Loan him out, admit the mistake, worst that can happen is that he might score v some of our rivals, PNE would probably take him on loan. If he dies well there again probably get our money back. Better to ship Edozie out as well and get a couple of quick, direct, wide players in from PL u23 sides on loan. They won’t be perfect but they’ll have a go. Sports Republic simply cannot make another relatively big signing and fuck it right up.

If they’ve made another, they’ve made another one. Maybe he hasn’t settled in the south, or his girlfriend hasn’t moved down yet, but he hasn’t looked like an EFL player yet alone a top 8 Champ one. Better to just act now and bring in the loan we needed and if he does well again for another Champ outfit, win win. Write it off and sack the scout. No point them being proud about it. goodymatt Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago Dobbin hasn’t got going at all but talk of loaning him out after a few games is wild. He had one of the highest goal contributions in the league last season, far too early to make a definitive call on him. In his defence it’s a new team, new system, players all around him are not performing and many are playing out of position. I want to see how he looks when the team is settled and up and running. 27

New spine needed. 2 CBs (or 1 to partner THB if he stays). 1 CM and a Striker. Dobbin already looks like he's going to struggle. Need the same standard of recruitment we had end of last summer's window. Maybe not papering over the cracks... But talk about spine... Tonight we had no larin, no azaz, no downes, no Jander, and no THB... That is our spine. Also no manning. Edited 2 hours ago by Saint86 14

I was just going to post the same thing - our strength last season was the spine this season we only have Larin - Peretz made a couple of howlers but saved a lot too tonight. We need strong central defender or two a Wanyama type centre midfielder and another focal point striker. 2

BallBoy Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Results like this will make it even more difficult to sign decent players. They are not all stupid. 1
Lee On Solent Saint Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago This THB stuff is a load of bollocks. We need to tell Villa if they aren't prepared to pay the fee by Thursday afternoon then he doesn't nove to them. I know it's not as easy as that, but they are clearly stalling on the fee so we need to tell them to fuck off if they aren't prepared to pay. He's still our player and should be playing for us, until we get a fee that is acceptable. 7

MarkSFC Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Are most people finally seeing how shocking Stephens really is? I've been saying this for 5 years. He ain't even good enough for the Skates. If THB goes we are proper fucked. Even if we manage to sign two capable CBs it will likely take them a few weeks to get going andTE will probably mix and match with Wood and Calamity whilst they settle in. What felt like a positive (seige mentality) beginning to the summer is turning into a right bloody mess. 2 CBs, 1 CM and 1 Striker minimum....in 6 days... 8

disconnect Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Stephens has been a disaster so far this season (and majority of his Saints career) and Wood just isn’t an overly good player. Very surprised Quashie or Kayi Sanda haven’t been given an opportunity but really got to either get a partner for THB or two new starters for if and when he goes. This and a big imposing centre midfielder got to be the priorities. 2
Harry_SFC Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago (edited) 5 players needed without any departures. GK, CB, CM, RW, ST Add on another CB and another CM if THB and Jander are sold. Edited 13 hours ago by Harry_SFC 2

ally_uk Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago If THB stays make him captain Sign another centre back to play alongside him, We want experience, calmness and height / presence. I don't care how we do it even if we loan a Premier league fringe player for this season. Second I want to see a destroyer type defensive mid in the mould of Wanyama / Romeu. No nonsense tough tackling break up play, again no midgets...... Third I want a proper target man centre forward to rotate with Larin, Younger version of Ross Stewart, basically who isn't allergic to grass. Fourth Scienza aside our wing options are lacking all fart and no shit.... This is the bare minimum and a backup keeper. Sell: Larios, Archer, Diaz, Downs, Sugawara, Ramsdale 1

Not holding out too much hope on Jander based on his early pre-season ‘injury’ v the might of Eastleigh and constant links back to Germany. How are we four games in and totally reliant midfield wise on Downes, who will miss a fair few suspension/ food wise. Shambles 1

We must have known we would be losing Charles fairly early on this window. We must have known there was a chance we would be losing one of the others possibly. I'm surprised that we haven't got an alternative in already. A Charles replacement was much more of an urgent priority for us than further bolstering attacking midfield. 4

die Mannyschaft Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Club said squad too big (34?) this week so sell 8 or 9 players and get 2 defenders 2 midfielders 2 proven goal scorers Now! Not at beginning of next season.

Feels pretty obvious to me that regarding a Charles replacement the club have certain players in mind who haven’t become available yet. If they can’t get them they’ll go for a loan I suspect. No point just getting bodies for the sake of it up until now. Edited 11 hours ago by Fabrice29 7 1
goodymatt Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Would be a reasonable guess that he will be signing for Derby in the coming days. 1
goodymatt Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago Bit of a disaster signing that seemed on the face of it he would come in as a starter with promotion experience. Injuries have plagued his first season with us and it seems Tonda isn’t ruling out moving him on. You’d imagine that would be a loan if he does go to prove his fitness. Explains the odd links to RBs when we have 3 currently on the books. 2

Quite, when one is a good solid pro and two are a total waste of space (bet the Ankerson brothers got commission from one of those transfers).

I bet Bree is still on the lowest wages of the three. Makes sense to loan Roerslev and see if he can get back fit for either a sale or to get match fit and have a use in the future for us. Still hilariously bad that we brought in the two Danish RBs and ended up having to recall Bree.
hypochondriac Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago The next week can't come soon enough. Nervous about who might leave but also interested to see who we bring in. Sounds like we might bring in a rb so assuming that's true GK Cb RB CM As a minimum and I'm hoping for another attacker too. Potentially five players and at least two of them too quality for the starting 11. We have our work cut out!
SaintLondon Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I have been told my someone that I trust within the club that we categorically won't be relying on Stephens and Wood going into the season ahead so I think that means one CB as a minimum and two if / when THB departs. (They don't mean Quashie for you jokers) 7

We are going to be letting go two right backs who could provide decent competition for Bree, yet we still to want to get rid of both and bring in yet another. Surely Roerslev could be used until at least January. 1

Roerslev just didn't seem to do anything useful. I've no idea how he got so many games for Brentford. Sometimes players just seem to get by. Fullbacks especially. Perhaps these clubs have never had a quality player at fullback so don't know what is good, or maybe they are just happy to have a guy that never moves out of position. At least the club does seem to know when a player they have isn't up to it and look to offload as quickly as possible.
