Have people not learnt from the Walcott, Lallanna and Romeu disasters that signing previous players doesn’t work yet? JWP would be a complete waste of a signing.

Sports Republic needed to hit the ground running this window, more so than any other considering the points deduction and black cloud over the cheat in the dugout. Yet here we are in the final week of the window needing a complete overhaul still. Defeat on Saturday and we are already 10 points behind Millwall. Not attracting sod all then.

I hope not. Unless theres a second CM in addition to JWP that will mean Akachukwu will be the 4th...not sure thats the best option. Downes Jander Bragg and JWP and the main CMs would be ideal for me.

My assumption would be that we would get two in if Jander was to leave. So

Downes

JWP

Bragg

Charles replacement

Not saying I'd like that but it seems most like to me if we sign JWP.

Fair point. We are certainly giving ourselves a lot to do in this final week of the window, however players want to play and he may well want a move, so you do have to consider that.  Also, both may be on very decent wages for the championship, which is not ideal for a back up. Possibly we can loan them out and bring in a player Tonda actually wants. Maybe on less money. Maybe get Aluko from Leicester, which would add some young talent to the squad.

We would be leaving ourselves a lot to do if we were doing nothing up to now. The club clearly have a number of irons in the fire and are waiting to see which options pan out and which don’t. The whole window thing is a nonsense. It used to work fine when the window eventually slammed shut in March. Why change it? Now, with two short periods of business, clubs can be left high and dry by last minute changes. This only benefits the bigger clubs or those with some proper money to spend. Clubs like us are held to hostage in the last days and are totally reliant on what happens elsewhere. You can’t blame player’s agents for waiting to see what the best offer is for their client, but if you keep the transfer window open for most of the season this becomes less of an issue.

The ridiculous premium on half decent home grown players is another issue, but then transfer fees in general have long been beyond ridiculous.

Five year contracts are also a nonsense. They only last three years in many cases because of the danger of players running their contracts down and leaving for nothing. The whole thing needs a reset.

We need a midfielder who can carry the ball not pass it 5 yards sideways.

Last night we didn’t even have a player who could pass it to a teammate 5 yards sideways.

I seem to remember Mike Channon doing ok when he came back. Not every returning  player is going to fail. The trick is to bring the right one back.

As for being points adrift. We are only two league games in to a very long season. How far were we behind when we started our unbeaten run last season? Yes, it is not ideal starting off with a lot to do, but being 10 points behind Millwall in August is not the end of the world.

I think you need to compare ages. These players I also think had a good impact around the club.....

*13 points on Saturday. Still August.

And if we took JWP on, his waes next year will be a massive burden if we dont go up. The time getting replacements in could really hurt us, as 3 points now is worth as much as at any game in the season.

I would be really disappointed to get JWP back.  He’s another sideways/backwards merchant.  We don’t want any more of them.

What about the goals and the free kicks?

Not sure I can see West Ham being willing to strengthen us like that on a loan deal?

it can strengthen them too, as they get a big wage off their bill, which can possibly be spent elsewhere, plus it gets an unwanted player out the door, which makes the manager's life easier on a day to day basis. Difficult for them to say, we don't want you, you wont get any games here, but no you cant join that club.

Why buy, when we could loan him?

well he hasnt scored a free kick since he left and I recall an interview some while ago where he said he wasnt practising them. Do we really need a plodding midfielder, on massive money, I believe we need some energy and bite. I also cant recall many threaded balls that created chances

I reckon we'll buy two CBs and everyone will be happy that Stephens in out of the team.

Then Bree will get injured and Captain Jack will stand in at right back 🤣

I suppose getting JWP back means we replace Captain Sparrow with his captaincy.

Its a shame as Prowsey choose to fuck off and now he wiggles back with his tail between his legs because nobody else wants to play for us cheats.

Heard we’re still begging Ratkov and promising him the penthouse at Ocean village.

You'd have thought a hotel of that stature would offer an internet service for such things, rather than magazines...

Yeah, but apart from the goals and the free kicks, what has JWP ever done for us...?

Yeah? Don't remember him exactly pulling up any trees. But then again, what Derby do is of no interest to me.

8 goals. Worth 3 million to someone I would have thought.
