Rickie Lambert - England Qualifiers

So looks like Lambert is the scapegoat on Twitter tonight. Whilst he's not been great neither has anyone else.

He had an excellent first half. If there needs to be a scapegoat it should be Theo.

Rickie's trying to do too much, daft flicks with every ball rather then dictating the pace and bringing his team-mates into play. He's forgotten what he's good at.

Panicing, abject, nothing but industry. Our real creative midfielder left on the pitch has been told to marshall the defence and the wingers have been poor indeed, Walcott has been terrible simply terrible.

Lambert has struggled tonight, isolated yes but nothing has stuck to him. Its not just him though, the team as a whole has been aweful and has shown little inventiveness

Same as me, missed first half, the only time Ive seen him involved he has been terrible. But then so has Lampard, Walcott, young, milner and Cahill

Ukraine have looked twice as dangerous as us

He was very composed in the first half, some excellent attacking moves went through him, the ball just stuck to him. Yes, his second half has been poor but so has everyone else in the side for the last 45 minutes.

Probably be the last time for lambert for england

Yep, probably.

Sturridge, Wellbeck, Rooney all back for the next set of fixtures. Add to that Defoe will be involved as well.

Nice 3 caps for him though and a couple of goals, but he's probably had his chance now.

Poor overall by England - Lambert had a solid first half but second half ended up losing his touch, partly because he saw the ball so little and couldn't get into the game, but he was far from the worst on the pitch, and the primary criticism should be aimed at the poor possession we had in the first two thirds of the pitch before it got near to Rickie. The promise of the first half gave way to a pretty turgid and predictable display second half. Standard stuff for England really - little movement or inspiration and players who should be able to pass 8 yards to each other seemingly forget how to do so.
