I'm starting to feel sorry for the Rangers fans. They keep expecting him to be moved on but it would appear that the Rangers hierarchy are even more bought into the long term philosophy than our board were.

It's funny how this mentality affects every team that Martin manages.

Hitting all the classic notes:

- Turning on the fans "I just wish the fans could enjoy the team winning"
- Saying "it's not an excuse" before doing exactly that
- Saying it's just going to take time
- Talking about the imaginary fans he's met around town
- Saying that he's not bothered about the abuse but the fans he met said it was too much

He genuinely said, in real life, that this isn't a tactical or coaching problem, it's mentality.

This bloke is surely not for real, he must be a real life meme or something.

Yep.

Spent the entire post-match conference throwing the players well and truly under the bus and blaming everyone but himself.

Again.

Thing is he even says after going 2 down they changed shape and were “brilliant” for 60 minutes. Why then doesn’t someone say to him “so you’re admitting you got the set up wrong at the start are you?” !!!

Because it's not tactics or technical. I thought he'd made that clear in the interview. He cannot be held to blame for anything that happens on the pitch because they've trained like beasts the way he wants them to and the sad thing is all the children growing up shouting abuse at people.

Poor, unlucky bloke. Seems to end up with mentally weak players wherever he goes. If only he had the power / responsibility to influence that and improve the players' mentality.

He should recruit some mentally strong players. A team full of his picks would definitely have the resilience to play his system flawlessly.

Exactly. How can he be expected to put his mentality stamp on the team when he was only able to make 14 signings?

And, it goes without saying, be completely prepared for the physical demands of the league they're in as well. No question.

For the level, he’s got to be one of the worst managers I’ve ever seen.

One predictable philosophy that never works, no adaptability, lots of errors, basically no clue - yet somehow he keeps finding a job.

Incredible.

I suspect that there may not be any more mugs willing to buy his snake oil. Rangers could be his last job in football management. He's already made enough to last a lifetime so he's probably not that bothered.

He will end up a permanent fixture on Sky. Even though most of it is absolute bullshit he speaks well and they would lap that up. Hey anyone that gives Merson and Clinton Morrison a job aint that fussy.

Was just about to post the same. It also quoted Andrews saying that if things aren't working, they need changing. Not much sign of that from RM.

There's a quote in The Times today from Keith Andrews,

"If you make it about you, you're not doing your job "

What if you're writing an autobiography?

Love this bit of the report

“After cheering the goal initially, the away fans burst into their loudest chorus yet of "Martin, get to f***."

“The message is clear! “

Imagine spending more than your opponents are worth, having a squad on ten times the wages - and still looking like a bunch of uncoachable school kids.

Don’t need to imagine it, it’s pretty much where we are right now. 😁

Saints or Rangers?

Poor old Russell, coaches his team superbly to take a surprise lead away to the mighty Falkirk only for that blessed lack of confidence and poor mentality to kick in and ruin it for him.  Such a cruel game !!

We don't play tiki-taka.

Hoofi-hacka, perhaps.

Falkirk away is always a difficult fixture. Although the equaliser was disappointing, that's still a good 1-1 win all things considered.

Any chance of Russell returning to us.  Combine Martin with Still that's a strong combination.  We could average 1,000 plus passes a match. Just imagine how good the side to side passing would be.

It's frustrating and hurtful apparently. They were more dominant the more the game went on and had so many touches in their box but they got a lucky deflection when they should've been building on a 1-0 lead.

Note: Rangers had 26 touches in the box, 11 shots and 2 on target. Falkirk had 20 in the box, 16 shots and 4 on target.

Making more friends with his post-match press conference, coming out with more of the shite he did here about how the result isn't the most important thing.

Saying it's not enough for Rangers "just to win" because that's "not sustainable". Like he's made the choice to only win 5 out of 17 fixtures so far because it wouldn't have been befitting to win any of the others if it couldn't be done prettily.

How do the people who keep giving him jobs keep swallowing this absolute bullshit?

Nearly had a heart attack with rage watching that interview. That smarmy grin on his face, blaming the players that have been 'here a long time' as if he hasnt just had 20 Million for a rebuild, and talking about 'it not being just about winning' was bad enough, but when asked "what HE could have done better', his instant reaction was very telling.

"I enjoyed Connor Barrens performance, maybe giving other players more minutes".

So when asked to self-reflect and take accountability his instant reaction was again to deflect it towards players, implying they had let him down. I also might be putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5, but I also read that as another thinly veiled swipe at Raskin. I think whats happened here is Nico has called him out and seen through him early doors, and his ego has taken a knock, and its become petty and personal as per all his comments. He's a small, petty man and his behaviour makes it extremely difficult not to really dislike him on a personal level, and I never thought I'd say that about a Rangers manager.

He is a stain on the history of our club, I wouldn't even put his portrait up in the stadium either. Lets delete this fraud from our history.

Schadenfreude is so very pleasing.

Extra bonus points that on Thursday they equalled a 130 year record of going 22 away games without keeping a clean sheet which they beat today. Martin again proving to be a record breaking manager wherever he goes.

I don't disagree and yet in the championship I feel he knew what he was doing more than young Mr Still

The host saying that "we don't want to see that". Of course we do, that's hilarious.

Yes, well one of them is one of the smartest people who ever lived. The other is a beard stroking hair flicking excuse monkey.
