What the hell do they all see in him? He has no football brain whatsoever. All fart no shit !

Or maybe, just maybe, in a side that allows wingers to actually be wingers professional football managers recognise that at 23 years old he shows great promise.

25 league appearances at 1045 minutes total, average of 43 minutes per appearance (so essentially less than 12 full games in terms of minutes on the pitch). 4 goals and an assist.

Take that record across the whole season he's into double figures for goals.

I'm still not upset he's going. Good money to hopefully bring in someone better and younger.

I'm just sick and tired of money being wasted because players are written off so easily. People get so wrapped up in this new age obsession with players that can do every aspect of the game to at least an average level, that players who are dangerous for specialist situations/styles of play are dying out.

Maybe but his decision making is abysmal, I have no doubt he can beat a man, he has the pace but absolutely no clue what to do when he gets into good positions. I’m not holding my breath on that changing tbh

Onuachu and Sully were probably the easiest to sell. Saints want rid and aren't playing hard ball. That will be reserved for Fernandes, Dibling, Downes, and THB.

Ramsdale will find a suitor somewhere. Same goes for Bendarek.

However, what the hell do the club do with ABK, Frazer and Taylor. They are not going to give up a decent wage. Probably impossible to sell, the club will have to take the hit on loans.

Agree with you there. Sulemana may end up with a disappointing career but if he went somewhere with a good coach he could suddenly make the most of his best attributes and we could rue the fact we never got the best out of him. Could just as well flop though so selling him for good money is probably a good thing to do. 12 million plus like someone else said and I'd sell.

The coaching he received here was certainly not the best but he's just another in a long line of players who make a living because they can run fast but have zero understanding of how to actually play football. He will never amount to much and certainly couldn't lace Sadio Mane's boots. Get as much as we can and chalk it down as yet another error by SR.

I never claimed he was anything like Mane, nor did I say he would amount to much but I certainly think he can improve and with better coaching I'd like to see what he could do. Happy if we get enough to sell him but also wouldn't be surprised if he proves you wrong and improves.

Wow, an athletic, pacey, strong full back who is 6'2" tall - what's not to like? Looks great on the video I watched although the standard he's playing in won't be Championship level. Never-the-less he looks to have plenty about him and, if Poch is a fan, I am too. Get him on the bus 🙂

The frustrating thing is you see this 1000000000 times. I’ve spent the last 5 years of my life in grassroots football and the technically better players are 90/100 overlooked because stronger, faster players get preferred over and over again.

pace and power excites people in England technique doesn’t, I bet you the majority of fans would rather watch quick, fast players over the likes Bernardo Silva, Iniesta, Xavi etc they are much better footballs but not spectacular players. Parents and coaches still want the big fast kids the small Ones who are better footballers get ruined

Not sure why you mentioned mane then other than the fact that both are black and have some pace. There's not really a comparison there.

If it was a choice between Sulemana and one of Bernando Silva, Iniesta or Xavi I assure you I wouldn't take Sulemana and nor would anyone else. When it comes to the technically gifted but physically limited players we aren't shopping in that range - ours is more players like Boufal, Ramirez and Alcaraz. Trouble is they get slated as well just for different reasons, fans want the full package and we can't afford that, so we end up with players who are average at everything and exceptional at nothing.

In fact the one thing all these players have in common is that they were all signed relatively young, written off pretty quick and sold while they were still relatively young. Sulemana despite feeling like he's been around for ages will be leaving at only 23 years old - if he never signed for us and we bought him tomorrow at that age, we'd be saying give him a couple of years before he'll be at his best.

Age is a significant factor in all of this.

At 31 years old, Onuachu is no spring chicken and getting €8m for him is actually quite a coup - especially for a player who is so lacking in pace and skill.

On the other hand, Sulemana is still young and while all the naysayers are slating him here, in the last few matches of the season he was one of the few bright lights in our side and there were glimpses of what he could become. While Jones brought him in out obsession with pace rather than any consideration for his tactical nouse or ability to cross, Simon Rusk did seem to unlock a little bit more than others have managed.

