Alas, that was a different football club... The new club that plays at Fratton Park (incorporated 2012) have never engaged in any off field misdemeanors, to my knowledge... ;)

aren't they the fans that threw a military flash bang at us but couldn't do that right and hit there own ball boy,I for the life of me do not know why they didn't get a heavy punishment for that.

There’s just not, not the same as without bubble anyway. It feels like any other game out and about.

Definitely takes an edge off the day for sure. Previously you could feel something in the air almost when out around the city even hours before KO, the calm before the storm almost.

That's completely gone now.

Lining up all the way from the station to the stadium to greet them behind their police lines, rumours of them jumping off the train at St Denys or Woolston to avoid the escort, little pockets of skates breaking away and causing grief. You’re right, you could feel it in the air around the city centre on derby day, there’s nothing else like it and the bubble has ruined that.

Mental to think there’s a whole generation that haven’t experienced a St Mary’s derby pre bubble.

Our only hope is a league cup game.

For some reason, the worse the Eckert sanctions are, the more likely I think we'll win.

Can see the logic that it fires everyone up, including the players, to stick two fingers up to the FA.

How about Jander? He'll need a few games to get up to speed

Jander missed the Villa friendly due to injury. It's not looking good for Pompey or the foreseeable future, as you say, he will need a few games to get up to speed.

Thanks, is there a match report somewhere? Had a look on official site must have missed it

I've not seen one. I just asked our friend AI a few days ago.

It wouldn't without a release somewhere.

I think its relying on earlier speculation around his injury as a source, other than result and goal scorer there doesn't seem to be any reporting on who played in the game

The edge may have gone, but you still know it's a derby. I overtook the Portsmouth coach on the M3 last year and outriders weren't allowing you in the middle lane. There were spotters/crime prevention officers on every bridge. At the top of the Avenue, there were half a dozen police transits and then the whole motorcade went down the Avenue with their lights on.

The atmosphere at the match wasn't great, but we were being served a lot of drivel at the time...

The M27 was similar last year: every bridge with more police than a Saturday night in the city centre. I can't recall why I drove, but if I get the train this year I'll be discreet going through Havant and Cosham!

Last year Southampton Central Station was closed all weekend for engineering works. Seems to be open this time

There have been a couple of articles about the police operation on the Portsmouth News website

https://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/football/portsmouth-fc/portsmouth-fc-southampton-south-coast-derby-bubble-busses-st-marys-9224093

https://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/football/portsmouth-fc/portsmouth-fc-southampton-police-south-coast-derby-costs-9219643

"I would love for us to be in a position in the future - if the two clubs remain in the same league - that we won’t need buses. For the fans to have a much more normal experience, we need to make sure we are balancing that with the threat risk assessment... At the moment, the risk is at a point where between these two clubs it still needs that level of intervention. Ultimately, the game and the security arrangements are down to the club themselves and the police are supporting and advising... With the coaches, it’s called a managed travel approach within football, which is very much the decision of the football club. Clearly the police give advice to the club, but the football club have decided that the managed travel approach is what they want to adapt."

Apparently there will be fewer police officers this time around, and also it was the police that specifically requested the games to take place in October and February.

Hopefully we can move away from the bubble after this season. The fans really need to put pressure on the club.

Also, the Portsmouth coaches are arriving a bit later than last year, so hopefully it'll be the same for us and we won't have to get to the ground at 7am!!

The FAB will pander to the club and say how well the bubbles have worked so it’ll all carry on.

I for one would love to see a scenario like the Olympic games opening ceremony. Various fan groups walking together, led by the FAB. We could have regional supporters groups, rainbow Saints, Disabled Saints, Muslim Saints, BAME Saints all walking down Goldsmith Avenue in their respective groups with large placards held showing who they represent applauded along by the local Portsmouth fans and return the welcome when they visit us. However with fans acting like neanderthals this dream is a long way from reality. Rather than criticise ask yourself why football is the only sport that needs "bubbles" and why fans groups support them.

So the club has said it's a police directive but the police say the it's the choice of the clubs?

It was the club's last season and it's the club's this season too, as many of us said on here but got shot down for saying.

I hope TCWTB has a personal toilet monitor this year..

What's the point when the other 2,499 visitors decide to smash up the toilets as they did last year (like they do to their own town, even when they win).

Pompey must surely cover the bill every time they do that, and they already have a very limited financial situation by Championship standards, so might as well let them crack on and we'll disinfect and rebuild afterwards as usual.

Celebrations either end of Chapel Road if we win then and delay the cunts going home.

Be interesting to see how they try and police a section 34 if 30,000 people try and block the roads for a celebration
