Potential New Managers...

Born In The 80s

Possibly a wee bit premature, but judging by how Pardew was sacked by Cortese, maybe the knives are sharpening for Nige already?

Now i have no inside knowledge whatsoever, nor am i basing this on anything other than guess work, but Roberto Di Matteo has just been sacked by West Brom. He worked with a playing squad there who i believe a very similar to ours, with plenty of skill and abilty in most areas. With Cortese's Italian connections, i wouldn't be in the slightest bit surprised if he is tempted by an approach for Di Matteo. Perhaps in the same way West Brom couldn't help themselves when Hodgson became available, Cortese looks at Di Matteo as a guy who could really be the one to take us up the football league.

For me, i think it's a perfect fit.

I've got no concerns about him. He's a good manager, he's going through his first real bad patch with us. Our form has been top 2 for most of his time with us until the last few weeks.

It's made to look worse because of our bad start under Wilkins and Co

Tactics all wrong tonight, despite us being very unlucky not to take the points. NA always bangs on about playing the right kind of football. Last time I checked, the long ball over the top at the first opportunity was not 'the right way to play football'. Also I don't understand how we can start the game playing 3 central midfielders and still lose out in the middle of the park. Also N'guessen is pony.

Muppet.

For a start, Pardew wasn't sacked for his results. Clearly there was something else going on behind the scenes (and Christ knows we've had enough suggestions on here) which meant he had to go. Secondly, despite tonights result Adkins form has been pretty good since he's been here. Thirdly, this is Saints. They've served up naught but disappointment for nigh on a decade. We wont get promoted, regardless of whether it's Adkins, Pardew, O'Neil, Fergie or Mourinho is charge.

if thats the case maybe it would have been kinder to let the club die 18 months ago.................

I love the way sweeping statements are made by people who don't go to games.

Sack him now.

We can still salvage our season.

Martin O'Neill might be able to get us up.

(thought i'd get this in before this nonsense gets locked)

I just vomitted up a piece of tonights hotdog.

For the love of god, how many times........ Pardew was not sacked because of results, he was sacked due to 'other' events.

Duncan, that's a sweeping generalization akin to "All trade unionists are militant, left wing nutbars".

As I've said before, I've heard some incomprehensibly stupid things said at games by people with season tickets. Even after time for sober second thought, regular attendees will come on here and post utter nonsense or disagree diametrically with other posters about how someone played. Being there isn't the font of all wisdom and perspective.

I think it would have done you more justice if you'd taken issue with something in S-Clarke's post rather than throw that cheap and shallow argument out.

He got sacked five games into the season............

HTBH I don't think Nigels going anywhere (yet) but if we don't get promoted this season I think all bets are off RE Nigels Job status

I wouldn't be surprised to see Nigel gone even if we are promoted.

So you just made a sweeping statement yourself, how do you know how many games i've been to?

I have been to most games under adkins, not all away, but that's such a stupid post to make and I expect better from someone like you. FYI I don't have a season ticket because I couldn't afford the upfront payment, but I have been to every game anyway. That must make me a super duper fan!!!!!

And what was wrong with my post anyway? It's totally true. For some reason certain people don't like to admit it. I like to look at results rather than performances by the way, and in results terms this is our first bad patch under him.

We have bizarre fans.

Why is this thread ridiculous ?

Why should this thread be closed ?

We have a CEO who has a very challegning 5 year plan and is therefore very results-oriented. If you all think that a frisson of doubt isnt already going through NCs head, you are very naiive.

It IS too early to be having this discussion. But if we fall out of the top 6 AND waste our games-in-hand, I fully expect NC to start drawing up short-lists.

If we got in a new manager and they lost their first game we'd get a thread like this.

If some people on this forum were our chairman we'd get through 20+ managers in a season

I believe we have averaged a new manager every 10 months since around 2000 to now. Nigels been here a while so his time must almost be up.

The thing is in a higher league at any other time if we were 5th we'd all be really happy. Down in league one it seems like faliure all things taken into account people are frustrated. Sacking Nigel won't make any difference though we'd all just be frustrated with the next guy instead.

quite,

and soon as we bring in eg. Di Matteo and he loses a couple of games then we'll be discussing another potential manager and so on and so on.

Even if we had won 45 out of our 46 games this season and lost 1 there would still be people calling for NA's head

There were people questioning his ability when we won 4-1 and had a bad 30min patch in the middle.

No manager has a chance with our fan base.

We lost a match

We had 20 shots and their keeper played the game of his 37 year life

We got undone by a route one ball

Sh*t happens....I'd worry if we weren't making chances,,,I worry that probably the 2 of the best strikers in this league didn't put one or two away but this is football Saints style.

Mothball the thread until May!
