The Kraken Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Laughably bad. The panel on the back is quite apt as it somehow makes it look even worse. It’s a shame the shorts and socks are plain blue, as having that pattern run all the way through really would be quite something. I reckon it’ll be quite popular with kids, if any adult thinks of getting it they need their head seeing to. 1

Toussaint Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I think it’s good, I like it. The panel on the back won’t be so intrusive with the name and number on it. 1
Scummer Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 4 minutes ago, Badger said: How many shirts on here have shown this is not the case ??? From what I've read, the basic rule is that the name and number need to be easily readable. If you have stripes, you either need a plain back or you stick a square on the back. The exception to this is if the two colours of your stripes are similar in the colour spectrum, and they have ways of measuring this. I think this is why Bournemouth wouldn't need a plain back, as the contrast between a dark red and black isn't too bad. Blue and black stripes would be the same. Some clubs get round this by having a different kit for the players and supporters, but I suspect this gets quite complicated as a lot of fans want names and numbers on their shirts
Maggie May Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago No lie, I’ve just seen you can buy it in 6XL from the club shop. Surely that’s a tifo? 2

And white on the away shirt shouldn’t need a plain back. Sunderland and Sheff Weds are both shown on this thread as having striped backs, but we’ll have to see what they look like on taking to the pitch. For me it’s quite straightforward, stripes on the shirt front and back. Or abandon stripes and go for the Rank Xerox, Halves and occasionally the sash. 1
Saint_clark Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Only nice thing I can say is the badge looks smart in monochrome like that.

Back when we were in the Europa League there was definitely a UEFA rule with a colour contrast formula. More recently we're rigidly stuck to plain backs whilst others in the same league with similar stripes haven't always done the same. Off the back of Parsons comments last night I had a very quick scan of the EFL handbook and couldn't see anything specific, but a google search through up this line from Stoke's kit launch this year: "Supporters will notice that, in response to strong supporter feedback and to prepare for upcoming EFL regulation changes, merchandise shirts feature fully striped backs whereas players' shirts will comprise a plain panel, enhancing visibility of names and numbers for supporters, officials, and broadcasters on matchdays." So looks like they're may be something more formal for the EFL coming.

Turkish Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Its a shitter version of this one from the early 90s isnt it 1
Mozz Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I suspect as part of a complete kit with the plain shorts/socks and name/number the back won't look too bad, but as a plain shirt on it's own the back is absolutely honking.
Suhari Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago That is absolutely fucking woeful. Makes me want to puke.

How many shirts on here have shown this is not the case ??? Zero shirts, because there is a clear rule. If you are a cielab nerd, it comes down to the L difference between the stripe colours. If it is a delta of 25 or more, you can't overlay the numbers onto the stripes. Basically, if we keep red, the contrasting stripe also needs to be a dark colour. That's why Bournemouth, inter Milan etc can get away with it, but we cannot.

Disco Stu Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago We're going to win the league! And we're going to look awful doing it. 2
RedArmy Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago If we win the league it’ll be everyone’s favourite away kit ever. Not sure why it needed a plain back though.

beatlesaint Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago If they had made it yellow with some swirly blue stuff going on they may just have gotten away with it…….but this is fkin shambolic and I predict the sales of the third kit will dwarf the sales of this thing.

goodymatt Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I’ve canvassed opinion of friends and family and everyone but the Wife thinks it is horrendous. I can’t think of a worse kit in my time supporting Saints, I disliked the Under Armour era but nothing beats this for me.
Saint Garrett Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) It's still absolutely honking, but yellow & blue improves it slightly... We've had some awful away kits in recent years... Edited 1 hour ago by Saint Garrett

Themotherfunky Posted 50 minutes ago Posted 50 minutes ago Any idea when the Puma contract is up? Aside from the FA cup one last year, and the third this year..the kits have been mostly misses. While it wouldn't necessarily bring as much money in from an initial deal perspective, I'd prefer us to go with the slightly lesser brands that seem to put more time and effort into the kits. The likes of Hummel, Macron, Joma, Kappa. Rather than the copy and paste kits that the big brands seem to do. Especially if they're going to charge £65 a pop. 1
Ken Tone Posted 44 minutes ago Posted 44 minutes ago I'm way too old to wear replica shirts...... would clash with my rattle and bobble hat 😉... so don't really care about what the shirt looks like. But surely it's a mistake not to stick to a predominantly yellow away kit? Some of the best away support we've had has been whilst shouting "yellows, yellows... " from the Cardiff cup final onwards.
StrangelyBrown Posted 37 minutes ago Posted 37 minutes ago Probably the worst shirt in recent memory and there have been some stinkers in recent times. If only the club. Had gone for something yellow... What a missed opportunity

Farmer Saint Posted 15 minutes ago Posted 15 minutes ago I love it, mainly because it's pissed off a large group of GROWN MEN who shouldn't be wearing football shirts anyway.
