So at the operating level, they were losing a lot of money. They swung back to a profit because of the huge profit on player sales they made." “2025-26 is a mirror image of that season, i.e. their first back in the Championship after relegation. “Now, we don’t have the accounts for 2024-25, so we don’t know what the wage bill is, but we can safely assume that costs are going to massively outstrip revenue once again. “Yes, they have parachute payments, but they will still be generating an operating loss, so sales are necessary both in terms of PSR and to fund the club’s day-to-day operations. “That’s the simple answer. You can’t have a Premier League wage bill and a Premier League squad in the Championship when your revenue, even with parachute payments, has been cut in half overnight.” We just need to add an extra bit of income. Perhaps charging those who attend St Mary's a few ££ when they leave? Or a 100% surcharge if you are buying a ticket for someone else? Maybe fee for anyone who doesn't join in with OWTS? I did the same economics course as Rayner BTW. 2

I think we should expand the stadium, let kids in for a fiver and give more tickets to the away fans. We’d also make a fortune on hot dog sales.

Where's the surplus that means we don't have to sell? It depends if you're talking pure finances or PSR. PSR we don't need to. Pure finances we may do, but that's up to Dragan.

A great big Saints related theme park on the land next to st Mary’s. we could have rides based on Saints themes, the Martin ride, the ride is really boring, goes sideways and backwards and if you ask for your money back the guy In charge says you whilst he was proud of you for trying but you werent good enough to use the ride properly. EBS1980 Posted August 23 Posted August 23 we must get a couple of creative players into this starting XI now. our only way currently is crossing into the box and hoping it falls to someone. 3 goals scored by defenders so far vs 1 from a forward says a lot. 2
Saint NL Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Can we loan out Downs? And Archer? Fuck it, Stewart as well. All of them are useless. 2
Turkish Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Massive week ahead we have lead for about 2 minutes this season. Need some creativity urgently 8

Monk Posted August 23 Posted August 23 I’d take Bamford or Ings over everything we have at the moment. 5
AlexLaw76 Posted August 23 Posted August 23 We need championship star quality bright in to have a slither of a chance of going up
Dman Posted August 23 Posted August 23 2 wingers (actually half decent ones, not some cheap noddy from the french leauge), a genunie number 10 and another CM should fernandes leave is a minimum for me. Fellows, Azaz and another. Unrealistic, but a number 9 would be nice. It wont happen but what we currently have aren't good enough. And sorry Baz, you've done nothing wrong, but get that fucking stoke keeper. Easily the best keeper in this leauge. 2
James Posted August 23 Posted August 23 On the basis that Downs and Quarshie were our “must have” signings I am not going to hold my breath for anything decent this next week. We needed much more active transfer window than we’ve had. If we’ve wasted the whole window trying to get the Armenian dude in a carbon copy of Gakpo then it’s proof that Sports Republic aren’t learning. The current team is not going to make the playoffs at this rate, depressing all round. 1

santolijador Posted August 23 Posted August 23 If Spors has any balls, we ship 1/2 of Archer, Arma or Stewart and go and get another striker in, alongside a couple of wingers and a 10. Minimal chance of it happening alas. 2
Dman Posted August 23 Posted August 23 1 minute ago, Smirking_Saint said: Ings has done fuck all for about 4 years Why do we keep banging on about him Its pretty obvious really. Which I'd probably agree with. 1

qwertyell Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Heading into the final week of another stellar transfer window needing two starting wingers, a starting 10, and probably a starting 6. And our striking options will still be garbage. Good job, everyone. 2
Dman Posted August 23 Posted August 23 I fully appreciate his is probably half way out the door, but why on earth aren't we giving Edozie a game until he's gone. He's not great, but hes one of the 2 genuine wingers we have in the side. At least he tries to beat a man.
Lee On Solent Saint Posted August 23 Posted August 23 Murphy from them fuckers down the road would be a decent signing. Would never happen though. Even Bishop is a better striker than anything we currently have.

ally_uk Posted August 23 Posted August 23 I'd be tempted to fuck off the majority of our strike force and start again. Stewart, Diaz, Archer can all go. Downs it's early days but he looks Shite....... If we keep Armstrong don't play him as a lone striker. Get someone like Mitrovic in that would liven these sacks of shit up.... 3

The two players that Spors was taking a victory lap about signing nice and early have so far proved to be wasted effort and money and neither would have been coveted by any of our rivals. In fact someone else (Ipswich?) actually signed the striker ahead of Downs in the USA pecking order. I'm not writing either off, sure both could be great eventually but those are signings that could have waited until August 31st. Spors has not unearthed anything of note for us. Signing a good winger from Middlesbrough or a handy attacker from Cov or WBA would be great but is not evidence of wonder scouting either. They are signings that any Championship club with coin can make happen. Big week for Spors, this. Edited August 23 by CB Fry 2
Pamplemousse Posted August 23 Posted August 23 3 games into the season and our best and only winger available is Ryan Fraser. That cannot be our only creative option. How has that happened? 1

That cannot be our only creative option. How has that happened? Poor performance by the Director of Football. Needs a really stellar week or on his bike I think. Good start with Sulemana and Onachu but dreadful since. Downs - I’ve seen big lumps in National League South with a better first touch. To call him a donkey is an insult to the animals. Ali Dia had better technique than that. £7m is beer money but still utterly wasted, and the £15-20m needed for a standout striker at this level is still needed, so dig deep Dragan. This week should hurt a great deal if the club is get back on track. 3
