Solak doing his part to say the right words to try and galvanise the fanbase and club there... There is a way forward where everyone pulls together... Who knows, get promoted next season and it may even carry in into the prem and repair the bond between SR and the fans.

As a club and fans, we have been guilty of trying to be media darlings and everyone's favourite underdogs for years - that isn't an option for us anymore. May do us some good.

It may - but we all need to get the tin hats on for next season. Circle the wagons and other clichés. Assuming he's not banned of course. It's the players I'm less sure about. I get that they're under contract but do they want to be here after everything that happened? As for Larin, Peretz and Bree. It'll be interesting to see this play out.

Just heard Crook on Talksport. Not sure what we have done for him to hate us so much but all this hand wringing about 'morals' in the game is so disingenuous it's not true. Absolutely no mention of the - in my view - quite clearly crooked decision by the EFL to allow the two Boro connections on the panel, and then hey presto Middlesbrough get the benefit of losing but getting to the final. Glad that karma kicked them out, the odious lot. So glad Hull won. I think we will now get over this and back Eckert. This is a good statement. He'll get pelters at away games but it will die away and hopefully be eclipsed when Man City get relegated to the Championship and West Ham get reinstated (if you believe the loony rumours).

Here's hoping the FA walk away and to more serious matters than this, which is so insignificant when compared to the rest of football and world events that it is absolutely ludicrous.

Easily explained - he's a loud and proud skate and season ticket holder at that shed down the motorway

More reason for him to shut the fuck up considering the things Pompey have got up to over the years.

Yep, I'm with you. Solak's statement shows a pragmatic, yet reasoned approach.   He's backing Tonda in a way many would not.  He has a level of forgiveness many owners would not offer.    Maybe he has more information and legal advice than the average Saints fan.   One thing's for sure - the expectation on Tonda of getting Saints promoted next season will be huge;  let's hope he has a squad able to deliver under the pressure.

Yeah, but if he backs Tonda (and fights for / saves his career in England with the FA), then he's potentially got an elite manager with a huge debt to him. That's a fairly unique occurrence in football. A lot of ifs and maybes to come, but this could be the start of something special for saints for the next few years - one part of that is the fans rallying together and being behind the manager and club.

One other thing - interesting that Eckert cites Guardiola in this speech, given that the 115 charges are swirling around and will soon (we think) see the light of day. Might have been advised to mention this. Who knows?

I can say that I’ve never willingly and repeatedly broken the laws of my industry and potentially cost the company I work for £200m. Nor have I harassed, borderline bullied, junior members of staff into being complicit, so I don’t think the, “hey, we all make mistakes,” line is really going to fly on this one.

Nevertheless, we’ve clearly made a decision and nailed our colours to the mast, so if this is the direction we’re going then so be it. Hopefully the players are all fully behind him and not being able to spy on other teams training doesn’t detract too much from his management ability.

Let me be very, very clear;

Its a minor infraction and your tears, as well as the Boro fans tears are, quite frankly, delicious

Worried he might lose access?

Agreed. Calling what TE did “morally repugnant” probably wasn’t a good career move.

I'm still concerned that with Tonda here, it will linger over us throughout the summer and will impact on our ability to recruit over the summer, however the apology is welcome and if we make a great start to the season we'll all forget about it quite

I think it does the opposite, strengthens our chance of retaining some of our best players, signing the likes of Peretz and Larin. They would be less willing to get onboard with a new unknown quantity in charge.

Fair play. There will continue to be those who support the club and those who do not, who will want him hung drawn and quartered.

Talking like that (without script as he says it was) is brave in this media world. Clearly there were one or two cuts (hence the video inserts) but actually thats a good thing as it meams he was speaking unacripted.

I take people as I find them. This looks genuine, contrite and sincere.

The club are drawing lines, putting their perspectives and position out there, and making it clear without actually saying it that they are angry yet accepting. This should galvanise everyone with enough time.

ALL the actions over the summer obviously need to come from the club, from the leaders in terms of securing a squad good enough to compete for the title. Dragon has said it. Now he must DO IT!

UP THE SAINTS!!!

Let’s hope if Tonda is as good as we think he is, he remembers the opportunity Solak has afforded him today when a bigger club comes calling.

I havnt listened to Talkshite this morning but JW and AC are masters at creating click bait. Their opinion is not based in logic very often if ever but all about generating comments (divisive "news" generates more commnets/interaction) which all they care about.

F*** the (non-Saints) media. Siege mentality needed.

He's a young manager, and people make mistakes

Death by a thousand whips is for some, but not for me. You make a mistake, you take responsibility for that mistake, then move on

As for the 200m, Hull could have beaten us. It wasn't a given

Given the context explained by Tonda I find it hard to understand just how the so-called "independent" panel came up with the draconian punishment that they handed down, other than it was what "Gibbo" and his press chums were demanding. The whole things still stinks.

I was happy to forget Saints for the summer and watch the world cup and pretend this whole thing didn't happen.

But after all the statements etc in the last 24 hours, I'm raring to go. Start the season now FFS and let's do this 😂

Is this a shift in opinion or do you still believe Tonda is a wanker who shouldn't be near the payroll of the club?

Hostage video.  Spors and Parsons are ultimately responsible for this happening on their watch and both need to go.

I think that fundamentally, their problem is that they're from Middlesborough. A terminal condition. Will be funny when we smash their promotion hopes to pieces next season.

EFL and Boro will demand they both stay behind after training and do 10,000 lines and no cut and paste.

As @James G posted in the spygate thread, if we keep Tonda we will move past this and it will largely be forgotten. Boro, though, will aways be remembered as the side that spent circa 270days in the top 2, lost the semi final, and lost the final of the playoffs. Thats a forever pub quiz question that will be attached to them forever 😄

If Solak can forgive with what he has lost, then I need to as well.
Ultimately we all want the same thing so a united fan base is paramount and we need to back the decision of Solak.

Let’s follow this up with some good news on Bree, Stewart, Larin etc.

Tonda will prove it. The players will be fired up. And the game against the rats of Borough will be electric where we will win to show jim white, gibbons and all those that wanted blood that we don't give a fuck!

But, he's OUR psychopath, and will murder the Teeside stench trench next season!  That's what they are really squinnying about, their own fear.

I don't think Solak and Tonda would have made those statements today without the playing staff sounded out and the majority appeased and already on board.  If we only lose two or three players (which would have happened anyway if we lost to Hull) and replace them with ready to go quality whilst strengthening elsewhere we should be chomping at the bit.  Would love the club to pull out all the stops for Larin and Peretz asap, as those two were figureheads for us, with perhaps Romeu joining the coaching staff to add a bit of muscle for the inevitable bullshit during games.  Also hope that Dragan is fired up for bankrolling a proper tilt at the title, and that Spors and Ekhert move heaven and earth to make that happen.

Circle the wagons lads, nobody likes us but we don't care, and let's win the lovely old trophy that should have been ours in 1984 - COYR!

Guys, hear me out... : r/Tottenham

1 thing I would say, Tonda (and Spors) owe us one big time.

If they dare consider jumping at the first bigger club who comes in for them, I hope Dragan gets the Serbian Mafia to hunt them down.

Didnt make any difference to the Fulham, Arsenal and the city game did it?

Why not? Leeds won the  Championship trophy and Bielsa was voted EFL Championship Manager of the Year the season after their Spygate scandal.
