Then you think where do players like Shea Charles and THB go. Shea looks like he could be off to Fulham, but I'm hoping THB will fit in nowhere. Can see West Ham with all their millions making a bid but otherwise, not too sure where he'd fit in. It makes no sense for THB to go to West Ham. He’s already been promoted twice, could have been 3 times, played in the premier league and for England. He doesn’t have anything to prove at the level. If he’s going to go it’s because a premier league team want him he won’t go to a top 6 club but there would be a handful of lower half teams who would take him. 6

I guess if no PL team is showing interest then West Ham might be a decent option. Maybe a new bumper contract on more money and perhaps a team more likely to get promotion? It's not beyond the realms of possibility, but are West Ham realistically going to spend £25-£30m on a CB whilst in this division? 1

Konstantinos Mavropanos...I think there was some talk of interest from Leeds and Arsenal, but no idea if it's credible talk. They seem pretty set in that position unless there is a departure. They perhaps need one more, but they have two young guys that might be able to step up as fourth choice, not sure if they are ready or not.

I’m fairly sure later in the window when clubs have missed out on other targets a bottom half team will come in for him. He’ll be a good signing for one of those Edited 11 hours ago by Turkish

I think THB is in a bit of a weird situation in that some things he does at an excellent level - attacking headers, picking passes going forward - but some things he's not great at for the top level, like defending against pacey and strong attackers like the top teams have. I'm not sure if a PL team would come in for him, even a lower half one, if we're asking for 20 mill+. He might be better suited to somewhere like Spain or Italy actually. As ever, it depends on whether the player wants the move or not. If he does, I suspect we would take that. Perhaps even 20. There is the lure of London, and playing in a team that appears like it is gunning for immediate promotion, whereas the uncertainty around our own manager's position may also be a little unsettling for some. We need to offer him more money if the rumours about his weekly wage are true. Or at least offer big goal bonuses... 1

Because he's more of a vocal leader than Stephens and it may persuade him to stay. He also seems like a player who thrives with that responsibility and he is likely to play more games than Stephens if he stays. I'd make Stephens club captain like Kelvin was. 4

Saint_lambden Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Brereton Diaz looking likely to head to Sheffield United. 6
CSA96 Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Scienza is usually a pretty upfront character and says what he thinks/feels. That reads to me that if a PL club comes to the table, he'd like the chance to speak to them and try and make a move happen. If it isn't there, then he's happy to stay here - probably with an increased salary to reflect his worth to the team and a release clause if the PL comes knocking in 12 months time and Saints are still a Championship side. Sounds fair enough to me 11

I'm not convinced - at this stage of the window at least - that any Premier League side is going to pay the £30m+ we'd want for him given he's 27 and therefore no resale value or massive ceiling for him to get even better. 2

Agree, I can see a scenario where the transfer window ends with Saints announcing that Scienza has signed a new deal (glorified pay rise announcement) just to put to bed the situation and focus him on the season ahead
hypochondriac Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago I'll console myself with the fact that they won't all be going. In a worst case scenario I reckon we keep two of Jander, Charles, Scienza and THB. Get some decent replacements in and we will be fine. 1

Challenger Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Will probably lose a few late on in the window and have no time to replace, in the traditional SR way. 1

I think West Ham may well be nailed on for a quick return, I personally think they'll piss the league by a country mile sadly with Wolves in their slipstream. I think we'll be competitive but don't see any other outcome for automatic promotion. There are two question marks. Would we sell to direct rival? Would he start at West Ham? 2

Unless we go up, in which case I think he'll stay and go on to be a club favourite. Personally I think we might lose Jander, THB and Charles, the problem obviously is replacing them properly but it could mean other players may agitate for a move if we start to look unambitious. I'm sure the club will want to keep them, just depends on the finances. I'm not sure about Leo, he doesn't seem the sort to go on strike or hand in a transfer request if he doesn't get a move. Ideally need to offload the unwanted lot as soon as possible so we have funds to bring in other players.

If Jander stays, then our starting 11 is not really weakened, but our depth in midfield is. it’s not a given that Bragg will kick on and be better (or even the same) as last season, and even Jander varied a lot last season. He was good, then poor around January, and then very good at the end of the season. So we need to replace Charles when/if we sell. I actually think THB might be the biggest loss, not just the player, but the character and the mentality that he brings. But I love watching Leo and Jander, so I’m glad I don’t have to make the decision 😀

Whether he will go for that, we don't know... I think the Tonda situation is a poblem as not sure he will make that commitment while there's still a chance we have to change manager.
