Attendance tonight?

Slightly understandable with the amount of football we've got on at the moment, but with this being a massive game in our promotion push I'd have hoped for a few more than that. Thought the crowd really played its part on Saturday and showed what a good turn-out and good, positive, vocal support can do at times.

The ticket tax is a factor in this. Most people used to phone up and get their tickets, but now you've got to pay £3 extra to get a tickets over the phone/online or pay extra on the night it puts people off. We're living in a period of austerity after the Labour party maxed out on nations credit card so I can't blame anyone for being more careful with their money. Besides we have a lot of games coming up in a short period.

NOT many at home but anything over 20k tonight is good

Source?

How many people are we talking about? Dozens? Hundreds? Thousands?

Cheers (genuinely interested in the stats on this one)

Am I the only one who thinks 20k is pretty rubbish? We are in the crunch of the season, away games are selling out left right and centre, this is a crucial game in hand and we've won the last 5 at home...

Sod the poxy Champions League.

At great expense to himself, Dune commissioned an independent academic study to seek the views of thousands of Saints fans. All he is now doing is giving us the results.

He's got a point though. It doesn't exactly encourage people to attend, particularly at short-notice.

I think another problem we have is you can watch the whole game live in your own sitting room 2 days later.

Is this killing the support?

Do the players turn out to play the game again then, doing exactly the same as they did tonight?

Otherwise, it won't be a live match will it? ;)

I personally think it's a great compliment to our club that we find just under 20k in league one on a tuesday night to be a sh*t turn out.

Completely agree, that is pretty damn sensational.

What I find so pleasing is the attendance we consistently bring in even though we are a relatively small city (population around 220,000).

Our 6 season ticket seats will be empty tonight as we simply can't do midweek games in term time.

Don't suppose you;d like to lend one to me would you :)

A train journey from London (as no one seems to be driving) £34 + ticket is a VERY expensive night out..

Do you mean on Saints Player ?

Surely the only people who are paying for that are people who are really into Saints but can't go ? They've got to be a significant minority compared to people who either don't pay for the Player or are going to the match.

I've got a mate at work, who is a Spuds fan. He hasn't been to a live footy game in years, so I suggested he come along with me to SMS. (You never know i might convert him).

He agreed, so I suggested tonights game a few weeks back. He was up for it and I bought him a ticket.

It wasn't until yesterday he realised that it clashed with Spuds v Madrid.

I'm impressed that he is still going to come to SMS tonight and record the Spuds game. There is hope for him yet!

To be honest with you I (as a season ticket holder) would be pleased to see the club drop the prices for the remaining games significantly, or maybe even do a two for one deal, just so we can fill the stadium for these important matches.

Beats trying to get from South Wales and back by train, which simply is not possible if you want to leave after 9pm without going via Reading and paying through the nose.

Glad I moved, I'm not fit enough to do any more of those sprints back to the parking spaces near Hoglands Park on the final whistle so I didn't get stuck on the Avenue for half an hour !

Agree with this. When buying a season ticket the discount isn't really much in my mind anyway, it's more about being guaranteed the same seat.

Yep, I do too. As for people watching on Saints Player: well, I finally cracked and got a subscription as reading the match day threads on here was doing my head in and I can now check afterwards to see how much rubbish we were all talking. I've looked into coming back for the Walsall match (being optimistic...) but couldn't afford it so I could be settling down a few days after with a bottle of prosecco to watch (celebrations, I hope!).

That would be great, wouldnt be bothered about this as a season ticket holder. Would be worth it to see the stadium full until the end of the season. Dont know why they dont as they must know they aren't going to sell out anyway

By the time the next home game vs Bristol comes around it will be a Saturday and Saints could well already be in 2nd place. I think that will draw a crowd even without ticket deals. After that there are only two more home games, both of which are afternoon kickoffs and in particular the final game against Walsall will draw a big crowd.

If the trains weren't so bloody expensive it wouldnt be problem. 35 sheets return for just over an hour each way is a joke..

I'm coming down to London on the train Saturday, with the nipper in tow, for the Orient game. £27 return the pair, which is way cheaper than petrol/parking at the moment.

If I wanted to do Soton on the train it would be north of £75.

Crazy.

perhaps he was just waiting for you to say, "don't worry about coming to the Saints I'm sure you'd much prefer the CL game"?

Not that you can take what some get told by our ticket office these days but I would have expected it to be at least as good as Saturday, thought we would be hitting the mid-20s by now. Just goes to show you need to get fans committed with Season Tickets. You don't think of cold winter nights (I know this isn't one) and potential TV games when you part with your money back in the spring.

I bet the NC thought fans would be filling the place at full price by now, he probably also thought we’d be sitting pretty on the top.

Hopefully the club will accept they made a mistake last year with the ST fiasco and does everything to get as many people buying for next season - particularly if we fook up this promotion push - we’re going to need ‘em!

Funny, it's exactly this which puts me off buying a season ticket.

Wow that's an amazing co-incidence....

I took a Spuds fan to the game up there.

Hope that's the only thing that's the same...

& not the scoreline

For those complaining about the train fares yes it is expensive, BUT, get a railcard, there are loads of London saints who travel down for every home game, a network railcard gets you a 1/3rd off in south east region, for VFTT a family railcard gets you great discounts travelling all over the country when with kids.

From this day to the ending of the world,

But we in it shall be remembered-

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;

For he to-day that sheds his blood with me

Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,

This day shall gentle his condition;

And gentlemen in England now-a-bed

Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,

Or to put it another way get your arses down here ;)

Mmm, sounds like you need to find some London Saints to share the 4-person groupsave tickets with.

I did, I said I could probably offload the ticket if he wanted me to, but said he would prefer to see a live game!
