ll put it on at 12:30.

Jeez - logging on from Spain where I'm on holiday - was looking forward to this two-leg semi-final...now, catching up with this spygate issue it's really taken the wind out of my sails.
I think this forum is underestimating the 'setting an example' stance the EFL will make of this incident.
A couple of questions remain for me - why has the culprit not been named? Seems like they've already confirmed he's a Southampton FC employee. I find it hard to believe he was acting as a lone wolf...even if top management genuinely didn't know the plausible deniability has to stop somewhere.
The other question is timing - was it 72 hours ahead of the game or less? Apparently there's a timing constraint. I presume it's less otherwise why all the fuss.
Either way it looks and smells bad - cheating is not the way to win.
What a terrible situation to put the players in. We must have been favourites to win given our form and could/should have been able to do this without cheating.
Now, I fear the worst - call me alarmist if you like - but I can see us being disqualified after the second leg. Really, really hope I'm wrong.

Partly true but the first shot had him smiling and the way he swiftly changed that to ultra serious the second the first question about spygate came was superb viewing.

Downes had better be aware that the ref will likely be more than willing to hand out a Saints red card this afternoon.

If that were to happen SFC would commence legal proceedings and the EFL would lose the case. If proven it will be a fine.

Or breach of privacy?

Not so much. They can ask. They can be refused. As I understand it, any handing over of data would be voluntary unless it winds up in civil litigation and is subject to discovery. Noting that while I've spent way too much of my adult life in the room with lawyers that I am not one.

Cant stand the little rat man Phillips. Is he supposed to be there as balance for a saints guy on their sky team.

It should be Franny on there today, I bet he'd have something to say about spying

True, although it would be beyond funny if the ref gave us a bunch of dodgy decisions.

Even Kevin Phillips, who is wheeled out as a ‘Saints’ connection, but rarely has a good word to say about the club, clearly knows he is surrounded by clueless idiots.

I didn’t realise our record was so shit against the other play off teams. Although we won 1 drew 3 against the top 2.

Indeed, although most of those games came pre Tonda-ball I believe

Refs in this league give dodgy decisions every game,  nothing that has happened will make any difference to that

As much as I'd love us to kill the tie today, I'm expecting a cagey affair like these first legs always are. I wouldn't be surpised by a 1-1 draw which I don't think would be a bad result to take back to St. Mary's.
