Saint Fan CaM Posted 5 June, 2009 Share Posted 5 June, 2009 I wish I could get a bit excited about those fixtures (except Ajax). Dunno - just seems to remind me of how far we've fallen. How long before we're playing these teams in the league? Will they actually help prepare the side for what will be a really ****ty tough season ahead? (OK its fine - I admit I'm feeling a bit low right now...leave me to wallow...)

Saint Fan CaM Posted 5 June, 2009 Share Posted 5 June, 2009 We have always played these kind of teams. These early matches are fitness exercises. Yeah, I know - the list just sits there in isolation though. Its like a little sorry, solitary nugget of news amid a vast expanse of emptiness that exists in the newsfeed from the OS. Talk about chicken and egg - we're playing Eastleigh, but we don't know if a deal has been tied up yet. Or perhaps this is a sign of good news about to come? I am drained. It's There Posted 5 June, 2009 Share Posted 5 June, 2009 Not impressed. It looks like the same in most years...and look how badly we start seasons in most years. Surely a few prem teams would come to us for a warm up, which would challenge our team technically and show them that prem teams have fit players... OK sorry to moan, but sometimes I wish we had people in change who challenged the norm for saints and raised the bar!

I would not consider travelling and paying to see any prem team going through the motions.Ajax is a different proposition.

Thanks for ruining my weekend before it's even started Saints. ****. You miserable sod!!! Eastleigh are non league too mate, in case you havent noticed! Let me tell you now, AFC Totton are a very decent side who play some bloody good football. They have a few players who have played league football like Carl Pettifer ( Ex Southend and Bournemouth ) and Matt Robinson ( ex Saints Reading, Pompey and Oxford Utd ). You wait until you see Mark Osman in full flight he is genuine quality. He will cause the Saints defenders some problems. You need to remember Saints are now a League one side. This is the problem with many Saints fans in my opinion - thinking about where we used to be and not where we actually are today. All IMHO of course. Charlie Wayman Posted 7 June, 2009 Share Posted 7 June, 2009 Is it me or are we all going to hell in a wheelbarrow? At least we got Stoke and West Ham last year, seems nobody wants to know us now. suewhistle Posted 7 June, 2009 Share Posted 7 June, 2009 I suspect the bigger teams plan ahead a bit more, and didn't want to risk playing a non-existent club!
