Also they haven't responded to the offer but presumably will this evening? Why wait? And why tell some random Armenian on social media that you will make an announcement later that day?

Obviously hoping another club comes in with a better offer.

If that were the case then why put a deadline of responding this evening? You'd just keep stringing it along.

Yep, he has been here for a while, and had 6 months to prepare for this window.

Wilcox managed to bring in players who immediately commanded starting berths in our team (and made us better)

Quarshie and Downs are not that

What a load of bollocks. For a start as already mentioned we hadn’t signed any of those good players by this point in the window so there is no comparison yet.
Manning was the weakest outfield player in the team for most of the season.
Charles failed to impress at that stage of his career.
Downes was the first of the loan signings to come in and that was 100% a Russell Martin signing and nothing to do with Wilcox.

Let’s not forget we also signed Holgate on loan who was fucking shite and Stewart bought from Sunderland who was injured all season.

I see the window ending with ABK being released on a free on the final day, and immediately signing for someone else (a bit like Ryan Fraser did with us).

Aribo will be sold next week, my guess on a low, low fee.

Edozie will go for £5m to a team abroad.

The club can wait and wait for transfer fees to come their way but equally the longer we wait the more desperate you are to get rid as well as buy.

Also, every deal runs this way but we just clearly have a very active agent feeding stuff through this Armenian channel.

People suggesting we should just walk away because it’s not immediate are hilarious. We are a Championship club and not a desirable option. I’m not sure why anyone thinks we have some huge leverage here and people with pedigree are dying to join us.

As long as we have alternatives lined up in case of failure, we should absolutely pursue these bigger deals.

I don’t personally believe it’ll go through, but SR criticism based on us going for higher-end targets is very bizarre.

People complain that the signings aren't good enough and then complain when we spend time trying to get the better players over the line

No decision has been made in Krasnodar 🇷🇺 regarding the sale of Eduard Spertsyan 🇦🇲.

The Russian club has not responded to Southampton’s 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 offer and does not seem in a hurry to let their player go.

A decision will be made by the end of the day.

Cant Spors get on the blower to Trump to sort this out?

I don't think clubs like West Brom and Coventry who see themselves as promotion contenders are going to sell players like Fellows or Rudoni to Saints who they see as a competitor for promotion

I looks like we'll end up sending Aribo and ABK out loan for a season and letting them go for free  next summer.

I get the feeling we need to get rid of the deadwood in the squad and reduce our wage bill before we bring any more players in  - and even then I think it will be relatively cheap loan deals unless we make a big sale (THB, Dibling or Fernandes).

Whatever happens in what's left of the transfer window I just hope we move away form playing 3-4-2-1 or 3-5-2.

I'm not convinced we can't play 4-2-3-1 with one of Fernandes/Smallbone/Aribo as a 10 and one of Robinson/Dibling/Edozie/Fraser as a winger and one of Armstrong/BBD/Archer as an inside forward behind Stewart/Downs.

I actually think it will suit the players that we have better than the current set-up.

Yeah, surely a 2-party summit with Trump in Alaska would have this resolved by teatime.

He seems like actually a good guy who wants to do right by his club.

My thoughts exactly. Everyone getting themselves at it about it but from what I’ve read about the player he seems to be a decent bloke. Wanted to stay with the club until they won a trophy, not being drawn on questions by the media and not forcing a move even though it’s out there that he wants it and has agreed terms.

What we need is a little less conversation....since he  clearly isn't way down our hit list.

It's all about when we decide that those players aren't going to happen and we move on to other targets. As long as we get quality in and also decent replacements for the good players who will leave that will immediately. Improve us I'll be happy. Not long left to do that though and the link to the winger yesterday isn't the level of player I'd be looking for in that bracket.

Personally I'd like to see us make a big bid for fellows. That's the sort of player I think would improve us immediately. I don't necessarily disagree with signing downs and Quarshie (although in downs' case I would have liked to have seen a more reliable goalscorer signed for that position and a proper Adams replacement) but we must admit that they are quite different players to the ones we signed last time and are more viewed as players with good attributes who have the potential to move up the leagues with us.

For all we know, we may have moved on already. We have obviously enquired about Rudoni, so certainly aren't putting all our eggs into one basket when it comes to the attacking midfielder.

I wonder where WBA are financially. They sold Heggam, who I thought would be good for us, so that will have generated much needed funds, but they may still need to sell another to balance the books. The fact Fellows has not been bought by a PL club is a slight concern. Are we buying a guy that can't make the step up should we get promoted. Should we worry about that right now?

If we were going to sign the Armenian wouldn’t we need to sign two Armenians?

I know people say Southampton is a cosmopolitan city, but he is surely going to need an Imants Bledelis / Kleber Chala type to pick the colours out of the snooker table pockets when he’s on a decent-sized break (?).

Saint Lambden has been quite for the last couple of days? 👀

he was pretty confident we had the Armenian transfer wrapped up reading his previous posts. Would be keen to hear what his understanding is on things now it appears to be stalling and other clubs names (Leeds, Porto, Lens etc) have been mentioned as being interested.

As it's been said already, I think the club are holding out for a bidding war to get more money. If the player is that respectful of the club whilst he may be happy with Saints terms, he may want the club to get as much for him as they can which will also inevitably end up benefitting him with bigger wages from a bigger team playing on a bigger stage and I'm sure his Agent is whispering in his ear too knowing they will get a bigger cut if a bigger fish comes into play.

Sadly this is the way the transfer market works. He may be our #1 option but he could be option #3 or #4 for some bigger teams and if they don't get their top choices, they may turn to him so it benefits both the club and him for things to drag out. Obviously doesn't help us so all we can do is sit and hope that it pans out whilst hopefully working on other options in the background in case he ends up going elsewhere so we can pull the trigger quickly on our back up options.

He's got one year left of his contract at Inter. He started the CL final. Not sure he's quite ready to drop down to the championship.

We just need Spors to sell him the project and the wonderful club that is Saints, maybe show him round West Quay

He won't be able to help falling in love

This is the best bit of news in that post.

Either get it done or move on. Absolutely no point waiting.

No way Krasnador make a final decision today, doesn't mean we won't walk away.

On Spertsyan - not sure why we would identify someone as a top target, seemingly convince the player of the move, make a bid to a team that will obviously be difficult to deal with (he is their best player afterall) and then just walk away before either he stays at his current club or moves elsewhere?

Yes you would maneouvre some kind of contingency plan but would be bizarre to just call it quits with this long left of the window and clearly a lot of effort invested.

Anyone know this place? Can Porto and Leeds boast a resturant that aligns with Armenian flavours?

Anatolian Turkish Restaurant:
This restaurant offers a diverse menu of Mediterranean-inspired dishes, with an emphasis on quality and luxury. They also feature a premium bar and a space for socializing with friends. Their use of fresh, local ingredients and a seasonally changing menu might offer some dishes that align with Armenian flavors
