the colonel Posted Thursday at 22:53 Posted Thursday at 22:53 I'd have Cortese back without question to put a bomb under he shite we have now. It wasn't his money but what he did have was ambition and vision. Something surely we lack today. 4
RedArmy Posted yesterday at 09:36 Posted yesterday at 09:36 If the choice was Cortese or Rasmus, i know who I’d be picking.

Noodles34 Posted yesterday at 12:17 Posted yesterday at 12:17 I was wondering the other day where would we be now if Markus had not sadly passed. Would he have carried on financing Cortese? Would he have got bored? Would he have sold to a skint chinaman? I think we’d be Bournemouth. 1 1 1

But then they could have foreseen that and have already built a 100,000 seater superdome at St Mary’s. It was just the luck of a Saints fan though to have had the club find a billionaire who seemed to genuinely love us and who was happy to spend his money on us, only for him to sadly die very prematurely. 3

I’ve got ambition & vision, I could make this club a success, no fucking problem. I’d be like Peter Risdale or Cortese, I’ll take us to heights unimaginable . I’ve got a great business plan, and bucket loads of self belief. I’m actually only missing one piece of the jigsaw, finding a mug to finance it… 1 1

Cortese was clearly high on the narcissist scale and his behaviour could well have soured their relationship after a while. Marcus didn’t spend a fortune on us but what money was spent was spent well at the time. Would he have been prepared to spend the kind of money to secure a long term successful run in the EPL? I may have got this wrong but I think that he said that it wouldn’t necessarily be a long term project for him? We will never know of course. What we do know though is that, if Cortese is a football genius, he seems to have escaped the attention of any football club seeking a genius CEO.

A lot of money was invested after his death.

He got through one single whole season finishing 14th then stropped off. Still he went off and mastermined taking Derby to where Bournemouth are now. Oh no, sorry Reading. No sorry Forest. No sorry fucking no one. Not one club anywhere in the world ever employed him ever again. What a fucking genius 😂 1

Thank god Kat got rid of Cortese then, seeing as how we finished higher than Bournemouth ever have 4 times, played in Europe twice (as opposed to none) & reached one more cup final than they have (which is again none). All since she took over. Terrible owner, I wish we were like Bournemouth, with that 9th place finish. Edited 12 hours ago by Lord Duckhunter 1

We were his baby and you wouldn’t swap your own child for another one. He loved us so much he could never feel that way about another club. That’s why he’s never worked in football again. 2
