Shilton would be the best keeper (best player?) I've ever seen play for Saints, but he was decidedly odd (read David Armstrong's biography), while Kelv was a hero all through the relegation, administration, and promotions. Similarly Golac was great to watch but far too ill-disiplined in away games to be best ever RB. Terry Paine would walk into any all-time Saints team for anyone of my generation, but he was a horrible niggly sod - and a Tory councillor!
