There is a huge difference in price to buy Millwall vs Saints.

Although Millwall have a London premium, Saints have a bigger stadium, parachute payments, better training ground, significantly larger fanbase and income.

Would love this! He’s changed boxing completely and the investment into Saints would be unreal. Swap the face paints and replica shirt for the full Arab dress…

Fuck that! Autocracy Inc. can stay the hell away from my club.

Well 2 relegations in 3 years - more managers than I have underpants. Absolutely shocking recruitment and a whole 12 points this season.

I am open to Sports Republic going!!

Millwall fans would also be happy to push homosexuals off the top of the Stadium as half-time entertainment

Literally none of the promotors communicated with one another before he came onto the scene. Yes, it’s taken a pound note to be waved for them to speak but he’s made some of the biggest fights/ events in boxing history over the last few years. Definitely been a game changer and hopefully he stays 😉

I know nothing of Turki Al-Sheikh's character and history so cannot comment, but disagree with others calling him out purely based on his origins.

Sports Republic have hardly covered themselves in glory since their arrival and if the rumours are true that Solak is open to a sale we could definitely do a lot worse. Al-Sheikh is already in and around the sports industry and has masterminded a huge surge in popularity for boxing in recent years, so is clearly a shrewd businessman.

The potential front of shirt sponsorship deal from Riyahd Season alone could be worth tens of millions per season to Saints.

We've got a waterfront location too.

Dubai-on-the-Solent, anyone?

Okay Charlie. You keep convincing yourself of that whilst watching the fights in empty drab stadiums in Saudi and being told by social media bots how great it is whilst the rest of the world goes about their daily business without caring about this man.

Yeah I’d probably read up on his character and then think again if I were you. Step away from the sports washing content and then make a judgement.

Not sure that there is anything in this for Saints, but I would love to see this character take over Millwall on a number of levels.

Turik Al-Sheikh took over Almeria in 2019. At the time of their takeover they finished the 2018-19 season in 10th in the Spanish second division. Six years on, and they're 6th in the Spanish second division. They had two seasons in La Liga in between, finishing 17th and a point above relegation and then 19th and relegation in 2023-24. Noticeably, in Almeria's 38 game season, they won just three games and finished 17 points below 17th. Somewhat similar to us this season.

Hardly a glowing reference, nor the success that you'd expect from a Saudi takeover. Especially in a less competitive league like Spain. Their second division, especially doesn't have the same reputation as the Championship and they've spent four of his six years in charge in the Spanish second division.

A very similar record to what Sports Republic have managed with us. But, of course Sports Republic have made a host of necessary backroom changes over the last few months and the last thing we need right now is for a new owner to come in, have his own new ideas and start again. Therefore, I think this is a case of better the devil you know.

Millwall will be far less expensive than us to buy anyway.

It's a firm no for me but even if I did entertain it, his record at Almeria was pretty similar to SR, if not worse. This was lifted from Daily Echo's story on it:

"Alalshikh was owner of Egyptian club Pyramids from 2018 to 2019, and owned Spanish club UD Almeria between August 2019 and May 2025. Almeria won promotion from the second tier in 2022 but were relegated back out of La Liga, and finished sixth this season in Liga Segunda."

Also, for those saying he'd be great just because of his wealth - let’s not forget, old mate Dragan has a similar net worth. There’s no reason to believe this guy would throw in significantly more. And to be fair to SR, spending money hasn’t really been the issue - it’s how that money’s been spent. Be careful what you wish for - this isn’t what Southampton needs.

Follow some independent and good journalists in boxing rather than bots/accounts funded by this guy. Fella.

Heard he’s looking to buy a club with a sizeable plot of land near it which he can develop. Make of that what you will

It is the number of issues and their magnitude that make them appalling; the fact that they are trying to resolve them does not suddenly make their performance acceptable.

I’m quite comfortable where we are now going forward. I can make a distinction between Dragan Solak and Sport Republic and reasonably content since he took more control and with those now making the decisions.

But if he really wants to sell up then possibly more turbulent times ahead.

The proposed Turki Al-Sheikh Bermondsey Super Mosque and Halah Cash-n-Carry is just what that area has been waiting for.  A catalyst to regenerate and unite.

I think once Solak gets Saints back to where we were when he took over, an established Premier League club, he can start to build a legacy.  Decision making over the last three years has been abysmal, but Spors and Still look a better fit than the previous permutations.  As an owner he has certainly been willing to put his money where his mouth is and I honestly hope the bloke gets a return on this.

Just now, Mr Saints said:

No need. Since they took over, we have been relegated twice whilst being consistently shit.

Sure, they've fucked up. But the key issue they've fucked on is recruitment, they've recently had a recruitment department overhaul that we've yet to see if it works as the window isn't open. A lack of investment is not the issue. We've spent huge amounts. £260m+ in the last two PL seasons. Issue was it was spent badly.

What makes Turki Alalshikh better? Hard to make a case Sport Republic don't have good intentions for the club, or money. They've been incompetent on recruitment and have tried to correct it. A new owner coming in would raise questions not only over recruitment, but also funding and intent.

Having watched his behaviour at some of these boxing events, my concern would be that he would be in the dugout shouting his own instructions at the players and countermanding whatever Will was trying to achieve, so it’s a no from me thanks.

Hard pass. Some things are more important than money.

Ultimately we have no say and little impact on the club ownership but I would rather not see us used as a vehicle for sports washing.

Have we had any comment from SFC or SR about what’s happened this season ?

To be fair, what could they say? It’s rather different to what should have been a mid-table squad finishing 20th in 2005 on 32 points when Lowe apologised. 99.9% of us were expecting to be relegated but with 12 points, so many insipid displays and clearly very unfit players?

Spors and Still are in the process of clearing out although it may not be as much as we’d like it to be as some of these losers for a playing squad are not going to be in very much demand elsewhere, barring the small pocket of high quality who actually look like professional footballers eg Ramsdale, Fernandes, KWP and Dibling.

It’d make a difficult handball shout. Sugawara would still find a way to concede a penalty though.

He seems like a gaudy idiot, just like the rest of the Saudi sport 'project'.

Stick to boxing mate, where you can throw money at it. Football is a bit different.

That's without getting into all the human rights stuff as well

Honestly just google vision 2030 and read about what the saudi's are trying to do to modernise their country and have moderate islam etc, its pretty interesting.

Its not clear with this info if this would be a private purchase for Turki or a state one, assume private as it wouldnt align with their Newcastle investment if we got promoted, but he probably would get away with it having a lesser club as his own in the premier league.

We football fans are a strange bunch. Most people on here have been banging on about getting " Sports Republic Out!" #worstownersever  for many months.  There is now rumours of a multi-millionaire business man wanting to buy us and we get "Ooo no......don't want 'im....."

Sounds like SJ is trying to get him an in at a club. First he leaks about us being for sale and then a month later says about this guy looking at us as an option to buy.

All probably true but in Southampton and Millwall they are two very different clubs with different price points. Whether he’ll follow up him interest or if we’d sell if a serious offer came in who knows.
