Club have royally fucked up. Sack everyone involved. Fans suffer, players suffer. This has come as a massive surprise.

The appeal has already gone in and we could be punished further if it fails. Decision is tomorrow with 3 new members of the committee. But I don’t see us getting our spot back in the final,

The club will be paying out a lot of money to us fans. I can see this rumbling on for months.

Good to see the forum can cope though. 🙄

Stunned they've reached that decision.

Obviously, we're not privvy to the evidence reviewed.

Seems completely disproportionate, if it was a one off.

Apparently not.

Has to be. Club is simply not supportable whilst they own the club.

Every single person who was involved in this needs to be given their marching orders.

If we're guilty of doing this to multiple clubs then why are Boro the only ones to benefit from the ruling?

I think the right to appeal will stop any consideration of us being thrown out, the appeal would take months, EFL fine us and behind closed doors we cut a deal with Middlesbrough without admitting anything.

Also due to the fact this was on private land and Middlesbrough had no fences around their site at Rockcliffe Hall could some Philidelphia lawyer find caveats and holes in the rules?

Doesn't detract from the alleged charges of course, but merely giving the best defence against said charges.

A complete fuck fest in Southampton style. The penalty is way beyond the crime. 48 games no wins from the games spied on, Middlesbrough roundly beaten in playoffs and shocker of a result today.

the penalty lies with the fans and the players…. Again. Punish the owners with whatever you want if they have done wrong but the sporting result is the sporting result

This is a shocker. Everyone connected with the cheating needs to be sacked. Get them out. We’re going to be sued by Wrexham and god knows who else. Wrexham have a very good shout on this. We should never have been in the playoffs based on this decision. Amazing that the extra charges levied on Sunday never got out.

Don't wanna be "that guy" but a lot of people repeatedly laughed at me and called me mental for saying this was clearly still a real possibility. Lots of people on here laughing at Boro for being in an echo chamber without realising this place had become one itself.

Hands up. I really didn’t believe that the punishment would be this harsh, even when you throw in the other two we admitted to it is nothing like the breach of the rules by those taking the piss out of the financial rules. Our attempt to spy on Middlesbrough was amateurish and ridiculous. This punishment is even more ridiculous. It is in no way proportionate to a “crime” so unimportant that few if any other leagues in the world have it. Do what we did at 73 hours, no problem. An hour later and you get one of the biggest punishments in football history. Beyond ridiculous.

To say I'm shocked by this is an understatement, I'll firstly say I feel the punishment is ridiculous in severity - has there been a heavier punishment in football, ever? (aside from Juventus and maybe Rangers) We haven't killed anyone, we haven't bribed anyone, we haven't partaken in match fixing, we haven't fielded ineligible players. This just feels so harsh in the context of everything else going on, and to come to this decision just 4 days out from the match day shows total disrespect to all fans and players - not just our fans, but Hull's and Boro's too - the EFL released more tickets to us just this morning.

I'm not saying we haven't been dumb, we have - more on my disgust with that below, but comparing this against Leeds equal offence and it just feels too extreme to me. I appreciate this spying rule wasn't in place when Leeds admitted the offences, but does this new rule really equal expulsion and a points deduction? It feels as they've tried to make an example out of us, and as we don't have the profile of Leeds or Bielsa they can stamp on us.

Onto what we've done, I don't think I can really put into words how disgusted, hurt and betrayed I am by the club I've always supported. I thought it was a one off, a kid going rouge with an IPhone at Boro - embarrassing, noddy for sure, but to then read we've done it on other occasions has just made my blood boil, as this has clearly been systemic which I didn't believe would be the case.

I'd suggest those 3 are the tip of the iceberg, this may prompt other clubs to bring things forward. The entirety of 2026 is now fake, including the FA Cup run - I'm sure we can work out why it turned around so dramatically. We had a good team all season, we spent £55m on it - why did we feel we needed to try and glean an extra miniscule advantage against Oxford for example? Is everyone at the club so clueless that they literally needed everything spoon-fed on a platter? Seemingly so, yes.

As fans we have spent our money to go and watch this team home and away, put money in the clubs pockets on merchandise and this is what is happening behind all our backs. The poor players have also been caught up in this, guys like THB will be tarnished for years given his celebration in the Semi Final. Think of Leo, such a talented player, ditto Jander. I feel for them because they've put in honest work tactically and been part of an uptick, which has actually turned out to be fake. I now don't trust anything which comes out of the club.