With that in mind, I think the club have done the right thing to turn down a fee as small as €10m. Hopefully if he does go it will be for a fee significantly in excess of that and closer to his original purchase cost.

Obviously but that’s comparing great players to shit ones.

If there were two players like for like one’s biggest attributes were speed and strength the others was first touch and great technique the vast majority of people watching the game in this country would say the fast strong one was the better player, they aren’t. Better athlete yes, better footballer no.

But that’s why us naysayers are posting it - there was no end product at all .

He is 23 at his peak played under Cocky Martin, Juric and Rusk yet none could get that end product out of him.

If we could get 15m for him I think it’s time to cut and run.

we all waited for him to replicate that Liverpool game sadly he didn’t

Just sell Sulemana please. Yes hes only 23 but he offered very little in the Championship last time and although he improved in the PL, he was still so wasteful or repeatedly chose the wrong option. Djenepo and Boufal at least produced some moments of magic once in a while.

How many years do we have to give him before we'll say "He'll be consistently average soon, just give him time"?

There is no 'new age obsession' with anything. Paul Onuachu is a substandard footballer and his fitness is awful. The fact that he's 31 and Racing Genk is the only other club who's ever forked out money to buy him should tell you something.

If the 'dangerous specialist situations' you're talking about are the two headed goals he's scored in his whole Saints career, I'm fairly comfortable we'll be able to replicate that with a fairly average CB, at set pieces.

Absolutely. My point is that if you can't afford players that are great athletes and great footballers, you need a mix of players who are both.

Wanyama was awful technically but unstoppable as a DM because of his physicality. Lallana had no strength or pace about him but his positioning, anticipation and first touch meant it didn't matter.

Taylor? Play him at LWB, that type of player gets you promotions and on a small sample size he looked better than Manning who is ok as back up. Larios will be a wage-write off loan to the Spanish lower leagues. Taylor shouldn’t be judged on seeing through two bullshit football managers, 300 PL appearances.

ABK will get a Bundesliga club as long as we keep the fee under 5m Euros, get him off the books. Fraser - agree with you there, but could be a useful impact player like last time if Still can get him fit and focused again.

I'd compare him to Boufal - obvious ability when carrying the ball and obvious huge defects to his game.

Potentially looking to make back around £15-20m on two players who set us back £40m 2 years ago.

At this point just get what we can, move on, and forget it ever happened.

Taylor looked decent enough at centre back as well so good to have in the squad.

That's almost certainly as good as we're going to get, a surprising bonus income if we get that over the line. I expected a loan for him, so that's good news.

Take the money and run.  He's had his chances under numerous managers and hasn't delivered.  There'll always be an element of "what if?" with Sulemana because he has got talent but time to move on and let him show unfulfilled potential for someone else now.

F**k me, if Atalanta pay €20m for Kamaldeen Sulemana, that’ll be the greatest robbery in football, since Southampton payed €25m for Kamaldeen Sulemana.

So £15million then. If we're going to get rid of him and Onuachu for a combined £21million then honestly i'd hope we'd take that money and throw it at whichever player was top scorer outside the promoted sides last season (Josh Sargent?) I don't want to see it used to bring in 3 or 4 players to "strengthen the squad".

Agree with the above that's the kind of no nonsense marquee signing we need, no pissing about get the reddies on the table and target some of the best performers on the Championship last season.

Hopefully for Saints it’s a case of TP transfer fee + KS transfer fee = BS transfer fee.

Chances of it happening though < 5% sadly. Not when Forest Porto and Atletic bilbao all interested - even if his current wages are achievable for us ( currently £15k pw but that’s gonna shoot up wherever he goes )

Perfect #1 choice for us if KS leaves and ditto the goal scoring machine that is TP. But sadly not going to cross the line I fear. A winger? Who SCORES!! Damn that’s rare! 🤭

Release clause for what we paid for him if we don't get promoted would be my guess.
