Glad he's back. Careers can easily go wrong with a poor move and loss of confidence. Needs a proper chance with us at some point. People will probably demand a big signing in the championship too but we'd be made not to play Gallagher. Get decent players around him.

Personally I'd get far more excitement seeing us playing Hesketh, Sims and Gallagher in attack than our current mess.

Turning it around at Brum will do wonders for his confidence too.

Sort of agree with this but, in reality, if the introduction of these 3 Youth team players didn't improve things the young lads would be criticised in the same way as the current mob

I reckon he’ll come into the first team next season and we’ll offload Austin.

If we offload Austin and retain Shane Long that will be absolute madness. If we go down and Austin is willing to stay we should do all in our power to keep him. Would be our best hope of bouncing straight back.

Not when he’s always injured.

If he were to stay fit then by all means keep him. But he’s no use to us if he’s on the treatment table and on big wages.

If we go down, would be delighted to keep either of them. Keep whoever we can. We'd be losing 90% of the squad, we'd have enough money to keep anyone we could convince.

Long, Austin, Gallagher as options up front would be brilliant for that league.

Long wouldn’t, the man doesn’t know how to score. Would be more than happy if we shipped him out regardless of the league we are in. Stealing a living as a striker.

What we lack are in form strikers on the pitch now. We are in a desperate situation and need in form strikers and options and need them now. Getting him back would increase the options and that is on top of at least one new striker signing.

Except we can’t get him back.

Hopefully he can go on and get double figures again this season, and we get him into the squad next year.

A 6' 4" striker with pace (according to that article) is a rare commodity, seems more like it's the mental side of his game that needs more work (positioning, putting himself about etc.)

He's out there getting much needed experience and he'll be all the better for it. Calls for him to come back and either spearhead our attack now or sit on our bench are madness and will do nothing for him or us.
agree, I recall how the fans last season were begging that JRod had to be kept. The club loved that so they didn't have to buy another forward, which in turn came back and bit us.

We need someone who can do the job now

He's at very least a good championship striker. Hasn't even played in a decent team at that level either.

Excellent. If there is ever a good time to get relegated.. well at least have some decent options in the youth team to fall back on if they stay with us. Gallagher, Sims etc.

My flatmate is a Birmingham fan and he said apparently they made an approach to sign him permanently earlier in the window and were told where to go as he's still in our long-term plans. Planning for the Championship or do they still think he's capable of being a PL striker?

He will be capable. Look at the strikers in this league, not just here. Most don't score many, lot of hard workers, hold up players, target men. Gallagher could definitely do a job already, but hopefully he'll be able to reach greater heights than that.

I'm sure he'll match his goal tally for last season, both for really poor sides. Think if he was in a top 6 side in that league he'd be heading towards 20 goals.

Why are the only sides that go in for him, poor?

Made the Skybet Championship team of the month...

Striker: Sam Gallagher (Birmingham) - 7.9

If Steve Cotterill's side are to survive this season then they will need Southampton loanee Gallagher to continue his impressive form of recent weeks. The Blues boss has started to get the best from the youngster since his appointment, with the 22-year-old doubling his league tally with three goals in January.

For Gallagher to be a success for us in the Prem, he'd need a run of games to get used to the league, style of play and the players around him. He won't get that if he doesn't perform straight away (in fact, based on MoPe's tendencies, he won't get it even if he does perform well). Therefore, he won't get used to the league and become a success. It'll be a pointless circle, IMO.

If he moves elsewhere, even to another Prem club, it'll be because they want him and are willing to play him, so he'll get the chance he needs to adapt and perform.
