Give it up for the eliminator of Everton

the true pride of Wales who shied from the comfortable path of a PE teacher in a mining town

Tactics willed by God, only undone by ten men

The man who single-handedly stopped Guardiola's City from achieving the quadruple

Gone too long but finally back..

NATHAN JONES!!!!!!!

Statistically one of the top 5 managers in Europe v the Sports Republic Golden Child, the heir to the throne. The guy to finally guide saints to the greatest era in our history.

It's a heavyweight clash alright

The Rumble in the Jungle

The Thriller in Manila

The Brawl in Montreal

Glory isn't given, its earned

Nathan Jones 1-1 Southampton

(I imagine it’ll be all about him in the build up to the game).

Think I'm happy for Nathan to take all the attention pre-match.

Saturday 12.30 games often feel quite flat, can see this being a 0-0 or 1-1

Do Charlton have many away on international duty?

Bobby Charlton, Jackie Charlton, my highschool biology teacher Miss Charlton, Charlton Heston...you boys will take one hell of a beating!

This is the era of Spor(t)s Republic. I think the line for this should be:

Two weeks of dither and dally before the Valley.

These next 2 games will be the proper test for Tonda.

I’m expecting us to get battered in all manners in both games & then it’ll be panic stations again for the new manager.   Absolutely Criminal that they haven’t sorted this out yet - but it’s no surprise given everything they’ve done so far.

Truly hope I’m wrong & we see some fight & spirit

5 at the back. Armstrong down the middle. Fellows at wing back. THB and Stephens playing keepball. What's not to be excited about?

Don’t forget Baz in goal

If Jones has an ounce of sense he will know that a relentless high press will unsettle the team and serve up a calamity goal on a plate. He’ll know that allowing Baz/THB/Stephens/Manning/Downes to fanny around with the ball will not provide a threat atall - neutralise the transition forward in the first half and it’s game over. Let’s not forget where they sit in the table compared to us - any talk of a win is verging on the optimistic. Having said that, if Tonda gets his act together and the squad responds, we can win this. More likely 1-1.

Lets get ready to rumble!

We are going to win.

FFS... Note to self: don't take a sip of coffee just before reading optimistic posts on the Saintsweb forum!

Hard to know how we will cope playing against a team managed by one of the fittest humans in history and pound for pound best manager on the planet.

Dont think we’ll get near them. 2-0 defeat.

Saints rarely take advantage of an injured opposition player or even half a first team!

Not an injury.

You could be right. Mad Nate will have Charlton right up for it and we never beat Leicester.

What if Saints should win? Will the froth be a different colour, who will he blame? Three points would be nice but watching that would be even better!

Charlton 0-1 Saints. Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way oh what fun it is to see Southampton win away, oi.

I'll be on the coach up so hope to get in ground early to see Saints shooting practice before KO. I'll know then if the 5 to 8 low block and score on the break will work.

DD to score in 95th minute...

Ive always liked Charlton.  Good club and decent set of supporters. Its amazing how one man can make me despise them. Hes just such a cock.

I fear Saturday will be a reality check for the total cunts running our club who think that beating 2 truly shit teams makes the caretaker manager a credible candidate for the job full-time.

I really don’t give a fuck these days.

You do.  Like a lot of us though you get worn down by the SR dead ends and blind alleys.

I'm hoping Charlton will be disrupted with Bree being unavailable, they also have a couple of players away on international duty with Jamaica who play a world cup qualifier in the early hours of Wednesday morning, clutching at straws here but could give us a chance.

I can't remember ever seeing us win at The Valley, similar to Bristol City and Blackburn it's a ground that for whatever reason we just have a poor record, lots of draws though. Last win away to Charlton was 89/90 season when they were playing at Selhurst Park!

Interestingly network rail have closed lines between Southampton and London Waterloo on saturday. Most (not all)  Southampton to London journeys require a change at Fratton on the day Pompey are at home to Millwall. Genius organisation.

Sorry that's not correct.

Line is closed in Woking area but there are direct trains from Southampton to Waterloo, trains diverted via Havant but you don't need to change at Fratton.

Depending on where you start the journey could be worth taking cross country train to Reading and into Paddington from there, quick route.

If going direct this looks best

There are engineering works almost every weekend affecting Eastleigh junction. Eastleigh via Reading,  Winchester!!

Apologies, i stand corrected. There are a couple of trains that you don't have to change (via Havant) but most require changes which could cause people issues. I guess my point here is that its worth planning your moves in advance as its a ball ache due to closure in the Woking area.
