If he has interviewed for the job, then he must hold some degree of wanting to come here. We wouldn’t “interview “ Rodger’s, he’d interview us. What planet are you on if you think he’s sitting there waiting for the result of his interview, hoping he’s impressed SR and will be given the chance to manage the mighty Southampton. IF, and it’s a fucking big it, appointed, it will because SR have sold the club & their ambition to him, not the other way round…. Edited 3 hours ago by Lord Duckhunter 10
Butthole_Surfer Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I would be totally fine with Brendan Rogers. Several of his teams played some nice attacking football. 3
DrSuess1979 Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Brendon Roger’s Steve Cooper Ralph id be happy with any of the above 4

I’d just be a bit concerned by the manner of his dismissals at Leicester and Celtic. But his CV stands up with many top managers and you’d like to think he’d have the gravitas to get our current lot into shape. I still stand by my original belief that Eckert will get the job though. Just seems like he was lined up for it to me. Which I think would be a really bad move. And I also don’t like the idea of managers being forced to use a coaching team they wouldn’t choose themselves. Most managers will have an expiry date for a club, hopefully this appointment will be longer than we recently have, however, I can’t see Eckert bucking the trend. We’re the new Watford! Only down side to Rogers is the team’s defence tend to be weak at set pieces and crosses. Generally good going forward though and I can see him getting this squad to perform better. 1
Willo of Whiteley Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago FootyInsider on Twitter just said Southampton are advancing in talks for GON. Take it with a pinch of salt as that account regularly spouts utter bollocks. 😂

Wade Garrett Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 4 hours ago, Sheaf Saint said: It would also be foolish to appoint the wrong person just for the sake of getting them in instantly. If waiting a while longer means we get a much better candidate in post (far from certain where SR are concerned, I acknowledge) then that is surely a better option. Respectfully, I disagree. We don’t have the luxury of time and lose against Charlton and everyone will be moaning that SR didn’t get the manager sorted. I will add, that although we won, albeit against two awful teams, we haven’t turned the corner regarding performances. The team doesn’t look the sum of its parts. The club have got away with using Eckert as an interim but I wouldn’t be pushing my luck if I was SR. 6 1

Le Tiss was saying something similar that you shouldn’t dwell too long on an interim manager. 3 weeks is ample time to find someone competent. Doesn’t sound like they have been listening to him.
Miltonaggro Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Tonto pictured emerging from Staplewood this afternoon after meeting with Ankersen. No wonder the odds are shortening… 1

Although I think he’s preference for getting to Newport was the Portsmouth to Ryde ferry so that might make him a skate bastard. I think a few would, but at the end of the day we are not going to please everyone. Someone the majority can get behind is the best we can hope for.
Holmes_and_Watson Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Arne Slot and Brenda Todgers invite you to the combined Saints Drag Night / Manager interview. 🙂
benjii Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Hmm.... seems like the bookies have some info on Farke. 1
Willo of Whiteley Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Giovanni van Bronckhorst. You heard it here first. £500 on it. Now watch the odds for him plummet. 😂
AlexLaw76 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I bet Russell Martin is getting twitchy right now that both Boro and Norwich are looking for a manager

saintwbu Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Two of GON’s former clubs looking for a manager now in Boro and Norwich, surely he ends up at one of them. Martin also in with a good shout of the Norwich job, not sure they’d grumble much at Farke returning either.

ecuk268 Posted 52 minutes ago Posted 52 minutes ago I'd give Viera a try. I was watching a talk with Charlie Austin talking about Ronald Koeman. He said that he had an aura and owned the room when he walked in. I think that Viera would be similar and command respect from everyone. Whelher he would want to come to a Championship club is another matter.
ErwinK1961 Posted 52 minutes ago Posted 52 minutes ago 3 hours ago, E_H_Saints said: My concern is there is no urgency to get this done. Could be wrong though. I could just see Saints not making a decision in this two weeks as they want to be thorough but then giving up the opportunity to start training the players how the manager wants to. Instead, they will be training like the under 21s and then when we finally have a manger it bill be pressure on as we will be in the run up to Xmas and the manager hardly has time in-between matches. However, I hope I'm wrong. Nathan Jones had the whole of the World Cup break to get across his style - we were shite. Will Still had a whole pre season to get across his style - we were shite. I’d rather they waited and got the right person than just appoint someone because they’ve got an international break to ‘get across their ideas’ - Poch and Ralph (as recent examples) didn’t seem to have an issue. 5

The only other piece of knowledge I have at this point is that Spors personal preference is to appoint Tonda , but that’s not the preference of others involved in making the decision. If I get any more snippets I’ll let everyone know, hoping to hear more this week. Edited 43 minutes ago by Mboto Gorge 1
