Wasn't there a disastrous spell in Spain with a club like Valencia? Yep, but the same could be said about Strachan as well, and that didn't work out too badly for us. Some managers just 'fit', simple as, it's just finding one that 'fits'. 4

I’m more in favour of Will Still than Danny Rohl, I have been over the last week or so. Danny Rohl strikes me as someone who would jump at the opportunity of somewhere better. I assume you've missed the irony of your own post? In order for Still to become Saints manager, he would need to do exactly the same as you describe for Rohl... There is no loyalty in soccerball. 1

OldNick Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Im not sure about any candidates, but a little concerned re Still, as will he be focussed as his girlfriend is really unwell and that will of course be his no 1 priority. I recall the season Merrington was our manager his wife was unwell, he had a problem as his mind was elsewhere at times, we did stay up by the skin of our teeth that season. If I recall correctly he missed a game or 2 towards the end of season. 3

I think it's more of a smokescreen him stating he wants to be in the UK with her, it's likely Lens will be selling heavily again this summer which is something Still mentioned a few months ago and it's whether he would be able to get a tune out of what's left. 1

Dusic Posted May 20 Posted May 20 Interesting to see what happens with the existing coaching staff assuming he brings his brothers along. Rusk has done a decent job and clearly competent but has been replaced in his U21 role but Calum McFarlane who is doing really well. Assume Rusk will leave and pursue a manager job lower down in the EFL. Lallana I would keep around and players and staff seem to highly value his input and experience and he has played in a high intensity style under Pochettino and Klopp so sure he would be of benefit to Still if there is space in the setup for him. If not he could be used within the Academy surely? Carl Martin has been the continuity man for ages, will he remain? Dean Thornton is part of RM's crew but has stuck around since he left. Would imagine someone with proven experience of EFL football will either remain or be brought in.
