Let's hope we can carry this momentum into Sunday, with Ipswich looking sluggish last night.

A promotion 6 pointer without doubt.

Fernandes must start

Went too early thinking of the attractive fixture.

Northampton cup match hasn't got as much sparkle, but got to give that one a glance first.

Sunday at 12, are we on TV again? What happened to the championship being better for 3 o clock Saturday fixtures 😂

Went out the window from last season.

Probably worth mentioning we’ve got a midweek trip to Northampton before we worry about this match….

Completely forgot about the cup match 😂

Tough fixture, I'd 100% take a draw if offered now, Tall Paul was our hero up there last season, need a similar smash and grab performance with a late winner

Definitely class it as a 6 pointer in context of the season

‐-----------Bazza----------

--Ed/Wood--Capn---Nigel-

Fraser--Charles-Fernanj-Manning

----Armstrong---Robinson----

---------Downs/Stewart-------

Or Fernandes in the Armstrong position and Downes next to Charles.

Or, instead of the two floaters, Fernandes behind a front two. We probably shouldn't expect Robinson to start every match just yet.

Actually, yeah...

-----------Bazza----------

--Ed/Wood--Capn---Nigel-

Fraser--Charles-Downes-Manning

-------------Fernandes----------

---Downs/Stewart----Armstrong--

Suck on that, Ipswich.

Still will want wingers because he likes to create wide overloads with his FBs

We'd better sign some then!

And we didn't really play with wingers yesterday.

He played with wide men though in JR and RF, his idea is basically for them to pull inside allowing for a pass on the overlap which is exactly how we scored the 2nd goal

But yeah wingers the wrong word to use really

Pressure is all on them. A win and we'd already be 5 points ahead of them.

With 132 to play for after this game I doubt that line of thinking will have even begun to cross anyone's mind.

Slightly tongue-in-cheek but to be 5 points ahead of one of our promotion rivals so early on would be a bit of a statement

I had actually forgotten the Ed Sheeran angle.  Good work.

Many years ago they bussed a load of Suffolk farmers down to try and intimidate Southampton dockers on flying picket duty in Portsmouth (late 70s).

Luckily, a good few of the dockers were more than handy and the carrot-sucking Neanderthal cunts got a good fucking kicking.

Which is exactly what we’re going to do to Ipswich next week.  2-0 win.  Write a melancholic song about that Ed you fucking boring cunt.

Wrexham could have scored 4 or 5 on Saturday with better finishing , we can't rely on that again

So could we have

0-0 if the keepers would’ve saved the shots

Three keepers wouldn’t have saved the free kick, Manning put that in the side-netting of the goal, no saving those. JWP would have been happy with that.

Or 2-1 if there was some Championship level finishing, and some Championship level goal keeping, combined with a bit of first day of the season rustiness and a screamer.

2-0 if you take away the penalty.

Point being our defending was shite at times, we conceded one not thanks to defending well but relied on them wasting very good opportunities

One of the rarer fixtures where my Norwich-supporting missus is a Saints fan. The other is whenever we play Liverpool, but that's not a rivalry, she just thinks they're a bunch of pricks. Not that she'd know what a prick looks like these days.

Any counsellors on here? 😁

The wheel prediction follows after our Northampton fixture. I know you're all riveted for it. :poundit:

Not really relevant though is it.  They had good chances that better finishing would have converted.  You can't really criticise any keeper for a shot that's blazed way over the bar or hits the top of the crossbar.

I wasn't criticising Baz - I was pointing out that Wrexham couldn't have scored a load of goals because our keeper only had one save to make.

Just because he only had one save, doesn't mean they didn't come close on other occasions. They hit the crossbar, for example.

Aren’t you the guy who despises XG btw?

Fwiw Saints XG was the best in the efl over the weekend so not sure ‘imagine how bad it would have been if chances were converted’ is the best argument for you to make. Wrexhams also reasonably high in comparison to most.

Had to check there if this was the Wrexham thread! 😉

This is going to be very telling about where we might be in terms of squad quality versus Ipswich who have re-strengthened well it seems. We’re still struggling to create and score in open play and that has to be an on-going concern for Still that Spors needs to address pronto. Bit of a pity this game has come so soon in the campaign, so a draw would be a good result all things considered. 2-2.

'Despise' is too mild a word.

As a certain lady nearly said, "Just rejoice in that result".

FWIW I thought that Wrexham created some gilt-edged chances. Was in Coady who put that cross over the bar from the six yard line? And  ‘imagine how bad it would have been if chances were converted' are not words that i used or a point that i was trying to make.

Understood, but the number of saves doesn't reflect the number of chances. It's one of the advantages of playing at a lower level than the Premier League.

Hmm, can imagine this forum being that pragmatic if we were 5 points behind them after the first 2 games ..... Not!

We’re winning this. 2-1.
Ipswich were well off it against Birmingham, they didn’t deserve a point from that game and could’ve easily been a few goals down had it not been for some horrific officiating.

Saints 2-1 win.

Manning with a second goal in as many games, and Cam Archer with a classic poachers goal near the end.
