Such a Saints fan mentality - woe is us there is a team with 2nd year of parachute payments still in the league.

Next year just got a bit tougher

Agreed, 4 parachute teams and the 2 American owned teams with similar commercial revenues. That should be the top 6 but Luton show it’s not that straight forward.

I'm not sure. Sheffield United weren't as good as their final points tally suggested. My mate is a fan and said they were poor in a lot of games but scraped a large number of wins.

Didn’t see that coming but a cracking goal to win the game. Sheffield United must be gutted.

Wrong, Sheffield United are relieved not to have to live through another season in the top flight that we've just had.

Yeah they weren't great in a few I saw, but were well organised especially at the back , other than the Bristol City games their end of season form was poor

I think most fans of next years promotion hopefuls will be annoyed that the Blades are still in it, they’ve proven themselves to be comfortably better than Sunderland throughout all but the last 45 minutes of this season.

its an odd one with the financial fair play rules. Birmingham have wealthy owners who want to invest but not a big turnover as a business, whereas Wrexham actually have a big income due to Disney documentary that has millions of viewers and sponsorship deals that arise from that, having had three successive promotions they'll have to change a lot of the squad now

I understand the logic but they aren’t all that and absolutely no guarantee they will continue in same way next season. If we are going to be any good we don’t need to fret over one other team.

So as a pundit he is meant to not criticise because someone could lay the same thing on him?  The anger towards Martin by some fans is pathetic. This time last year was superb and he was key to that. Obviously he was shite in the PL but FFS give the bloke a break

Nothing’s guaranteed but the last two years somebody has finished third on 90 points and not been promoted. You can be a flippin’ good team and still not go up, so I’ll take any help we can get.

From a footballing point of view, annoying as Sheff Utd will be a bigger threat.

From a match going perspective, brilliant because a trip to Sunderland is fucking long. Even longer when you lose 5-0...

Christ they battered us that game. Jack Clarke tore us a new one.

Sunderland won that in 15 mins, the rest of the game they were second best.

Based on that, without significant investment and squad churn, they will be absolute fodder. They should enjoy the day though, like we did! But it will probably be short lived.

It's terrible news for us though as it means the carthorse that is BBD is back on the scene. I've never disliked a player as much as him.

BBD needs to get fit at least, carthorse cameo today and overall has had three very bad spells at clubs on the trot now. He’s a limited player but can be effective at Championship level, a Russell Martin pre-season just focusing on ball retention especially didn’t work for him.

In my worst ever top flight Saints XI though.

I think Spors and Still have a huge body of work to do over the next two months or so, Sheff Utd in the mix isn’t helpful but Hamer may be sold and Saints need a summer of more going right than wrong. Hopefully they take the mindset of needing to raise the bar further than they thought and take the tough decisions on Bazanu, Smallbone etc to build a smaller squad with far more quality for the level we’re at.

BBD is still yet to be in a side to win a premiere league game i think....................

Behave, he had a few months in a terrible Saints team playing in a position where he hardly saw of the ball. We've wasted plenty of money on players in recent times, some with much worse attitudes, in fact ABK would be much higher up the list of dislike

Great for Sunderland,my second team since the mid sixties, due to Jim Montgomery. [ I remember Monty being on loan to Saints in 1975, for a month [ 4 games ].

Also great to see Aberdeen win the scottish cup.

Let him come back when he owns the tactical changes that he apparently didn't make.

This time last year I respected him for showing some adaptability.

He is arrogant enough to try and say he changed nothing, it was all the same apparently. Total fucking idiot worthy of all criticism heading his way.
