Piss poor from Stewart and his representatives. He obviously has a club lined up already, no chance would they risk him playing competitive football for Scotland without an employer.

Isn't he still contracted to us until the end of the world cup group fixtures (i.e. end of June)...? As such, any 'pre-agreement' he has with another club could be torn up if he were to get injured before the end of the month..? Still a massive risk he's taking I reckon.

Stewart is partly down to us dicking about

We were evidently confident of not being chucked out of the play-offs, and thus able to use the "5 day window" clause in his contract to extend his contract if we were still in the EFL.

So not really "dicking around", rather underestimating the wrath of the EFL...

Probably didn't want to sign him if we got to the Prem which is fair enough.

We don't actually know what the conversation between Saints and Stewart was. Maybe we didn't want to keep him that badly and made it clear with the size/duration of the contract we were offering?

What would Plymouth be looking for in return for Laurent Tolaj? 24 years old, 6ft, can hold the ball up and run in behind, got 21 goals in L1 last season. Feels like the sort of profile worth looking at

Good shout that. Probably only cost a few million.

Stewart is an absolute wanker.

Would be devastated if the cunt got injured this Summer without a contract.

That's the spirit

With Stewart gone, I imagine they are also looking for buyers for BBD, Downs and Archer, could be quite the refresh up front next season.

Very disappointed with Stewart - very poor.

I'm not sure whether I'm more disappointed in his lack of gratitude, or us not exercising the extension in time. Probably more with him on balance.

Time for Archer to step up a bit? I reckon he stays now and we can use him next year.

He proved in his brief purple patch towards the end of the season that he's not a 'proper' centre forward, like Stewart or Larin. If we revert back to square pegs in round holes approach with our choice of strikers, despite the success of having two proper centre forwards underpinning last season turnaround, then I'll be back to despairing Sport Republic's decision making. Surely they've learned their lesson by now, with regards the type of striker(s) we need ...?

P.s. Bree just confirmed as staying

Decent player I'd say.

Sounds ideal, assuming L1 isn't his ceiling of course...

We've been waiting for that for a while now though.  Entirely possible he could but I'd rather sell him if the opportunity comes up.

Annoyed about Stewart but hopefully we can bring in someone who has the same impact that Larin has had.

Bree done

That's a good bit of business. Him coming back in January kick started our season.

Great news on Bree. Our team starting to take shape a bit for next year. If we take at face value what Dragan said about new signings only leaving if we get a bumper transfer fee:

Peretz

Bree Stephens ? Manning

Fellows/Matsuki Downes? Bragg Scienza?

Azaz

Larin

I can excuse us on this one tbf. Sounds like we were tucked up by a technicality after being hooked from the play-off final.

Had we renewed early, played the PO final and he done his hamstring (or any games leading up to that) meaning he missed half of (if not more) that 1 year extension, we'd have been accused of jumping in too early.

100% on Stewart and his agent this one.

Sad to see Ross leave in this way but getting Cyle signed early softens the blow and it does mean we can look forward to a new forward signing.

Breezy signing up another 3 years is massive. He's still getting better and better and is so consistent.

I'm sure we've got a couple more big name departures coming but we've done so well to get Larin, Peretz and Breezy sorted nice and early.

I have a feeling we might just keep Leo you know. Age and contract status are favourable and he seems like the type who may just reward us with some loyalty (Perhaps I'm being overly optimistic but we will see).

Feels like this will be one of the more stable windows we will have had in recent memory.

Quarshie to step up with Wood as a bit more experience for Quarshie he may kick on.

I think we were waiting to see what league we would be in first, which is fine, but given the mess at the end of the season it’s worked against us by missing the deadline as the final then wasn’t our final game

Watching Wood get the ball stuck under his feet gives me heart palpitations.

Not sure if it has been mentioned anywhere yet but as I understand it, Bree has agreed his contract extension.

I wasn't suggesting Archer stays and is the stewart replacement. Clearly we'd need someone else too

We all knew he was a top player and if we have survived would perhaps be able to ask for similar money. I guess two seasons in the PL shows that he is not a flash in the pan, not to mention he can do it at a different club. Plus he scored a couple of blinders, which really helps you get noticed. Just shows that he made the right move leaving us. Would United be calling if he had had a decent season with us in the championship? I doubt it.

This definitely requires a rebuttal.

He scored 3 goals for WHU and was largely missing for the first half of the season. He scored two for us the previous season, and although he was a stand out player, we were very shit! A couple great goals does not make him an exceptional player. Only consistency will make him a top talent. He now has two consecutive relegations on his CV. (just shows he made the right move?????) And now he's linked with Utd which makes him a top player? I think the boy has great potential, but needs to make better career decisions (whu seemed like a daft move at the time), and certainly is not worth the hype fee being touted.

Side note. I hope he goes for a top fee, because we benefit from it, but it will not be £80M.
