I think we're best to play Fernandes and Charles as the two and drop Downes.

Who would do the tackling and harrying because currently Downes does at least 80% of it?

Like the Mads Roerslev trsnsfer you can't see everything that is going on. Not seeing rumours doesn't mean things aren't happening...

Charlie Taylor was good last night, it seems a no brainer to keep him. Something weird going on there, clearly a decent enough player but hasn't had a look in the whole time he's been here

Still reckon he had a blazing row with Russboy and told him his fortune.

Yep. Ditto Fraser.

Not sure where it was mentioned before, but the link with Azaz seems to further point towards it. Saints do seem to have leaned on Unique Sports Group quite a bit recently, both in terms of actual signings of recent years and players we’ve been linked with this window.

Ins:

  • Will Still

  • Taylor Harwood-Bellis

  • Cameron Archer

  • Josh Quarshie

  • David Brooks

  • Maxwel Cornet

  • Joe Lumley

Linked/Targets:

  • Finn Azaz

  • Jack Rudoni

Might just be coincidence, but it feels like one worth keeping an eye on going forward.

Good spot. Loaning Lewis Miley from Newcastle would be a good start.

But he doesn't really, that's the problem.

Frankly with the squad we have a defensive mid is not always needed, and when it is Shea can drop slightly. He covers a lot of ground and is deceptively strong.

Yes I posted about this, on this thread last week. They do have quite a lot of players on their books, but does feel we have a strong link there.

A couple of potential clients that may help us:

1) Harrison Reed who certainly-CDAJFU but unlikely he'd want to be "cover" for Downes/Charles.

2) Grady Diangana an attacking mid/right winger (formally of WBA) who is a free agent with 25 goals/22 assists from 172 games at Championship level. Valencia linked in June, so might be unlikely...

Can't be arsed to check back through the thread and see if yesterday's quote from the Krasnador manager Musayev desperately insisting they will not stand in Spertsyan’s way if we up our offer have been posted:

https://eflanalysis.com/transfers/southampton-target-could-play-for-psg-as-manager-rules-out-blocking-10-5m-move/

How have you drawn that conclusion from those quotes?

“I want to say that ‘Edik’ has been at the club for a long time, we have a very trusting relationship. We are not keeping him by force. Everything that will happen in the end is our joint decision,” Musayev says.

“It is strange to me that you, the press, want Spertsyan to leave. I think that no country in the world would want to lose one of the most outstanding players in the championship.

“Fedor Chalov, Anton Miranchuk, Arsen Zakharyan left, and what happened as a result? Did they become stronger when they left? Anton Miranchuk returned and will continue to delight us with his play. We must respect our championship and our players and not write that someone should leave.

“If there is an offer that suits everyone, as was the case with Matvey Safonov, then okay. We will shake hands and thank him.”

"Offer that suits everyone" does not just mean Saints pay more and he goes.

I just learned that the transfer window slams shut at 7pm on Monday instead of the usual 11pm. Thought I'd share it.

Important info for glaziers everywhere

I'd be happy with that. He's not getting game time at Fulham so would seem at least feasible.

Isn’t Cairney out of contract there too? Haven’t  seen him for a while but strong and good leadership

I'd argue it means exactly that. The offer Saints have made to Spertsyan obviously agrees with him, but the transfer fee we have made does not agree with his club.

Is that one of those "I'm ITK but cant say anything outright so I'll pose it as a question" type questions? :)

(Used to be known as "Doing a Hypo" back in the day ;) )

Well he was right about Spors and two signings incoming (albeit one a bit later)

Omari Kellyman would be a player i'd be looking at to take on loan

He scored goals against Saints youth team when he was at Villa. They will be very aware of him. Did he make their EUFA conference squad last year?

That’s almost half a Dibling.

Promblem is that if we bought him for £20m we will have to rebuy next season as I dont feel he is good enough for the PL

West Ham looking to take Onana on loan from Man United.

New record low points record might be broken this year 😂

Think they're after a GK from Brazil. Their transfer approach has always seemed confused to me though, they just flap around all summer. They've already got Mads Hermansen, Areola and Wes Foderingham as their GK's. Why do they need another?

I've always rated Areola myself, but they seem keen to displace him at any opportunity.

He should get Walcott and Lallana,  they’d be the best walking football league in the land.

ABK gone and we’re definitely not getting Ings. Best days of the window so far.

What makes you so certain we're not getting Ings? Just because Sheffield United signed him today doesn't mean Saints won't offer them £5million tomorrow.

He's better than any of our forwards and so a bargain

TBH I'd happily have taken Ings on a free and paid him £500 per minute completed plus £20,000 per goal.

I expect he has a good idea how many minutes he's going to play though... and it ain't many.