I have to say that is yet another sorry Chapter in the life of Sport Republic and our football club. Everything they have been involved in with us has been a disaster, and this is the end of the road now. They need to get themselves out of here ASAP sharpish because we'll have 37,000 fans with pitchforks doing it otherwise.

So as far as I can see the two extra charges brought by the EFL passed everyone by. Think the Club are a bit stupid to appeal, but then whoever sanctioned this behaviour is stupid in spades. Appeal.risks the punishment being increased. Can't believe my Club has done this. Heads must roll, surely the buck stops at Spoors? as Sporting Director. Stupid stupid feckers.

Ashamed that my club could sink so low as to cheat. We had the players and the team spirit to win our games without all that and to get back to the Premier League by our own efforts and collect the huge prize pot in the process. The EFL were determined to make an example of us and so they have, with bells on. I trust SR will be issuing an honest and full confession on what went on with Middlesborough and other teams, it seems. What would the odds have been at the bookies for Saints to end the season like this?

Well, that went well.

Guess we just appeal the severity of the punishment being dispraportionate. The fallout is going to rumble on for months, if not years, not just for Saints, but say we have evidence the whole spying thing is endemic in clubs then we'll be letting the genie out the bottle.

We've still got to look forward to whatever sanctions on individuals the FA want to impose.

Fuck it all.

This season of saints tv is fucking awesome, the drama, the good guys, the bad guys, the hope, the let downs and story line !!!!

I still contended the spying on boro should be treated different fronm oxford and ipswich.  Those 2 were league related and if we lost those we would of played boro anyway.  The boro spying is related to the playoffs and the results and the stats show that boro should of won the game over 2 legs.

Therefore after watching suits i can only deduce the punishment is dispropotionate and we will be reinstated for sat and the 37k tickets we have sold.

Also it would be hilarious to see boro melt down again after being so euphoric today.

Please also who the fuck are these fair weather forum members crashing the site whenever big news comes out

Just when you think we’ve stopped being Saintsy, the most Saintsy thing imaginable occurs. This a new low for the club and the reputation will follow us for years. I always try to find the humour in everything but there is none right now. None.

Don't know yet if we are going to appeal?

Only then will we presumably get all the details.

A 4 point deduction as well for next season (that possibly higher, but we cooperated?)

So, up there with breaching financial rules, over an extended period.

I'm still shocked.

Seeing we were guilty even of one game, deemed that we could not be seen to proceed from there.

That we played, and won, the second leg became irrelevant. They couldn't retroactively impose a 3-0 defeat.

Had it been a league game, that might have been the decision.

We don't know all the details yet.

One one hand Tonda has led us this far, becoming the in form team of the division. If we lose the/ don't appeal, how much of that squad will go into next season?

On the other, this is a mark on the club that is not going away for a very long time. Something that lasts well beyond the manager and the owners.

If we hadn't done this, and lost, we'd be looking ahead with some confidence.

Any appeal will likely see the deducted points reduced.

As self confessed cheats, no way will we be back in the final

Interesting that Boro get to benefit from all of this but not Oxford or Ipswich

The punishment should be a multimillion pound fine to Sports Republic, sacking of the indviduals involved.

None of this punishes those who have done it. The coaches will probably get another job somewhere, SR will still rake in the money when we sell loads of players in the summer - and what do we get, the fans? Completely fucked over, out of pocket, reputations ruined all because of these charlatans of owners.

They wouldn't have said Boro would be in the final if they believed that our appeal would work, it would cause too much pf a headache. The biggest surprise is they haven't postponed the final to give Boro more time to sell tickets and Hull more time to prepare for the opposition.

I reckon there will be lawsuits though the summer but for now, we're out the final and we will just have to accept it.

This bloody club. Just when you think things are going well, it all comes crashing back down.

So, who else did we spy on since xmas?

People serious do not believe we spied on Oxford than sat back until April?

I sadly think it's fairly clear this was systemic now. This mega turn around was no mega turn around.

Those games at Charlton and Wrexham feel a bit iffy now.

It's obvious, we only admitted it for games we didn't win.

Tonda will go tomorrow after the appeal surely

My anger is at the club.

37,000 tickets sold. So many youngsters who will have their days ruined. So much effort, financial and emotional investment for nothing.

Heads need to roll at the club for exposing themselves, us and all concerned to this nonsense. What a betrayal of trust, good faith.

Sports Republic. What a bunch of c*nts.

There aren't many teams that have accessible training grounds though, so not sure.
