Goal of the Season so far

Lets have a few nominations, then I'll add a poll for the 10 best candidates. I have to say we've had an embarassment of riches in barely 5 months of football. if anyone has any youtube clips, I'll add them to the OP. Off the top of me 'ead:

 

Lallana vs. Hartlepool - Curling effort into the top right corner from the edge of the area.

 

Connolly vs. Norwich - Cut inside and from the edge of the area curled an effort accross the face of goal, into the top corner.

 

Harding vs. Tranmere - A similar effort, but left footed and from what looked like a tighter angle.

 

Lambert vs. Tranmere - Brilliant free kick from what must have been approaching 35 yards out. Top corner, unstoppable. My personal favourite.

 

Connolly vs. Oldham - I've watched that about 20 times and I'm still convinced he is going to slot it into the bottom right (so was the 'keeper), then bang, top left.

 

Connolly vs. Bristol Rovers - An incisive counter attack, finished off brilliantly.

 

Antonio vs. Bristol Rovers - Another great counter. Dribbled the ball past the half way line, took the p*ss out of two defenders and a cool finish for a 19 year old.

All good choices, i'd also add Lallana's v Birmingham in the cup - that was a quality finish from the edge of the area.

 

My favorite was probably hardings v tranmere, as it was a great team move.

Set-piece has to be Lambert vs Tranmere.

As spectacular as some of those mentioned are (and I'd probably go with Connolly's against Norwich) I feel a shout out to Lallana's against Norwich is worthwhile, for the fact that it was a really slick move with excellent movement and interplay that cut their defence to ribbons, with a crisp, unstoppable finish.

Lambert's Free Kick v Tranmere:

Dead ball shots are easier than open play shots, but Lambert's 35 yarder was just superb. Le Tiss like, and I can't praise it higher than that.

For me it was our first against MK Dons.

 

Ball over the top for Dean to make the run to the left edge of the pen area towards the corner flag. Various passes involving him and Adam (? poss Dan ? ) before the ball is played to the edge of the D for Morgan to hit a 30 yard pass to Antonio on the right wing who passes it back to Lloyd in one touch, who chips the ball to the far post for Dean to side foot the goal.

 

A true "team goal", where our MOVEMENT OFF the ball was SUPERB taking the defenders first to the left then to the right.

(And all we got from the TV pictures was Lloyd's cross into the box - imo if arse had scored it would have been shown every 30 mins on SSN.)

I think Lambert's second against Leyton orient deserves a shout. So much power and with his weaker foot as well.

Waigo's first against Norwich during the week was a great goal. The pass from James was absolutely brilliant - watch the highlights if you don't believe me!

 

Favourite is probably Connolly v Norwich though.

Part of me wishes I had celebrated the goal as it was a great strike, but I was making a protest at the hypocracy of those sat around me who moaned and berated the players almost non-stop but had the timerity to jump around like loons when the ball pinged in the top corner.

Harding's goal was pure class at the end of a flowing move but DC's goal against Norwich, RL's freekick and AL goal at Hartlepool were pieces of individual skill of the highest level.

I was sat next to the dug out and Connolly ran past us. Then as he hit it we were right in line with the shot and it seemed to take an age to go in but was by far the best goal ive seen this season. Sweet.
