If you wish the new Southampton manager to be
Answer me these questions three

  1. Will you play a back five?
  2. Will you play Bazunu in goal?
  3. Will you play Archer as the number nine?

If the answer to all three is no - the job is yours!

Isn't his brand of football boring

If he can get us up while conceding 16 goals all season like he did with Burnley then yeah that’s fine

TONDA TO STAY FOR FUCK SAKE!!

Good I'd rather keep him and having to endure watching football played by a Scott Parker setup...

We’ll decide to keep him. Then the FA will conclude their investigation and suspend him, meaning we need a new manager. He needs to go and the sooner the better

But non of that will happen until 2nd September then new manager appointed mid September who dislikes current squad of players & who’s tactics are polar opposites of squad ability

As posted elsewhere, this would also buy silence.

Parker? More than likely that he'll be at West Ham before the end of next week.

Unless Spurs really screw up today.

We'll get someone we've never heard of.

Think I’ve read that West Ham will keep Nuno.

All depends where you read. Some say yay and some say no. Same for Parker I suppose.

Wash your mouth out with soap young man. Don't you know it's the Sabbath

Whats not to love? His teams dominate games, train like beasts and hes skilled at eliminating scar tissue which we'll have a lot of now. PLus he's got a history of achieving promotion on the first time of asking. Yep I'm thinking its RMs red and whites steaming into Edgeley Park in August

I would rather have ‘someone we’ve never heard of’ instead of the usual journeymen managers that do the rounds but never really deliver or whose football is boring. Bournemouth/Brighton can do it, then so can we. I like Frank but wonder if it was Keith Andrews who was running the show at that time.

A massive NO to Russell Martin, who along with Puel, who produced the most soporific football.

The club obviously needs a manager that will get promotion next season but it also needs to change what is now widely perceived to be a rotten culture, it needs to get players, fans, sponsors, and the wider community back on board and give the likes of the saints trust opportunities to benefit from association with the club.

Gareth Southgate would be well suited to the role. Good leader. Understands the bigger picture. Former England manager. Saints connection. Well connected in world football and highly regarded by the FA. Squeaky clean. And a neat irony, strong Middlesborough connections.

I suspect Saints would have little or no chance of getting him and I dunno what he’s doing now, probably fannying around playing golf. Just saying, he fits.

Looks like West Ham are just about to sack Nuno.  Would be surprised if Parker doesn’t get appointed there.

Gone into talks about his future at the club.

Provided he will accept a relegation reduction to his salary, they’d be mad to sack him given he’s won that league.

But depends what their finances are like - not good was the last I saw even if a miracle had happened yesterday. £160-180m in transfer fees owing.

EDIT - it’s worse, £196m according to Kieron Maguire who usually knows his stuff https://www.hammers.news/news/new-196m-west-ham-revelation-turns-up-the-heat-on-clubs-under-fire-board/

He was released circa 43 years ago, so I doubt how much he'd care about it or the club now.

In the unlikely event he’s appointed can’t see him starting a press conference (as did Mark Hughes) saying he has “an affinity” with the club.

IMO the club needs to make a serious statement about future governance and the   way the football side operates. A senior, hands on role for Southgate would be such a statement, and despite a lot of people’s reservations about his football management, he would be a very valuable person to have on board.

He might even see  it as a decent challenge .

I like Murphy the Cardiff manager. He's statistical and positional like Tonda.

I have a funny feeling it'll be Lallana

The one thing that would p*ss off the fan base even more than the current debacle is to replace Tonda with Lallana. If we have to sack Tonda, it needs to be someone with instant credibility otherwise it’ll very quickly turn toxic.

What are the thoughts on Garner? The dramatic turnaround happened after his arrival, and he must have been an integral part of the team selection, tactics and substitution decisions.

Some of the names being suggested scare the shit out of me - especially if we'd like to keep playing the kind of attractive football we've seen since January.

15% sell on for Fernandes with West Ham looking for £80m. Could be very beneficial this summer….

Assume it’s the 15% on the profit from £38m to say £80m

Any thoughts @Matthew Le God?

Great. He'll replace Slot next season, saying it's the club of his dreams (again) 🙂

The absolute worst case is opting for Lallana, and Bazanu back in goal. League One will be calling.

I think Parker will go to West Ham - ex player draw etc.

But then, I was told to 'calm down laddie' by a certain poster on here when I dared to suggest we might be in trouble over Spygate, so I await his usual declarative tone about who the new manager is because he knows just like when Ward Prowse was definitely staying.

😉

I could post a response so blindingly obvious that it might almost insult even someone of your intelligence but I really can’t be bothered.

I can't be bothered to go back through 6 pages so this may not be original.

Pep is available and has experience of managing cheating clubs!!

Tonda will divide fan opinion whether he stays or goes, and that isn’t good for SR or the fanbase.

Assuming he goes Sport Republic have two options:
1) Alienate fans further by hiring another left-field nobody
2) Actually pay out and try and get a head coach/manager with a bit of experience that will rouse the players and fans

I don’t have any real confidence in Sport Republic or their strategy, but based on the last four years it’s almost like they’re still trying to figure out what their strategy is too.
But they need to get people onside.

A year ago was shit or busy for them, apparently, but I can’t see Dragan Solak walking away from a £200m+ investment, I’d certainly be looking to recoup that money back.
