Wishful thinking but could it be that Saints weren't named in the running for Jordan James because the Shea deal wasn't agreed at that point, now it's done and dusted we could enter the running and crucially pay the fee they're asking for.

You saw something I didn't then. For me both sides were sluggish and pretty poor. I saw nothing from either team to convince me they'll finish ahead of us even with the 4 point deduction.

Not totally sold on Lankshear either and glad we didn't sign him.

Likewise. I heard rumblings from Wrexham beforehand that it was a weakened team from them, also with 'Boro they still looked a bit meh, especially at the back.

Maybe it's me doing 2+2=5, but if Mubama's the only striker we're bringing in and we're getting rid of BBD and Archer, he stays as third striker. Nobody's going to pay anywhere near the amount we did, so I'm sure the club are willing to give him another shot. 

I keep seeing this, what makes people think we're getting rid of Archer this window?

I think the club would obviously listen to offers for him, but they surely wouldn't get rid of him without bringing in someone else of a similar style.  I just don't see it happening, at least not on the terms the club would want.

He was very keen and close to leaving in January (if not for Armstrong move scuppering his move to Rangers)

So i would not be at all surprised to see him moved on if he doesn't want to be here

Middlesborough have already won the league .... according to their fans. Apparently their second half performance was "amazing".

Saturday, when they are home to Lincoln will be interesting.  Lincoln according to the BBC outplayed Derby on Saturday but apparently stand no chance if Boro repeat their second half form.

He went to Sevilla for just £5.5m in the end (rising to £7.6m). He looked just what we needed, but Sevilla a great move for him.

Yep. He signed for PL team and now finds himself third choice in the championship. I'm sure he'd jump at any half decent opportunity. Whether that comes is another thing. WBA are obviously keen, but we are holding out for a reasonable fee.

If its another striker then they must be reasonably confident they'll be able to get rid of at least BBD and Damo on decent terms (transfer or loan). Feck me, I hope so....

Not sure what another striker in does for Archer; straight replacement or as well, as well seems unlikely IMO.

As a person with English as a second language, I read that as he is another option op front for us, that Johannes wanted, not that we are looking for another striker in addition to him.

Might be wrong, but I think it’s just poorly worded.

My take too. He is Stewart’s replacement. Dobbin is the extra no 10 that Spors alluded to before he signed and we shall get a replacement for Charles. I would imagine any more incoming would be dependent on who else leaves.

I’d be massively surprised if there was another striker signed, I think it’s just the way FR worded that tweet. I think we’re most likely to see two departures up front from here on.

Genuinely hadnt realised until last May how fucking mental they are, saw a comment on the Vivek signing by a Boro fan saying squad coming together for an amazing season WHICH THEY DESERVE AFTER WHAT THEY WENT THROUGH LAST SEASON unless I'm missing something are they still continuing with this victim narrative?

TBF spurs did negotiate a buyback so it's not really the case that they were happy to sell.

That's not really all that different to us remaining pissed off we got booted out. No point living in what happened in the past. Focus on the now and winning our next game. Give ourselves the best chance of being promoted and staying up.

I watched a fair part of the Victims vs wrexham game. I thought they looked much like they did last season - i.e., nice attacking football, look like they create a lot of chances (but not that many clear cut chances), and quite exposed to direct teams playing straight through them once they've committed. Lincoln have to be the most direct side in the league and will be going to the Victimside full of confidence and vs an expectant home crowd and a squad that has had the most spent on it this summer (i think anyway). There is certainly a chance that Middlesbrough come unstuck on the weekend.

Frustratingly, i reckon they'll be the league's darlings this year however, and accordingly we should probably brace for them to be given a helping hand by the officials at various points through this season, probably starting this weekend 😑. Can't have poor old Hellberg crying on national TV about thinking he's a failure again (although after 3 bottle jobs and no shots on target in the play off final, i'd argue all evidence suggests he is...)

Him, Jander and Scienza, I still think we should brace ourselves until September 2nd. We want to keep them I'm sure and the Shea sale probably gives us financial leeway and we will probably say no until the right bid comes in but I wouldn't be surprised to see teams coming in for those 3. 

Course we CAN say no but then it boils down to player power, or lack thereof, as to whether we have to look at selling them.

I think we have generally moved on other than a few chants which are fair enough, Middlesbrough on the other hand are fucking mentally ill thinking they were in any way negatively impacted by us last season and are desperate to carry a victim complex into this season

Not if the rumour is made up! The rumour is for less than Saints paid for him. What is the incentive for Saints to agree to that? Hard to take such a rumour seriously and that journalist has a track record of bullshit!

Was worried until I saw it's Sacha 0% success rate reporting it. It's going to take a Charles like fee, and more now that we've banked the Charles fee to get THB.

With one sale it would depend on the replacement signing and it would up to Spors to pluck another jewel. 2 or 3 of them sold and I'd be extremely pessimistic of our promotion chances. 

THB would probably be the biggest loss though of those 3, then Jander, then Leo although as it stands we only have the 3 CMs.

Agreed although losing THB at this stage would be a massive blow. We'd have to bed in a new cb and get a new understanding without preseason and when we simply have to have a fast start.

Yep, Jack and Wood would do a job but not in the same way, and their back ups would be Quarshie and Kayi Sanda. 

Hope we keep them all frankly.
