Get very nostalgic watching it, so lucky to have grown up seeing his whole career when i was able to go to games most weeks

Watched it myself recently, it's certainly nostalgic!

It's not aged particularly well, but the goals of course are timeless!

Brings back some great memories! Used to watch it on repeat, can't remember if it was on VHS or if DVDs were out by then..... 

As you say we are very lucky to have been able to watch a player like him at our club! I'll definitely be giving that another watch

Same, in a box in my garage with other boxes of stuff that I boxed up when I left home in 1997 or so - probably wouldn't work now.

Likewise. Not watched it for a long long time...not having a video player hasn't helped. The number of amazing goals is just ridiculous. Unbelievable in fact. I know 93-95 were his stand out seasons, but I love watching his goals from when he was younger. That 89-90 season was bloody brilliant.

agreed. What always amazed me about his shots were the finesse. It was like watching a top golfer, never seemed to smash it, always looked so relaxed and effortless but the power he generated made a lot of shots unstoppable.

I was in Junior Saints then as well, not got the certificate anymore but I do have a box of programmes from that time with Matt signature on most of them

Down south recently, talking to my mate (for decades) and he apparently is mate of his. He was at some golf do or something, stood next to him, built up his courage to talk to him and apparently you genuinely wouldn't know he is famous or was a top level talented professional footballer. He's really ordinary and he plays golf with him occassionally, chats to him.....fair enough I say.

for 2-3 years when he was at his peak he was the best player in the country and one of the best in the world. He was scoring 20+ goals a season in a pretty shit team and a good percentage of them were goals of real quality, he didn't score many tap ins did he.

Loved the guy then and still do now as most fans of my generation will. So many memories and stand out goals. He was an absolute football genius. Fuck knows how much he would be worth if he was playing now.

Yes, nostalgia alert! I'm sure I kept mine. Bought it at a signing at, I think, Oxford St HMV where there were a fair few Saints and others fans even though in London. Well excited to meet him that day.

That early hattrick against Norwich inc that ridiculous goal where he goes past 3 or 4 midfielders and fades a low shot in off the far post. Absolutely world class brilliance.

I think i said goodbye to my VHS copy when we cleared out my old Mum's house a couple of years back. 

Will be watching that on Prime this weekend for sure. 

As well as the goals will be nice to hear again Statto from Fantasy League doing the commentary pretending he was at the games live 😂

Our usual spot was at the front, pretty much dead centre behind the goal. My mate always brought an inflatable banana with him. You can clearly see it in the Liverpool game when we beat them 4-1.

That's Xavi, he's a great admirer of MLT. Matt did an'evening with' at the Mayflower a few years ago and Xavi did a short film praising him which they showed on a screen.

Never got to see him in his younger years, and invariably good highlights are hard to come by - but watching that its clear that he really was some player even as a teenager! A talent as good as that at 17 would've got Rooney levels of hype in today's world.
