You could argue that the cash saved on wages plus loan fee could help with players coming. Particularly when in most games a GK of his quality is not needed in the league.

Sure. As always books need to be balanced, but if we want to win the league, then having a GK of his quality is very much needed IMO.

Seriously though, it appears to quote a doctor, who has no involvement with Dibling, saying that a minor ankle injury is unlikely to derail any potential transfer. No actual news or facts in it at all.

One of many these days but in the pre-internet/teletext days and early internet they were more prominent and just as unreliable.

Ramsdale better than Pope? I'm not sure how to measure goalkeepers but not convinced by that.

They aren't 'unreliable', they do not write the stories. Aggregator websites merely list stories from other websites and in Newsnows case, they pass no comment on them. If the rumour is bullshit, that is the fault of the website that wrote it, not Newsnow.

Football fan unsure how to evaluate goalkeepers says one is better than another.  If BreakingMedia are ever looking for writers, I think I have what it takes.

Decent loan fee, wages off the books, and he'd still be our player so could come back if we get promoted next year. As long as we're able to replace him (probably with another loan) then it makes sense for all parties really.

Yes, feels likely - does seem to be the kind of player who has had an awful lot of "linked with" noise for the last few windows.

It’s probably a stretch because it’s not what I said. The OP was making a point about players being identified by ‘non football’ people. I asked if Shields counted as a football person.

I think people are entitled to form whatever opinion of a player they like - that’s their prerogative. I don’t go along with the implication that our recruitment had been run by people without a scooby. Talent and potential aren’t in a vacuum - some transfers work, some don’t for plenty of reasons. Bazunu clearly hasn’t worked - or at least worked yet if we’re being kind - but signing a young keeper who was a player of the season for a league one side and the starting goal keeper for Ireland at 21 (ish) isn’t some ridiculous concept.

Jan Bednarek confirmed.

A decent servant, eight years at the club, certainly not a world beater but definitely redeemed himself after his Villa spell and helped get us promoted again.

Wish him well.
