Veho announced as new main club sponsor of Southampton Football Club

Blah blah blah. The main reason I care about the sponsor is how it makes the shirt look.

It's not a brand with a negative connotation like Wonga or dare I mention http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1553923-25-worst-club-sponsors-in-world-football/page/22 . And the logo itself is fairly subtle, like a lower case Sony. Definitely won't ruin a shirt.

You lot are going to give yourselves (or each other) ulcers.

Looking at the sponsorship league table(above) you would very much doubt we've moved up at all despite our higher profile this season & and all the chat about focusing on commercial streams of income. Really hope I'm wrong & they have paid a large sum.

Why not?

We are 8th.

Huge catchment area.

New Stadium.

England internationals.

A new board exciting board.

This is our time.

It matters as surely the club should be looking for more exposure and a more prestigious company?

If they cant attract more then its worrying to say the least.

How much is it worth?

The Green Bay Packers don't even have a shirt sponsor - I'd say we're ahead of the game.

I'm not I know our standing, hence when the players and others go this year it will be a sad day but one I know will always happen, I only wished the board would be more honest about it, this speaks volumes pardon the pun.

Great products. Growing fast based on reputation (wouldn't mind seeing some global revenue figures though). Not another payday loan company or online bookmaker. Simple text-baed logo that won't massively dominate the shirt. Saints branded consumer products on the way. Could be worse!

Plenty of OTT reactions here. Being 'underwhelmed' by a sponsor is quite funny really.

Indeed - although it has nicely highlighted those who default to a negative reaction when they have little information to go on.

From the point of exploitation of the poor I am very happy and I am sure the board took this into consideration when we went with the locally based speaker company.

How is that relevant as a stick to beat them with? The size of the deal is what matters, not about it being a local company or not. There are some huge companies with HQ's in Hampshire.

Why didn't we tap them up then? Serco for one? There has to be a reason somewhere we are not seeing or not wanting to.

That is kind of the point of sponsorship I believe.

From the sponsors perspective.

The point of it to us should be about making the most money, which we don't appear very well at doing.

Rank Xerox

Air Florida

Dimplex

Draper Tool

Friends Provident

Sanderson

Fly Be

Have I missed any? None of them are particularly large or global brands with the exception of Xerox

FlyBe and Xerox probably the biggest we've ever had.

I don't know what all the negativity is about. Without knowing the finer details of the deal there's not a lot to say. Some people on here remind me of the two joeys who sit behind me - only happy when moaning about the club they support.

Welcome aboard Veho.

Good kit, good company, good (and short!) logo. I've bought a couple of their products...what's not to like?

Well this is Saintsweb, so plenty. Although exactly what it is that is not to like is not entirely clear just yet.

I'm not underwhelmed, disappointed or any of the other crap being posted.

Just confused.

If we're so big on increasing our commercial revenue now, then why haven't we gone for a bigger brand that can pump more money in? That is of course, unless we're getting ANOTHER sponsor for just the shirts and our main sponsor isn't included in that.

Based on what specific information?

My gut instinct. I'd be staggered if we have significantly improved from the AAP3 deal. I couldn't give a flying one who sponsors us, would just like to get the best possible deal for the club.

They've achieved aim number one: not some chavvy gambling brand.

Let's see if they've achieved number two - more money than the last lot. MLG ' s £3-5m is a bit fanciful but I'd hope for at least another 500k on top of the reported 1m that aaaaaaap were paying.

Based on this, Saints should be looking for deals from £3m to £5m if they are seriously looking to close the gap commercially as Ralph Krueger stated he was aiming to...

Have they managed that with Veho?

From where do you pluck the £3-5m figure from?

You do realise sponsor doesn't mean buying the club right?

Yes I d, its about prestige for us, not money, the big clubs get £20 Million and I am obviously not expecting that, I was expecting a large company, this is as a high League position we will ever finish and the best we can get is a speaker company?

It's also about a partnership that involves raising the profiles of both companies worldwide...an innovative electronics-based global company should fit the bill?

Lets not ve too harsh to Veho, shall we.

Theyre a local company who obviously see benefit from sponsoring SFC, and the club must see reciprocal benefits.

He directors are Saints fans too, so may well frequent this site

They do indeed frequent this site!!

And they are a tremendous bunch of lads and lasses who have built this company up from nothing (and who have ambitions to compete with the big boys).

From a Saints perspective, surely all that matters is that the deal is commercially sound and have to say I find it a bit strange how some people get all worked up about a sponsor.

It's weird.

How dare a local company try and make good! Honestly....
