Tonda did this a few times last season too, putting Azaz wide instead of at number 10. Didn't seem to  work well to me , but tbf I suppose Tonda knows a bit more about tactics than I do! 😉

This is spot on. It was the set up that caused most of our problems and hung Bragg out to dry. Leo doesn't understand the role like Azaz does which is why there were huge gaps in the middle for Watford to exploit. Unusual for Tonda to get it so wrong. No idea why Dobbin didn't play the Azaz role. Preston fans warned he doesn't tend to play well on the left.

Yep. Team selection was odd. You put your best wingers on the wings, and your best 10 as a 10. Scienza left, Azaz in behind, Matsuki or Fellows right shouldn't have been in dispute imo.

We dropped him when we were in the Prem. We are not in the Prem anymore. Stephens is perfectly fine in the Championship as shown last season.

I would hate to think it's a full season consolidation but splitting it up works on both counts. (If it works at all of course).

Sounds like a load of old shit to me. Sorry to be blunt and no offence intended at all. You might well be right that the club are thinking this way. 

But the aim should be to win every fucking game and go all out for promotion, start, middle and end of the season. If we hadn't fucked about at the start of last season we'd be in the PL now. The club need to pull their finger out otherwise any decent remaining players left at the end of this window will be wanting out in January and there will be no "push for the playoffs in the second half of the season" at all.

Reminded me of RMs opening day PL match playing with 'no striker' and BBD/Armstrong out wide. Don't be clever is the lesson, just set up to the squad's strengths. Hopefully this isn't repeated against Stoke.

Stevens and THB was Tondas preferred pairing last season and for good reason. It should be this season too until the partnership is broken up by injury or form. Certainly not after the first match of the season, even if Jack had a poir match.

Yep, only played the odd game as a DM, which is a sign he can control a football I suppose.

Started out at Chelsea youth system, then went to Brighton, left them for free to Feyenoord but not played for them. Did his cruciate, came back last year and played a lot for Estoril.

Couldn’t begrudge THB of pushing for that move. There’s a very comfortable route into that side at the moment.
