Sunderland definitely showing our lot up a lot. Went up through the play-offs with a team that on paper looked weaker than our play-off winning team. Then they sold Jobe Bellingham. But, after that they made numerous signings around the £20m mark. They even signed one player for £30m, smashing our transfer record. Got a decent goalkeeper from Holland as well for £11.5m, so they do exist, you just need a good scouting team. Granit Xhaka was a smart buy for their Premier League experienced signing too. They also made eight of their signings before August. Giving their new signings a pre-season.

While, when we went up we were signing Adam Lallana, Charlie Taylor and Ryan Fraser on frees, Nathan Wood and Ronnie Edwards for small fees and Sugawara and Brereton-Diaz weren't that much either, while Cameron Archer was hardly an ambitious signing.

We were haggling over fees for Liam Delap, Matt O'Riley and Fabio Carvalho, while Sunderland were a lot more aggressive in the market. Identified a talent and signed him.

They did have a bigger margin to spend which helps. They started their rebuild a couple of seasons back and had a good core of young talent with some older wise heads, didn’t spend much until this season.

It seems easier to reset in league one, to help leap up to the premier league! 🤔

They do have a bigger squad now, so depending on where they are at end of the season will have to sell before buying.

I see Blackburn have said the following today about their abandoned game against Ipswich…

"We've got the right to want the three points because it's the fair thing to do, especially when the opponent is down to 10,"

Sadly, being down to 10 men isn’t an excuse we could reasonably use. I’m trying to remember the last time we actually won when our opponents had a player dismissed?

Game will be replayed surely, will be amazed if it isn't

They only had ten mins to go though. Over half an hour maybe, but ten mins against ten men.  Their manager would have to be a PE teacher to fuck that up.

I think it was 20 actually, it was abandoned around 70-71mins. The cut off for a 'replay of the remaining' is around 75 mins - I reckon they'll both be forced to replay the 90, but it'll happen next year because they'll spend the next few months arguing.

It's basically the equivalent of quitting Football Manager when you don't like a game, and reloading the save previous.

He's a richer man's Russell Martin. Hard to see where his career goes from here.

Another nice pay day for him to live off until his next gig - great job if you can get it, fail and not need to worry about paying the bills.

And you get free entry to games as a manager

How long was he out after Chelsea?  It seemed quite a long time. Another enforced sabbatical with a bit of TV work. Very nice.

Third manager to try and get a tune out of WHU squad, counterattacking football probably the best bet.

Brentford 3-1 Man United.

How on earth is Amorim still in the job.

Am I right in saying Amorim is yet to win back-to-back league games?

If they want a losng manager who is welded to a system, Martin must fancy his chances of aligning with Wilcox.

Need to launch a public inquiry immediately, this should not be possible,  I'm sure we were told on here last season it was a matter of time until Derby's record was broken

It makes me even more relieved that we managed to crawl to 12 points. That record will never, ever be beaten as it’s so pathetic. Well, not unless we somehow manage to get promoted again.

Tottenham equalise with Wolves in stoppage time. Collapsing at the last minute, that's a sign that a team is going down. Last year you just knew it was coming, every single week.

BBDs screamer from earlier today

I can't believe that's the same player we saw at SMS 😂

When he's given a quick attack to get space to run onto it, go central and shoot, that's what he's capable of.

We prefer to play as though we are walking through treacle, allowing teams to reset and shutting off that space.

I'm pleased for him. Just as we brought in some wide players, I was thinking it could be a boost for all of our forwards, BBD included. In about his last match for us, he had a couple of flashes. But his confidence in our set up was shot, and it was weighing on him.

I think pre-season I had Brentford and Wolves and the three promoted teams in the running to be going down.

I still think it’ll be the case.

West Ham will come better under Nuno.

Would be funny as to see Forest go down now having sacked Nuno for doing little wrong, and to wipe that grin off of Marinakis’ smug (and fat) face.

Clearly, unlike Russboy, they realised how fast and physical the PL would be 🙂

Amusingly ManU rumoured to be looking at Potter 😄

Mind you that's from a Spanish newspaper

Surely Jason Wilcox will be looking to poach Russell Martin.

Tino Livramento being stretchered off with what looks to be a bad knee injury 🫣

Personally had him down to go to the WC next summer as one of England's left backs. Hope it isn't too serious for his sake.

Everton v WHU, 4 ex saints involved. Matty and KWP playing, Charlie and Tyler on the bench. Not sure where JWP is. Everton looking good at the moment.

Everton leading, free header after total failure to stop a cross. KWP on a booking which not ideal trying to contain a revived Grealish. Somerville very dangerous and direct for West Ham, love watching players like him. Fernandes has been poor and caught ball watching defensively.

Hammers fans giving it to the owners - ‘Sully you’re a cunt’, ‘Sack the Board’. Better than our happy clappy dinlows did all of last season.
