Still goes missing too often. This is just what you have to accept with players such as Azaz, it's very similar to how Tadic was perceived by some fans during his time here. They will go missing, they won't always be in the game, but they'll have moments in the game which can potentially change it up through a bit of imagination or forward skill. These players don't run at that output 90mins a game, but you play them and get them into as much space as possible, because they have more chance of doing it than others. 7

Very good championship player but wouldn't make it in the Prem, and as such i'd rate Scienza and Jander above him. Tricky call I think,he’s a strange player is our Azaz some of his vision and passing is actually top draw, take that curling long pass he played last match for fellows to run onto, that was so good Glenn hoddle would of been proud of it ..yet other elements of his game are more championship level he probably doesn’t have the touch and trickery to be a world beater but his vision and ability to unlock a defence would still be there in the premiership Edited February 4 by pimpin4rizeal

Indeed, having some bell (bound to be a poster on here!) behind me constantly berating Tadic still rings in my ears. Anyway, for me, Azaz is an excellent player, and after a difficult start (not just for him) we’re really seeing that now. Playing him as a 10 has also helped. Last game he was popping up all over the place, finding space, coming short, getting in the box, time on the ball for those killer passes etc. With Fellows and Leo wide, we should, hopefully be seeing a lot more chances and goals. Here’s hoping anyway. 2
stfrancisofbenali Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Finn Azaz is undeniably a technically talented footballer, but when you’re in the trenches fighting for every point he goes missing and doesn’t put his body on the line. He’s a luxury player, with poor physicality and I’m not sure at this stage of the season that’s what we need. Charles in the 10 with Downes and Jander 6 and 8 for the run-in please.
BarberSaint Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Actually he does work hard at times but really isn't that good of a player. Wouldn't see him doing well in the league above which is the measure we should use as that's where we want to be. 2
Tommy Mulgrew Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago Brave post; I’m inclined to agree with your assessment of Azaz. He seems too slow in mind and body for a top Championship team. (He’d be blown away in the EPL.) Compound that with an almost complete lack of physicality and he becomes a most frustrating player. Despite his good eye for a through ball, I’d limit his minutes for the rest of the season: 60 or so minutes per game, not 90. Not sure that Charles is right as his replacement but It’s worth a try. We don’t really have another natural 10, imo. Perhaps Leo could move to a central role if Edozie continues to do well out wide. But any change to our present set-up is a huge risk while we continue to string along a play-off chasing run. 1

I see Charles as a completely different type of midfield player to Azaz, I don’t see him as a replacement. I view Shea as a powerful box to box midfielder, with strong defensive ability and decent physicality. The goal he scored against Leicester shows potential that the attacking side of his game can improve as he gets more experience but he doesn’t possess the defence splitting passing skills that Azaz does. Azaz isn’t perfect but I think he’s a good player at the Championship level and we are a better side with him in the team. He can go missing at times but that is often the way with his style of player. Azaz is the only player we currently have that can knit the attack together and play the incisive passes that break defences. 1
Wade Garrett Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Agree that Charles is box to box. Wouldn’t play him in the 10 going by yesterday. He gave the ball away far too often.

If we drop or rest Azaz, then Jander seems more suited to playing an advanced role. Charles much better defensively, or as you say box to box. 1
pimpin4rizeal Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago (edited) I think the thing with azaz is he’s a kinda average player in general but possesses some outstanding attributes like his through balls and vision if he was a fifa player you would probably give him low stats for everything and 90 for passing and vision.. Also think he’s at his best when the opponents are not playing a low block like charlton did what he does exceptionally well is to split defences with through balls to run onto but when there is no space in behind it kinda nullifies his game. I don’t mean this to sound too negative on him as what he does do well I think would even work well at higher level some of his passes and through balls are weighted to perfection so he is always a great player to have Edited 5 hours ago by pimpin4rizeal 1
