Those are not the last three. You missed Mark Wotte.

Plus Dave Merrington and Harry Redknapp came after Alan Ball.

Talking of Wotte, he now coaches HVV, an amateur football club in the 6th tier of Dutch football (only the top 2 are professional).

He might resign after watching us against Arsenal.

Don't worry if it gets boring he'll spend the rest of the match playing on his X-box.

Every bit as underwhelming as the appointment of Martin, but at least he'd had a couple of years in the EFL.

Ridiculous gamble.

I am more excited for Still than I was Martin if only for the fact we will not be suffering dull possession football doomed to fail when we are not facing inferior opponents

Presumably they want money to buy out his brothers contracts.
Can’t see them wanting to keep them on anyway personally.

Can’t they just resign as well..? Can’t imagine Lens wanting to retain them……!

To be fair, no one knew how bad the possession obsession would be until a fair few games in - remember the scar tissue excuses?

Also, we had some games where we played great football and had great wins - then we got found out!!

Did we not? It was clear from his football at MK and Swansea what we were getting

I like this line from the Echo: "Still's side are bottom half for touches in their own third but top four in Ligue 1 for touches in the opposition third, and top for crosses attempted."

Never got the fascination of playing the football in your own half, inviting pressure. Lose the ball in your own half and you have a strong chance of conceding a chance. Lose the ball in the opposition's half and they've still got work to do to create a chance. Simple really. Get the ball up the pitch quickly and in the opposition half, and then keep the possession in their half, if you must apply such a system.

We've rarely crossed the ball and put it in the danger zone/the "corridor of uncertainty" in the last two years as well. We probably won't have Onuachu next season, but could suit Stewart's game if he remains fit.

Any good appointment

That’s Emma Sanders who works for BBC.

Confusing I know.

I liked the comment from WS that got a reading on TSP too

‘If we’re not winning games, I don’t care about styles of play, I don’t care about ‘my philosophy’ - I just want to win. I will change the team and change my tactics to win.'

I’m trying not to pre judge this and give the guy a chance, but it’s fucking difficult. A cross between Ron Weasley & Mathew Le God, who is bringing his no mark brothers with him, isn’t exactly making me positive about this appointment. Let’s see how it goes, hopefully he’ll surprise me….

Taking the piss out of someone for having ginger hair is incredibly weird behaviour

He’ll probably change his profile picture to a wotsit or something when it’s confirmed. Weird bloke.

Makes sense. I kind of assumed a formal announcement would likely happen on the Monday (or Tuesday) after the final game, but with him in the stands on Sunday to let everyone know what's happening

Playing it among the defence you are invariably having your least technically gifted players having the majority of the ball. It's madness.

Thats the spirit ducky, optimism until reality proves us wrong.

Ive no issues about his brothers as they know exactly what he wants, how to train and how he thinks, plus they played foodball manager so they are fully qualified.

Am far more interested in Still than Rohl. I think Still's going to work out for us. Rohl never really seemed viable to me, just a feeling that he thought we were beneath him. He would not have been in the conversation for the fact that he was here before.

Should be the minimum requirement unless you’re an arrogant know-all prick like Martin.

Sounds all good, much better than that possession based football Martin insisted on, be interesting who he insists stays and who he wants gone. He will inherit a pretty good Championship side but for his high press to work he will need to get them 200% fitter than what they were this season, he needs young legs but maybe a few older wiser heads in their as well, be interesting how it all works out and if any of our so called stars would stay under a pretty unknown manager.

Have you tried looking beyond the ginger hair and football manager bit? That would help and you'd come across less weird.

If he shaved his head, wore a dirty vest covered in baked bean stains and shouted, “get it in the f**king mixer,” a lot, might you find it easier?

Probably more scar tissue next season too. Rusk certainly hasn’t started to rid the side of this pointless and toothless possession style.

Posting correct link after MLG messed his up.

Laurens definitely positive on him and addresses most of the concerns raised on here.

Certainly worth a listen from someone who knows a bit more about Still.

We had an idea really as I remember plenty of Swansea fans stating that his football style was a bit dull and possession based.

Jack Rosser's full report in The Sun:

SOUTHAMPTON hope to appoint Will Still as their new manager this week.

Saints have held extensive talks with the 32-year-old, who is leaving French club Lens and wants to be closer to family in England

Still has agreed terms on a contract, and the south coast side hope he will be confirmed in time to attend their final Premier League game of the season. Saints, who were relegated in early April, host Arsenal on the final day of the season this weekend.

The club also held talks with Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl.

Rohl had been the No1 choice for some time, but wants to take more time to make a decision over his future. The German, a former assistant manager to Ralph Hasenhuttl at St. Mary's, has interest from his home country which could prove more attractive than a Championship job.

Saints were reluctant to be left waiting and moved quickly to land Still, who has also managed Reims in Ligue 1 as well as Lierse and Beerschot in Belgium.

Lens are not owed any compensation should Still leave, though the same cannot be said for his coaching staff, which include brothers Edward and Nicolas. Talks over compensation for his coaching staff are ongoing and remain the only sticking point before the appointment can be confirmed.

Will he still be standing as our coach come the end of next season's successful championship which sees us at the pinnacle of the table ready to get back to our rightful top tier level?  Better than he ever did before.

Can't moan at the club regarding Rohl. If he's not sure on coming here then he can do one.

Imagine if we waited on him, he decided to go elsewhere and in the meantime time missed out on Still as well. The club would be getting pelters.
