Not in a million years is he going to step in if Larin got injured.

A tall strong striker is someone that holds the ball up and allows the midfield to move up the pitch.

Mubama yesterday was nudged off the ball a couple of times and it was mentioned by the radio solent team that he needs to be stronger as he’s getting bullied.

WE WILL SIGN A TARGET STRIKER.

They actually have different styles, too, so unless DM learns to be a target man/presence to add to his existing style he won't offer us the same. He should be pretty good as a player to look for Azaz' through balls though.

Tonda showed quite a lot of tactical adaptability across his front line last season. I think (but of course could well be wrong) that DM is for when he wants a traditional 2 forwards, whether from the start or as a game adapts. Azaz further forward doesn’t work. I think he still wants a second, back-up or rotational target man for/with Cyle. Where that leaves Dobbin other than a more direct style lw to sub on for Leo is a separate point. But as I see it Tonda wants options for 3 of the front 4 to go with a proper number 9. He has all the options now, but (other than Damion Downs) doesn’t have a replacement number 9.

we don’t have unlimited funds, so it will depend on shifting Downs and Archer but if both (and possibly just one) are moved on I reckon we’ll see another number 9 style forward come in.

Everything else now depends on who we lose. A gk if Ramsdale goes, a cb if THB, a cm if Jander, a winger if Edozie. And a rb if we lose both Sugawara and Roerslev. We can shift Larios and one of the right backs without needing to replace so I expect that to happen too.

As I said, I could be miles off but I think that’s the logic

Agree, based on my rather sketchy streams, Mubama doesn't hold the ball up like Larin. We need another big guy up top.

Are we still thinking 4 more signings before Wednesday?

GK

CB

Winger

Striker

Can't see it myself.

Dobbin is poor on the left. His best work is in the middle.

Is dobbin not already effectively the archer replacement?

As for downs, not sure what sort of player we’d be looking to bring in to be 3rd choice striker and play very few minutes.

I thought when he was first mentioned he was Archer MkII. Certainly not the CF we needed at the time.

From the very limited game time I’ve not seen a lot to get excited about.

When you think about how Tonda got Archer performing (to a degree) towards the end of last season, there's every chance that Dobbin will start showing more if he's given time

Why? As a minimum we will be getting a backup gk, THB replacement and you would think a striker almost certainly if Archer and Downs goes. If we let Edozie go surely we replace him. Maybe a loan.

Solly March you’d think would replace Edozie. Weird how every window seems to be loads of links but he never leaves. He needs new start. For us March, Fellows, Matsuki and Scienza are 4 good wingers

Downs and Sugawara both meant to have offers on the table so hopefully they’ll go.

the concern is Ramsdale no one seems to be interested we really can’t be having him hanging around on a big wage

Tuesday could be a mad day with all that business to do and Tonda preparing the team for Birmingham away

Its always confusing when windows in other leagues close at a later date, can see us still trying to offload Ramsdale, maybe he'd fancy a year earning tax free out in Saudi on loan, I'm sure their transfer window stays open for a few more weeks

In his 10mins yesterday, he played a big role in the 5th goal with a quick 1/2 to get behind the defence. So not sure what else he has to do to impress people in such a short space of time. Hit 2 goals or something from 30 yards?

I wont settle for anything less than a goal a minute.

But seriously i think he has shown glimpses of being a decent player, hes not a Damion Downs write off

I’ve no idea when any of them close. I’ve also never understood how you can have months to make a signing yet there are always ones that go right to the deadline, of course clubs and players hold out for the best moves but it just seems all so unnecessary

I hope so too.
He showed some potential pre season and it may be just a case of bedding in.
I was amongst those who thought Larin was an unfit and ungainly striker when he was first brought it but realise now how wrong I was.

That’s the very reason, add to that most moves are a deck of cards held up by other moves for selling teams replacements etc.

just look at the players on free transfers at the moment, it’s crazy some of those players haven’t found a club.

Fair play to the club , it seemed obvious Stephens had to be replaced but clubs don't always do the obvious, early days but Schlotterbeck looks a bargain and just what we needed , I thought it was a great show of character that he remained composed after that early costly error and went on to have a very impressive debut

I wasn't that convinced about re signing JWP but watching him yesterday I realised I'd underestimated that actually a player with that many top flight minutes behind him is a huge asset to a club in our position

Couple more good signings and the autos are on COYR

I wouldn't classify his deflection as a costly error ,  it could have gone anywhere!

Wasn't his fault at all. Manning was basically walking out to the bloke who hit it.

Personally I'd be straight on the phone to Spurs. They've got all that money they're desperate to throw around and at the moment their keeper options are Vicario who has been proven appalling and Kinsky who is a raw kid. If they're serious about re-establishing themselves as top six side they need a 'proper' keeper, and given their shocking start they'll probably be doing more panic spending before Tuesday night. At the very least you'd think they'd consider a loan.

He gave the ball away earlier than that.  Had a decent game though.

He is good going forward but really winds me up when he defends.  Never gets close enough to the winger or forward to block a cross or shot.  Went mad at him when they scored yesterday.

Quite,  flew in signed up and started all in a few days , nothing like previous signings , then had a good match.

Arsenal connection might ruin that one for him, especially if he started badly 😅

Yeah I did think about that but is he really 'Arsenal' enough for it to make a difference? Born in Stoke and has played for eight clubs of which Arsenal are one. Only played there for two seasons and didn't really win anything with them (the charity shield doesn't count). Honestly don't know how rabid it is these days given that players like Campbell, Bentley, Gallas, Adebayor etc have all played for both. You could be right though.
