Pulis out on loan

Player heading out on loan - announcement on OS at 5pm according to the official Saints Twitter feed

Perhaps someone can update the thread title. Not sure Pulis counts as a player :)

I don't understand why we have made an agreement that he cannot play for Lincoln in the FA Cup if we draw them in the 1st Round, we should have made it a condition that he does play, thus boosting our chances of winning LOL. Are we really that worried about his effectiveness that we would stop him playing against us.

Was it Wotte that signed Pulis? Never seen him play for us, is he terrible?

The problem with him is nobody has seen him play. In 6 years as a professional footballer he's played precisely 2 league team games for his parent clubs and 18 for various clubs on loan (including a whole 9 games for Grimsby!).

20 games in 6 years and he only started 10 of those. Nothing more need be said.

I've seen him play! Really, I have. He played RB for the reserves vs Salisbury (7-1). Didn't impress at all. All the play went down the left side - Pernecky throwout to Molyneaux who passed down the line to Holmes. Cross over to Jamie White and ... another goal.

Maybe one day we'll know the story behind the deal but at present its more of an Ali Dia deal.

Chris Sutton makes a terrible start to his managerial career with that as his first signing :D

Adam Watts? Played pretty well on Saturday.

I live near Lincoln, I may go check out Pulis if he gets a run out; see if he is as bad as his record suggests.

I actually feel sorry for the lad. Can`t have been easy for him. Maybe the loan will lead to other things and I for one wish him well.

Many on here seem to dislike this lad although he's never done us any real harm (or good) as far as I'm aware . I suspect we don't mind seeing gifted players earn a good living out of the game but seeing a not especially talented individual such as this young man make a living out of it irks somewhat - or perhaps are we secretly thinking that we could do that ? ;)

Jealousy is a terrible thing you know .

I've seen him play twice away to Salisbury and Cheltenham. Was very poor against Salisbury but is a holding Midfielder, Wotton also played so they both tried to do the same job.

Against Cheltenham he was ok, by ok he didn't play badly but never did much either. Won't get near the first team and for the sake of his career he needs to start playing games soon. The fact he has premission to play in the FA cup says it all.

Give the lad a break. He has had a hard time with injuries. He is a young professional football player trying to find his level. He is not a fraud like Ali Dai and should not be treated as one.

Good luck to him. I hope he has a successful loan period which leads to a revival of his career either at Saints or elsewhere.

Some supporters are too quick to criticise.

Yeah, must be terrible earning a grand or so a week for 6 years for doing utterly nothing of substance... :o

Yeah, and some have seen him "play".

Thanks Weston, for putting that so eloquently. I too hope that young Pulis has a successful loan spell and it leads on to a favourable and prosperous career.

26 years of age...big wages....Hope Lincoln are paying and saving us some dosh.....Let him provee himself there and see when he gets a few games on the trot....Hope he does not get injured too soon as at several of his other loans. Better young players around..No sympathy other than to say this decision should have been made about a month after he was foisted on us.

I live round the corner from the stadium so I might pop along, just to be ITK on something for the first time ever - seeing him actually play :D Strangely Lincoln's next home game is against Torquay.... spooky.

He is 25 and in 6 seasons has made 20 appearances for various clubs (including ones where his dad was manager), mostly as a sub. He may not be a fraud, but he clearly is not going to make it as a pro footballer at any decent level, maybe as a journeyman pro in Division 4 or the Conference. No disrespect to the "lad" (I guess at my age I can call him a lad) but he is just a reminder of the bad things that happened to our club last season, and the sooner the mistakes of Lowe, Wilde and the Ornage Order are sorted out the better.

Good luck Ant, hope you find your level soon or find some other career to pay the bills.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Pulis

The 2007–08 season started brightly for Pulis. He gained his first assist for the club, as his corner set up a Jon Parkin header in a 3–2 defeat to Southampton, however injury problems kept him sidelined for several months following. Pulis was loaned out again, on this occasion to Bristol Rovers, however he made only one appearance for the club before his loan spell was curtailed due to injury. In his only appearance for the club, a 14 minute cameo in a 2–0 defeat to Doncaster Rovers, Pulis conceded a penalty kick and was booked.

Quite some résumé!

You mean a Lowe error when we had no money to spend so relied on freebies?

I presume then, seeing as we had no money to spend, neither he nor his agent received a signing fee and we do not actually pay him any wages?

If the above is not the case then yes it was an error, as he has done absolutely diddly squat in the form of playing for us!

It's been a long day, that should of been 'era' instead of error.

But yes, signing a player that had moved 3 or 4 times by the age of 24 and played about 10 competitive games in his career before failing to get even close to the first team in a year does go down as an error in my book whether it was a freebie or not.
