Keeping Track of the Contracts

Over land and sea

Recommended Posts

The PL have published the full retained lists - from which you can work out the full list of those released.  The four scholars released are Tommy Lee Higgs, Harvey Woods, Ryan Chavez-Munoz and Rylee Wright.
No Caballero on the list - so he will be treated as a new signing if terms are agreed.  No idea of the length of deals offered to Hewlett, Bragg, Lett or Davis.  I've assumed for now that the pros whose contracts were due to expire this summer have a further year, apart from Sam Bailey who is shown as on a monthly contract on the PL list.
I have updated the opening post.

Dom Ballard signs new contract

Cracking news. The younger players will see game time this season and I hope they take their chance. Ballard in particular has a great goalscoring record in the youth teams, why not give him a chance.

I also hope Diamond Edwards comes back from his injury as good as he was before. I've seen clips of him play and he's electric.

First Team page has been amended on official Saints official Site.

Elyounoussi, Walcott and AMN have been removed.

Smallbone and Tella added

Caballero is still on there.

Jack Stephens added as well.

Note that Dynel Simeu is not listed here or on the B team page. Just an oversight? Would have expected him to be in contention for the 1st team after 2 seasons away on successful loans.

Kegs Chauke has just joined Burton on a permanent deal. I always thought he was highly regarded from within. Wish him well.

He was. I guess barely getting a game for Exeter last season probably did for him.

There are also a few B team players who were out on loan that have not been added back in:  Jack Bycroft, Kazeem Olaigbe, Luke Pearce and Dynel Simeu.  And there are even more players who have been released that are still listed.  As usual, these lists are a bit of a waste of space and probably will be until well into the new season.

Overnight update.  Most of the loaned out B team players added and all of the released players removed.  Just Lis and Pearce missing now

....and he's not alone,  but with so many good Academy graduates still on the books, and 16 and 17 year olds now getting game time,

it's hard for any 20+ year old with no first team experience to get a foot in.  For many it will take a season or two in L1 / L2 to make real

progress and develop a career in League football.  We will see half a dozen more go to lower league clubs in the summer and hopefully improve.

The list of those former Academy lads who we let go too early, and went onto greater things.... is too embarrassing to publish.

Recently, I  counted over 30   L1 / L2  players who had come through our Academy in the last 10-12 years  - without having travelled

on the first team coach.   JWP is the last of his generation still at the club, whilst several others of that era have also moved on and

played with other Prem. clubs.  (e.g. Chambers, Shaw, Targett, Reed, Stephens).

* We would surely have added Sam McQueen to that group had he not been so badly injured.

What ever happened to that Spanish-sounding attacker who was about 15 but looked 35 and was a goal machine in the youths and England u15/16?

Alejandro Gomes Rodriguez - think he’s 15, so would be next year?

Why doesn't Lis appear in the men's first team profile listing?

I am confused why we signed a 25 year old and then loaned him out to Troyes for a season. I am now confused why he is not recognised as a Saints player full stop.

Probably because Troyes are owned my Man City and we have something weird going on with them. Like Romeu going to Girona too.

Realised that July 13th marked the 10 year anniversary of this thread.

Just thought I’d take the opportunity to once again thank Over Land And Sea for his exceptional efforts in keeping this up to date and all of us so well informed.

It’s massively appreciated by me and, I suspect, many other forum members.

Good to get this one done

Great news. And really good work on getting so much of the 2024 contract expiries sorted so soon. Obviously some decisions on youngsters still to be made but by my reckoning we just have Smallbone and Doyle to tie down to longer deals (allowing for who we don’t want or who won’t extend).
Of the youngsters Simeu, Pearce and Finnigan had loans last season so be interesting to see if they get extensions or instead get helped onto lower league careers.

Nice to be in control of a lot of this - a couple of years ago it was a mess.
