Tonda Presser….

  • Not preparing too much differently for the playoffs, does not require anything new
  • Nice to have the week to prepare
  • Does not hurt that Flynn is back, he was getting better and better before the suspension
  • He will as fresh as you can be this part of the season
  • Previous playoff experience can help up, the emotions, feelings and pressures
  • We have good experience with all other players though
  • We are a very different team compared to when we played Boro last
  • Now we are in the part of the season we don’t look back
  • It does not matter for previous games now
  • We need to focus on the job, not look forward not look back, just the next game
  • Earlier of the season was not easy for Flynn as he was unwell
  • The recent performances are a credit to him, he has been adjusting his habits and diets to get right
  • I have a very clear opinion on suspensions and would rather he was available previously
  • He will no doubt play a big part
  • Positive that we will have a full squad for the playoffs, with Jack and Matsuki available
  • We have not lost away since Boro away, but the process started before that game
  • We prepare, recover, train and live daily very well and it started before Jan
  • There have been bumps along with the way but the focus to keep going is there
  • We approach games slightly differently home v away. Sometimes it does make a difference
  • Team can feed off the energy of their home fans.
  • It is a quick turnover for us between the games
  • We do not approach games to draw, we play to win and will do everything to win
  • Boro are clear in the way they approach the game, if they catch a good day and flow they are a good team
  • We come from some good weeks and month and we must again show our strengths on the pitch
  • Maybe we play 2 strikers, maybe we don’t, maybe we need the size up front. We play on Sat with the best chance to win
  • We then go into the next game for the best chance to win. We don’t plan ahead
  • It is not about me and a new contract, there is only 1 thing we have done and that is staying focused on the job
  • We have a couple of meetings during the week, but we will not do this every day, one of the meetings will be about the playoff experience
  • Some players have not played in playoffs before but have played in front of big crowds in big games
  • We play against a very good side and we have to be at our very best
  • If we are I am sure we will compete
  • It is not just their front 3 that are dangerous, they set up for possession and high press
  • Once they get into the final 3rd, they are good.
  • We accept they have quality and we must defend and be brave
  • I do not want to go into detail about the last game up there
  • The whole football club in general is very different now, everything is different
  • The environment is different as we changed it all
  • There was not big event, or the transfer window, but lots of hard work
  • Hopefully the supporters are with us, and hope we do not need to look back
  • So happy to have Ben Garner around. He has been part of the changes.
  • I have done many years as the assistant so know the role, and it is very nice to have someone like him as he has been a manager also
  • He loves the game and prepares with lots of detail
  • Cyle has been massive for us, and it is up to Spors if he joins permanently
  • His composure and steadiness are great and we all very happy to have him here
  • We are constantly preparing for the future, this is not new but it is ongoing
  • We prepare for 2 scenarios, prepare for each direction, but that has been ongoing for months
  • We were always playing for promotion
  • Everything is different compared to my time are Barnsley
  • It was special there, but it was during covid so it was all empty
  • We have embraced the pressure, I have never looked away from it, Fulham away, Arsenal, City.
  • We embrace it all
  • No battle for Finn against their fans. He is so dedicated and drive for Southampton
  • You will rarely find a player like him who dedicates his life to succeed here
  • We go there to win and he is no different
  • McCarthy bac on the pitch and improving for him
  • Couple more games to play so we will see where he is
  • Very positive Jack and Matsuki will be available, very good sessions from them today.

Cheers pt1 and pt2 together!

Still saying exclusive access (rather than unavailable) even though meant to be on sale to members at 11

yes that's me too

Surprised it got to members, especially considering the early 25/23/22/21 aways windows. Anyway I got one, there are 75 or so left I'd say

It's a long old trip at short notice, you really need to take 2/3 days unless you want a mega early start and 10+hours of driving in one day

I think I have benefited from the club making it so hard to get the tickets. If on Monday they’d put them out to ST holders plus 10 aways they would have sold them quicker and I doubt it would have got to members at all (like Cov away for example).

They left  it too long so people couldn’t plan for a long drive.

I’m a 2 hour drive away so I knew I could get there short notice, it was only today I realised I had a chance.

It is now, yeah.

0-0 first leg, 0-0 second leg. Saints win on Penalties in the second leg.

...would be the worst outcome that could see us through. I think it'll be more exciting than that though. Although as long as we reach the final, I'd take the double Nil Nil situation.

I see Boro are going to be lining the streets at 10.30am with flairs to welcome their team.

Hope no knob tries to lob a brick at our team coach.

They are expecting him to be on the bench.....

We better have Romeu on the bench and have him just stare at Hackney. Every time he goes to warm up, Oriel is there man marking him. He'll shit his pants.

Assuming we’re in yellow again? Black haa been a fairly lucky colour at Boro for us over the years.

To be honest playing the north east has been fairly unlucky for us over the years, the shirt colour doesn't generally make a difference.

Looking forward to sampling the renowned Middlesbrough hospitality on the Friday night, should be cheap at least.

As for the football, feeling tense

That’s nothing to do with creating an atmosphere, it’s just to give the coach driver a bit of a clue making his way through the smog.

Time to finally get our revenge for that 2-2 comeback draw in 2004, Redknapp's first game.

Remember that game. Strangely though when I think about it, it isn’t Middlesbrough who come to mind as the villain or character who rankle me most.

True perhaps, but we went top of the old First Division for the first time in our history after winning at Ayresome Park ( Jan 1982)

They’ve also had to tweet out and beg for support whereas we just turned up in numbers 😂

Boro Forum claiming we were caught spying on their training session this morning. I find it difficult to believe a spy could see them through all that smog. 😀

Little do they realise we have Tonda, and Tonda has been studying them for months, same as the preparation he puts in with any opponent.

Daily Mail:

Middlesbrough have caught what is thought to be a Southampton first-team analyst allegedly recording their training session from a bush, in a sensational repeat of the Marcelo Bielsa ‘spygate’ furore.

Daily Mail Sport can reveal that an individual was spotted and approached by club staff on Thursday morning at Boro’s Rockliffe Park training centre, 48 hours before Kim Hellberg’s side host Tonda Eckert's Saints in the Championship play-off semi-final first leg.

It is claimed the male deleted video and pictures from his mobile phone and refused to identify himself. He then left the site of the training ground and made his way into the nearby Rockliffe Hall Hotel, owned by Boro chairman Steve Gibson, before changing clothes in a toilet and leaving the area. It is understood Boro have contacted the EFL, given spying on opposition training would breach the League’s rules.

We are aware of the individual allegedly involved and his public profile pages identify him as a current employee of Southampton.
