Trust me, this is looking very likely at the moment, I work within the club which is how I know! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 29 July, 2010 Share Posted 29 July, 2010 I don't.like the way people criticise a player who is nothing but a consumate professional. But then he is a bit rubbish. He is a top bloke though.

He is a top bloke though. Its not Paul Wotton's possible depature I find exciting. Its the fact they might have to come to us to borrow a player whos no more than a squad player in L1. Oh how times have changed. From the highs of being linked with Riquelme to the depths of asking us for a back up player. Beautifal.
Ewell Posted 29 July, 2010 Share Posted 29 July, 2010 Isnt this all a bit unfair to Paul Wotton ? He's always given us 110% whatever you may think about his ability. It is not often I agree with you but on this matter I wholeheartedly do. Judging by the comments made by Pardew to Wotton at Sutton United last week both before he went on the pitch and once he was on the pitch then I think he figures in Pardew’s plan’s and I honestly cannot see him going. Pardew also praised Wotton after the match in his post match comments which adds a little weight to my view.

JibMcdo Posted 29 July, 2010 Share Posted 29 July, 2010 Paul Wotton is a great influence on the squad and is someone I'm sure Pardew doesn't mind around the place. He's worth a place on the bench, I just hope he doesn't have to come on.

vince Posted 29 July, 2010 Share Posted 29 July, 2010 Isnt this all a bit unfair to Paul Wotton ? He's always given us 110% whatever you may think about his ability. This. The worst kind of pro is the one with ability but obviously playing without a care for his employer or the fans. PW had his front teeth kicked out playing for us. He's never going to get his face on SaintsWeb banner, but he has at least tried.

He's always given us 110% whatever you may think about his ability. totally agree, he has not been bringing club's name into disrepute fighting and stealing, he has never got into sulk when dropped, he is a trier and tbf often done a decent job for us, particularly when we are hanging onto a lead and starting to feel pressure. Hopefully we can now do better.
Chez Posted 29 July, 2010 Share Posted 29 July, 2010 I started slating him pretty much from day one of his career at SFC as he is the worst ball player I have ever seen in a Saints shirt, apart from Darren Powell obviously, but at the same time he is probably the most comitted player I've seen at SMS. The man would die for you on the pitch and no matter how **** he is in posession I have to respect that. His display at Bristiol City a couple of seasons ago ranks right up there for me in terms of effort and desire. He showed rediculous amounts of do or die spirit imdist a sea of meh. The guy was like a man posessed and quite literally through himself head first into tackles. Think John Terry blocking that ball in the world cup, but instead of putting head in front of ball he'd put head in front of boot. Unbelievable. My eyes were well and truely opened by that display and I tend to cut him just a little more slack, although he still is not up to scratch at this level IMO. Complete load of nonsense rumour though. Turkish Posted 29 July, 2010 Share Posted 29 July, 2010 Isnt this all a bit unfair to Paul Wotton ? He's always given us 110% whatever you may think about his ability. It is unfair and he is not that bad, he does a job he is asked and able to do, no he doesn't have the skills of Lallana or Puncheon but i think the critics he has are unfair, he is a model proffesional and a commited hard working player who is always consistant 6 out 10, which every team needs. Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 29 July, 2010 Share Posted 29 July, 2010 It is a real shame we got him after he knackered his knee. The way he used to be able to hit the ball before that was unreal. Used to go watch him at Plymouth and his ball striking from long distance was Haisslebank-esque. Think his attitude and experience is invaluable to us. northam soul Posted 29 July, 2010 Share Posted 29 July, 2010 I may of missed something but i thought they were still in admin and 130 million in debt so how did they afford a trip to the states recently, they also sold season tickets yet we were not allowed too. I may of missed some recent news on them as i really dont give a **** what happens to them but just thought it a bit strange. As for Paul Wotton he may not be the most gifted of players for us but you cannot fault his commitment or attitude.

fred kemp Posted 29 July, 2010 Share Posted 29 July, 2010 every club's fans have to hate someone, it's wottons turn at the moment, jermaine wright before, kelvin davis yes super kelv got boed for making a mistake against qpr, since andy gray and sky sports, you can hear all the experts telling the players what to do, banks of bloody four, hit 'im, close him down, he should have took a touch etc etc. i know some of the people and they have never kicked a ball in anger, paul wotton a good pro and nowhere near as bad as he's made out to be by the sheep that go to the games, some players can do nothing all game but never get criticised at all. rant over from me for a year

Professor Posted 29 July, 2010 Share Posted 29 July, 2010 I don't hate the guy by any means and he is always a trier, but he is limited in his ability and really doesn't have much of a future with us They all are. The perfect player doesn't exist, even at World Cup level. Wotton is subect to constant assessment by the coaching staff so surely their decision to play him is based on better knowledge and better evidence than fans who are not qualified coaches and see players for no more than 90 minutes every couple of weeks.
