New Manager Gossip & Rumours

It might have been a problem a couple of years ago for players who had that 'I'm prem quality' attitude - Rasiak, Saga, Skacel etc. Dont think any of our current squad would have any right to look down on Adkins.

with barmy MON talk on here some of the fans certainly aren't going to see him as a name, but maybe they should do. He certainly looks good compared to Wilkins.

Anyone who can get Scunny promoted twice with resources the square root of **** all would be a very good appointment imo.

BTW just listened to the 5live clip from Sat and it didn't mention "wow factor" just the appointment would "show SFC fans that Cortese knows what he is doing".

Think the confusion actually came from Solent's crew who said something like - "The 5Live team are talking about the new manager being installed next Wednesday and having a Wow factor. That was as we were in the traffic jam by West Quay

This thread has descended into pages & pages of absolute b*llocks. Move on. This forum is fast losing whatever credibility is has left due to trolls & just too much futile, meaningless sh*t & wind ups. Some people do like proper, grown up, football talk! Big words & everything! It used to be fun catching the odd rumour on transfers, managers, etc.

Too many pip-squeak kids online no doubt! Tskkkk!!! School term can't come quick enough.

Lucerne manager Rolf Fringer is being linked with the job. He's an Austrian - and also managed the Swiss national side not so long ago.

I guess if he gets the job & it all goes tits up - we'll be able to point the finger at Fringer!

* see what I did there?

Were they unbeatable under him ???

Unfortunately, this is the sort of Krap we are likely to get, ie, someone who knows Jack Sch*tt about the English League game

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/sep/06/southampton-nicola-cortese-alan-pardew?

"Southampton sources claim the club have received more than 50 applications to replace him, including one from a serving Premier League manager, and plan to make an appointment this week but, before doing so, they will presumably provide their preferred candidate – currently believed to be the S****horpe United manager Nigel Adkins – with an explanation as to why Pardew was dismissed, something they have yet to offer fans".

Who might that be?

I will go with Pullis or Holloway.

I like the presumption that the club will offer the new guy a reason as to why pards got the boot. They say they presume it will happen but also talk like it will be part of the process of taking someone on.

Unlike a paper to be vague in it's reporting... ;)

Can't believe people would be disappointed with Leonardo ffs. Young, intelligent, many many contacts and he'd only come if he really wanted to. Won the world cup, played with world class players, under world class managers and knows the game inside out. But not enough for english div 3??

I don't believe for a second he'd come here, just amazed people would be upset about it!

Would that be the same Leonardo who was at PSG for a while? Fabulous player anyway, boosted the home gate by about 10000 every match, ah the glory days of PSG before they ran out of Canal +'s money.

The banning of the press and the fact you cannot buy season tickets now all falls into place. The new man has been earmarked for a while and will be so huge that thousands will be paying extra on the gate each game and the press will be clambering to buy photos.

A pure marketing genius by cortese to increase the revenue, now who do we think will get it oh yes Adkins well that buggers up my theory then.

Yep remember those days well - had another Brazilian Rai in the middle, Weah at top. Regularly fought it out with Nantes for the title. But Leonardo was the star man...

Hill has been an absolute revelation at Rochdale and no less of a candidate than Howe for example. He kept them up when things were looking bad when he took over and then was unlucky not get them promotion the following season. Amazing turnaround and without spending. They should have won the league at a canter last season but the wheels came off a little at the end in a similar vein to Leeds. Chris O'Grady, who we saw yesterday was an inspired signing. Him and Dagnell were sensational all season. Considering they lost Dagnall and Kennedy in the summer they have made brilliant start. As with Adkins at Scunny he's at a small club where the expactations are much lower, so if he came to us it would be a whole different kettle of fish. We expect promotion, well certainly before Saturday we did, so the pressure would be on from the start. I'd also be a little woried about the egos of our players. Having the respect of the players is paramount. Adkins has the advantage in comign down a division, but Hill might struggle a little. At Dale he came through the ranks (Youth team coach etc) so he had the players on side, will ours follow him as quickly?

Cheers..

Blatantly Kevin McDonald at Villa. Didn't say permanent manager did it. He knows he's out of a job soon, maybe wants a chance as manager after caretaker role, so applied for this one. Understandable. No others would have applied to drop down 2 divisions. Even those under pressure like Grant know applying would seal their fate.

Blatantly Ian Holloway at Blackpool. Not only no chance of staying up but the club itself seems to be falling apart from within - Chairman resigning etc.

Could make the assumption fit many facts. The bloke at Wigan (Martinez??) who looks in for a struggle - swap the strain for a long term vision and ride.

It would be attractive
