Even Koeman had a fairly patchy CV before he came to us, didn't he? Wasn't there a disastrous spell in Spain with a club like Valencia?

Yep, but the same could be said about Strachan as well, and that didn't work out too badly for us.  Some managers just 'fit', simple as, it's just finding one that 'fits'.

Ahh that would make more sense. Still, its a huge figure for a Championship club, especially if they feel Still is a similar pedigree… and personally Id be happy with either

The coaching staff are almost all out of contract, I think. I'm sure the Sheffield Star reported that, but may be getting wires crossed

Literally no one is going to turn down Bayern to stay with Southampton. Had Still been in the same position he would have done the same thing.

Exactly, something better comes along

Anyway i hope we get still i think he's shown more positives in the last 2 weeks, while Rohl has displayed his negatives.

First look at him at the training ground with 1 of his brothers

Great listen as always.

Totally agree with them.

I’m more in favour of Will Still than Danny Rohl, I have been over the last week or so.

Danny Rohl strikes me as someone who would jump at the opportunity of somewhere better.

I assume you've missed the irony of your own post?

In order for Still to become Saints manager, he would need to do exactly the same as you describe for Rohl...

There is no loyalty in soccerball.

I think the £10m was mentioned at the time we wanted him to replace Martin, but probably all changed now. Think one of the coaches (Pedersen) was lined up to take the job when Rohl leaves

Hasn't he already resigned and left his present club ?

Heard of an emerging talent called Sekou Mara who has scored 1 goal, should fit in well.

OMG, did Still sign Mara from us…didn’t realise that if true? Err, that doesn’t bode well, however perhaps he didn’t make those decisions in that clubs setup?

No, he plays for a completely different club.

Thanks for confirming - completely lost track of where Mara went and how he’s doing. Not difficult really.

Im not sure about any candidates, but a little concerned re Still, as will he be focussed as his girlfriend is really unwell and that will of course be his no 1 priority.

I recall the season Merrington was our manager his wife was unwell,  he had a problem as his mind was elsewhere at times, we did stay up by the skin of our teeth that season. If I recall correctly he missed a game or 2 towards the end of season.

She’s recovered now and should be back working in the new season.

She seems well on the road to recovery....pictured two days ago.

Will Still is leaving his role as Lens manager to be closer to his girlfriend Emma Saunders

His other half is well on the mend and she was on the pitch with him at the weekend, she certainly isn't couped up in hospital.

I think it's more of a smokescreen him stating he wants to be in the UK with her, it's likely Lens will be selling heavily again this summer which is something Still mentioned a few months ago and it's whether he would be able to get a tune out of what's left.

He wasn't that shit. Pretty sure he got as many points in his 12 games as Russell Martin and Ivan Juric managed in two thirds of a season.

😂😂 hell of a selling point that

Interesting to see what happens with the existing coaching staff assuming he brings his brothers along.

Rusk has done a decent job and clearly competent but has been replaced in his U21 role but Calum McFarlane who is doing really well. Assume Rusk will leave and pursue a manager job lower down in the EFL.

Lallana I would keep around and players and staff seem to highly value his input and experience and he has played in a high intensity style under Pochettino and Klopp so sure he would be of benefit to Still if there is space in the setup for him. If not he could be used within the Academy surely?

Carl Martin has been the continuity man for ages, will he remain?

Dean Thornton is part of RM's crew but has stuck around since he left.

Would imagine someone with proven experience of EFL football will either remain or be brought in.

Southampton, the club where they do things like hire rugby coaches, non-entities, and powerpoint experts. For once, can we not 'think out of the box' and hire someone with experience, who knows how to motivate and grind out the results we need. This is another shitshow in the making.

You might have tapped into something here.

In our own way, we’ve found Still, and believe him to be the Simon Clifford of the digital and internet age.

In the sense that he has set the U21s up for a good season (his actual job) and then become involved in a thankless task in senior capacity due to failings elsewhere then yes he is still a viable person to keep at the club IMO.

He wasn't hired to do what he is doing now, thats for sure so I'm not going to hold him accountable for a shitshow of a season and not bothered if he were to stay or go.

What are we, some sort of fucking noddy pub team? Is his mate going to run the stiffs as well….

Erwin  Koeman was a Dutch international player with experience of management, what have these blokes done to deserve a coaching job at a club our size. They’re probably ginger as well, so it’s a big fucking no from me.

I hope they clear them all out, start fresh. What ever the current lot are doing is clearly not working.

This. Begone all, coaches and players, we have had too much ‘repeat and rinse’ over the past years. We need a major reset.

Yeah he did, scored quite a few goals but Monaco snapped him up for 40m I think.

Those are not the last three. You missed Mark Wotte.

Plus Dave Merrington and Harry Redknapp came after Alan Ball.

Is there some sort of VAR check on gingers? Because Wotte needs a check.

Not sure I agree with that. I know the season was over long before his spell, but we've still had to endure shit team selections, shit formations and shit performances.
