With Aribo now thankfully disappearing from the matchday squads and Edozie giving his "I'll be playing again soon" hints, are they gone yet? I do think Edozie could still be a good player for us, but has been messed around a lot and obviously both been told they would be moving on and yet haven't found a club. Puts us in a bad position, only likely to make the bare minimum on the players, but in the meantime probably eating up a large chunk of salary for doing nothing (see also Stewart, Long, Downs etc).

In what way has Edozie been messed around ?

It seems he had the chance to go to Belgium but chose not to. We’ll never know if he was told “fuck off , you’ll not play for us again” or if he chose to stay and sit on his arse. Seems like his choice to me.

In the sense that he has been shifted out on loan to Belgium last year, and then not been included at all this year, whilst other lesser players have been. You could be right that he said he didnt want to be here, but he did post things about being close to and excited about a move in the summer for it to then fall through, rather than him just simply rejecting anything to sit around not playing. I'm sure after last year he would've been keen to move after being moved out a bit quick, and seeing his replacements in no hopers Brereton-Diaz and Cornet!

Saw that Kelv Davis’ son is returning to Saints following loan. Is he a striker?

He is a right back, and is not remotely close to being good enough for our first team. He is heading ouf on loan again to Chelmsford in the National League South.

Sounds exactly like the kind of person we want around the club. 🙄

Straight out of The Art of Transfers by Sadio Mane.
(Forward written by Virgil Van Dyke)

No one was concerned about Mane spitting his dummy out at his previous club as I recall, but seething at VVD a few years later. Spoilt twats the lot of them

So according to German media it seems that the situation with Peretz is:

- He’s a Bayern player

- He’s been on loan at Hamburg but hasn’t played

- Bayern want to terminate the loan, recall him and then loan him to us

- The player really wants the move

- Hamburg originally agreed to it but have now put the brakes on terminating the loan until they’ve brought in a replacement who can take over as their no. 2

- The player didn’t report for training at Hamburg, but the coach said this wasn’t related to the situation and was because a flight was cancelled which was outside his control

So it’s gone from a ‘done deal’, to now being dependent on Hamburg signing someone else or changing their stance.

Yes, someone beat you to it above. If the player is not ‘remotely close’ to being a part of our first team it begs the question why he’s an employee of the club. Presumably as a favour for his Dad. This seems a somewhat strange aspect of the clubs football operation - a small point, but perhaps indicative of the unfocused shambles at senior management level we’ve been witnessing for years under SR.

No club has every academy player be good enough for the 1st team. The vast majority would make it, with many going into non league. That doesn't mean there isn't a good reason for them to be at the club. You never know for certain how they will develop. Plus we need the academy team to have enough players in their squads, some will be squad filler so that we can play games.

Is that because he’s seen our last few games?

Really? And there was us thinking every single player in the academy set up signs a pro deal at their club. Thanks for clarifying 👍

Ok, the January transfer window is open. Go out and buy some big fucking shithouse units who can run and don't get blown over by a puff of wind. Maybe then we won't have to play 3 fucking centre backs and wing backs who aren't really wing backs. Club is a complete joke.

Keeper

Left footed aggressive centre back.

An attacker of sorts who can get us up the pitch, win fouls, throw ins and 50/50's when under pressure and someone to target in the box.

Until then it'll be the same.

I don't want them to spend any more money. I fear for the future of this club financially, as failing to get PL after spending £55m will equal disaster - so I don't want us to add to that, we've got enough damage to navigate. We're never getting promoted under this lot.

Is the centre back you’re after going to be more suited to a back 5 or back 4?

It shouldn't matter, should be able to do both.

Yeah given where we are in the table the loan keeper should be it.

leave everything else to the summer.

We could just sign a full back as could be cheaper and then get them to play as a centre back instead. At the level we’re at, they should be able to play all positions.

Why do they have to be left footed? They could start with just being competent, that would be an immediate upgrade.

Anyone remember Jaidi, Lovren, van Dijk, Yoshida. All right footed and predominantly played on the left side.

Manning definitely needs to be replaced, whether from inside or outside the club. One of the worst defenders I have had the displeasure to watch.

It would allow quicker release of passes to the left side of the pitch, like Scienza. You're right though, that's a secondary part.

People said this last January and the results just got worse. Apathy is the worst thing that can be done and it starts at the top.

I don’t think it makes a blind bit of difference.

As long as we have the same GK, the same formation - the incompetencies in defence, the non existence of midfield meaning a lack of attacking threat, and the majority of dross continuing to start (Manning, Stephens etc) things won’t change.

Good results have to stem from the top down.
The hierarchy is a shitshow.
I do know because I know of someone close to the club.
It’s a mess.

It’s not a surprise.

Well I made £17.50 betting against Saints today. Boro win, Manning card, Whittaker scorer, over 2 goals 😂

Easy money every week betting against Saints
