Looking forward to his return in the home fixture , to say a proper goodbye.  but have seen it’s 17th October so won’t be able to…. He’ll be dropped by then ☹️

Bolton have always had a blind spot with keepers. 

I remember they had some permed midget in goal for an FA cup game under the lights at the Dell in the early 90s and Barry Horne lobbed him from about 35 yards to equalise in the last minute and take it to extra time. Pitch invasion, absolute scenes 

Then he scored again in ET to win it

I’ve spent a good while in bed this morning going back through this thread, there’s actually a lot of golden posts throughout. Some people called it straight away, some people took a bit of time, and some - Pingpong - refused to have a bid word said against him. Page 9 is where any early optimism starts to unravel.

If someone asked me to name one signing that summed up the less than impressive ownership of Sport Republic it’d be this bloke. The way he was signed on a fairly big fee and thrust straight into the first team and was basically undroppable was ridiculous, and I’ll never be convinced him being picked wasn’t some sort of instruction from someone above the coaching team.

So glad we never have to see him in a Saints shirt again.

Only 1 howler. If Baz is the alternative , only one howler a game makes you pretty much undroppable

I'm still waiting for a single video example of a baz howler during his time with us.

By all means criticise his agility, ability to get low or reaction speed - but his handling and distribution were very good, and he made no notable "howlers" whilst at saints.

When you collate it all together and look at it all as a whole, you realise the amount of points this clown has cost us from not even being capable of doing the basics of his job. Still pisses me off the amount of time we persisted in him as our number 1. Criminal

It just typifies the lack of football knowledge and experience at the club since SR pitched up. As @RedArmy said, the Boro shellacking and his horrific part in that was too much even for SR but it was 92 games too late.

I think the loan spell at Stoke really finished it off for him here though as they couldn’t write it off as being psychological in a Saints shirt AKA BBD. He was dreadful at Liege as well.

The stoke error was a godsend for us really as even SR wouldn’t have been able to integrate him back into our squad after that, on top of his performances for us before hand.

He’s the worst keeper to play for our first team by miles - compared to his 92 games, I don’t believe that a 17 year old Keith Grainger or Alan Blayney or Ian Andrew’s can compare. Even middle aged Chris Woods with a broken leg was better. 

The mind boggles as to how bad a keeper would have to be to dislodge him in the worst ever Southampton XI. That said, if any owners will pursue that aim with grim determination, it’s SR.

He’s not the worst ever actual goalkeeper I’ve seen live though (I don’t mean Colin Clarke or David Howells as outfield custodians. Although Kenwyne Jones was probably better!). That honour belongs to this chap, I was at a stag do in the Broads and as the groom is a Canary, we took in their home opener against local team Colchester. Let this sink in - world class former keeper Bryan Gunn signed him. Short term pain for long-term gain as Colchester manager Paul Lambert left them for Norwich and consecutive promotions and mid-table PL finish resulted.

 Norwich’s right back might look familiar.

Remember this well as it was also our first 3rd tier game for decades at home to Millwall. Couldn’t believe it when I heard the score. That keeper didn’t play again im pretty sure? Also Gunn was sacked after another couple of games and replaced by lambert who was Colchester manager that day, who then took Norwich to the title, and beat Colchester away 5-0 in the reverse game!
