Jamie Donley. Is he ready for Championship?

Does he play centrally? We were also linked with Guilherme from West Ham and the Swedish guy Zeneli who looks good.

Rumours seem quite sparse for a club clearly trying to strengthen/replace in attacking midfield and out wide but there's been a few:

William Boving looks a good left wing option

Carlos Vicente on the right looks like a very good, hard working winger.

Eduard Spertsyan might be a bit optimistic but fits the bill for the AM/No. 10 role

Lennon Miller can play anywhere in midfield but looks like he can take his pick of clubs.

Besfort Zeneli still hasn't gone anywhere.

Guilherme is a decent loan shout.

Jamie Donley (loan)

Alysson Edward from Gremio for your annual South American "one for the future" link

Always Rak-Sakyi too although I don't think he's as good as Edozie let alone better.

Any recommendations for Championship focused podcasts other than the Second Tier pod? I listen Ed to that last time we were in the Champ but not sure I can do another season of it..!

Did you hear the disappointment in their voices after our play off final win against Leeds? 🤣

Those clowns were devastated

Come on Saints. Give us some juicy transfer incoming rumours so we can forget about yesterday's news like Dibling and Fernandes.

The news is that the club are calm and relaxed about the situation. They feel they have a good squad even without additions, and will only add if it improves the quality of the squad  (that's in jest)

In all seriousness, we still need to shift numbers before we can realistically start adding more players. We do have holes in terms of quality, but we're still totally bloated with players on big wages. The squad is a bit of a mess, loads and loads of work to do in 4 weeks. I still think this will take a few windows to cycle through properly, so we won't be the finished article in September - Whether that will be enough for us to be competitive is anyone's guess at this stage.

NTT20 is good, however, there’s not much free stuff, it’s well put together and £72 annual subscription also gets you league one and two information.

I think Dibling’s departure always felt inevitable, and if the deal is around £40 million, that’s solid business. He’s clearly talented, but hasn’t shown the consistency to warrant the £50m+ valuation that was being thrown around.

It feels like this week could see a number of dominoes start to fall - hopefully in both directions — and with that, some quality arriving too.

Also, maybe it’s just me (I haven’t seen anyone else say it), but was there a hint of frustration in Will Still’s recent comments about still knowing where they need to improve? Or am I just letting my pre-season pessimism creep in where it shouldn't…

That isn't what the club said. They said we could get an AM in before selling

Can we make some bids even if they are rejected at least we can see that SFC is doing something regarding incomings.

The silence on incomings is deafening

Almost certainly we've tried and they weren't interested. Still time of course but I want some rumours.

The words from Dragon were that we were trying a Striker, Defender and AMC - and we can do before selling. We got the striker and defender, but maybe the AMC just didn't materialise for whatever reason.

We do need to be mindful that we do still have Aribo/Edozie and co on the books though, they need to be shifted. Not just financially, but squad size wise really. The vibe I get is that the club want to improve on Aribo, Edozie.

Dibling - 40 million?

Half of me thinks yes, go on, cash in on potential that hasnt been seen since before Christmas while the other half of me thinks with the right manager and an arm around him he could tear up this Championship.

Why would he though, he'd get lumps kicked out of him every week for a fraction of the fame and fortune?

If he won't sign a new contract his agent has the club's balls in a vice. But should still make other teams pay, and if he doesn't get his move then offer him a bumper pay deal. We'll regret selling dibling - after a year in the champ he's going to come out with a better future than grealish had.

Honestly think its beyond embarrassing when players kick off like this. They signed a contract - get on with it. You can ask the club to leave, but ultimately you committed to respecting the club and to play for them for the duration of the contract. I'd steer clear of any player that has a strop or says they're unable to play because they "supposedly" can't handle speculation about getting more money (think we all know its because he's having a tantrum) - smacks of a troublesome attitude to me, and a player that can't be relied on in a crunch.

He’s only been there a season and I mean no disrespect to them, but it’s also Brentford…

Mind you, they will actually invest in players, but then you can with the Man U money burning a hole in their pocket.

Wissa was having a meltdown last I saw about Newcastle’s £25m turned down. Big test for a very green manager.

That's kind of the way I'm leaning tbh.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Donley ends up being a very late loan although the Maddison suspected ACL and Son might put paid to that.

We could have kept him if SR cared about staying up.

most of me thinks, wish we hadn't been relegated twice in three years otherwise we might have seen the next MLT blossom before our eyes.

Would it not make sense to see whether we may have some additional funds if we get big money for him?

I suggested Kofi Shaw from Bristol Rovers might be worth a look in the AM role, but Brighton have just signed him.

I fully expect THB to end up somewhere like Burnley, West Ham, Palace or Everton before the window closes - a lower end Premier league club that needs to add some depth to its centre back ranks. It makes sense for clubs to wait until he is pretty much training as normal and ready to play for us before they splash the cash on a fee and wages.  To be honest I would imagine we are not rushing him in to games for us as we want to sell him and don't want him to get injured again before we sell him.

THB also wants to move as he thinks he has a chance of getting an England place - and need to be in the premier league for that.

Whether he's really good enough for that or the premier league is another matter.

Of those clubs, only Everton or West Ham could stump up around £35m for what Saints would want, because the Dibling and Fernandes sales will relieve any financial pressure. Palace can afford it and European football, but is CB a priority to strengthen for them?

I was going to post the same thing.  What do we want, a £6m AM three weeks ago, or a £15m next week?

We probably know exactly who we want, may have discussed or even agreed a price with the selling club and now are just waiting for them to give the green light because they haven't signed the replacement yet themselves.

Not fussed about the pace of the transfers. Its completely normal. All that matters is we get the right ones in. If five come in in total, we need maybe four to work, right from the off.

Even then, who's spending £35m on a backup CB.

Hopefully we see some incomings this week, as we need added creativity in our side. That is evident.

Realistically we’re going to be waiting a few weeks for players to become available on loan.

Baffles me every year why people think the club are not working on deals just because every single move is not reported to them, but I guess we're living in a time of instant gratification. People would rather be fed a load of bollocks that has no substance to it than wait for deals to secured.

Look at the Quarshie deal - nobody knew that was happening until it was basically done. That's how the club should be operating.

Quality over quantity is still the mantra.

Quite - I can’t see it. And he won’t be PL-ready until October having missed pre-season. Might get away with it by Sept in the Champ. If you’re spending that fee, for most PL clubs bar 3 or 4, that’s a starter.

Glad we're holding firm on fees again for our biggest assets. Certainly no 'fire sale' as Blackmore eluded to.

£45m plus a sizeable sell on is good business with Robinson waiting in the wings as the next breakthrough prospect

Need to replace him with someone like Brooks now.

Would love that to happen and, if it did, say before the end of the week, anyone no whether Brooksy would be cup-tied for the Wrexham game as he's probably played a few mins in one of Bournemouths pre-season games.....

Exactly this, the medical team flew out to Brazil a few weeks ago, then the news about us after the youngster broke (edwards ?)

The point is, as you say, there’s plenty happening, they’re under no obligation to stroke the balls of the bed wetters on here

As things stand Saido Berahino has had more impact as a teenager in the Premier League than Tyler Dibling has. Let that sink in.

£40m for a kid who supposedly doesn’t want to be here, hasn’t proved anything yet, just has “potential”.
