HarvSFC Posted yesterday at 16:48 Posted yesterday at 16:48 I like this line from the Echo: "Still's side are bottom half for touches in their own third but top four in Ligue 1 for touches in the opposition third, and top for crosses attempted." Never got the fascination of playing the football in your own half, inviting pressure. Lose the ball in your own half and you have a strong chance of conceding a chance. Lose the ball in the opposition's half and they've still got work to do to create a chance. Simple really. Get the ball up the pitch quickly and in the opposition half, and then keep the possession in their half, if you must apply such a system. We've rarely crossed the ball and put it in the danger zone/the "corridor of uncertainty" in the last two years as well. We probably won't have Onuachu next season, but could suit Stewart's game if he remains fit. 13

Let’s see how it goes, hopefully he’ll surprise me…. 3 5

DrunkenSaint Posted yesterday at 17:41 Posted yesterday at 17:41 Sounds all good, much better than that possession based football Martin insisted on, be interesting who he insists stays and who he wants gone. He will inherit a pretty good Championship side but for his high press to work he will need to get them 200% fitter than what they were this season, he needs young legs but maybe a few older wiser heads in their as well, be interesting how it all works out and if any of our so called stars would stay under a pretty unknown manager. 1

CSA96 Posted yesterday at 18:29 Posted yesterday at 18:29 Jack Rosser's full report in The Sun: SOUTHAMPTON hope to appoint Will Still as their new manager this week. Saints have held extensive talks with the 32-year-old, who is leaving French club Lens and wants to be closer to family in England Still has agreed terms on a contract, and the south coast side hope he will be confirmed in time to attend their final Premier League game of the season. Saints, who were relegated in early April, host Arsenal on the final day of the season this weekend. The club also held talks with Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl. Rohl had been the No1 choice for some time, but wants to take more time to make a decision over his future. The German, a former assistant manager to Ralph Hasenhuttl at St. Mary's, has interest from his home country which could prove more attractive than a Championship job. Saints were reluctant to be left waiting and moved quickly to land Still, who has also managed Reims in Ligue 1 as well as Lierse and Beerschot in Belgium. Lens are not owed any compensation should Still leave, though the same cannot be said for his coaching staff, which include brothers Edward and Nicolas. Talks over compensation for his coaching staff are ongoing and remain the only sticking point before the appointment can be confirmed.
Daft Kerplunk Posted yesterday at 18:33 Posted yesterday at 18:33 Will he still be standing as our coach come the end of next season's successful championship which sees us at the pinnacle of the table ready to get back to our rightful top tier level? Better than he ever did before. 1

If he's not sure on coming here then he can do one. Imagine if we waited on him, he decided to go elsewhere and in the meantime time missed out on Still as well. The club would be getting pelters. 5
